I have to admit, I wouldn't have minded a villain song like this in the final film. It could have been a good contrast to the generally upbeat tone of the other songs.
this song is a great example of the rivalry between man and beast. back when we were just evolving in Africa predators where every ware from the Smilodon relative Megantereon to the crocodile's anthropophagus and thorbjarnarsoni. but when we first started making weapons to fight back slowly but surely, we became the apex predator. and now millions of years later the rivalry still continues.
*Lyrics* *Shere Khan* : It isn't fair to hate me When you know me very slightly When you know me better Then you can judge me rightly And all who know me very well Hate me, hate me, hate me more than tongue Can tell Oh, I'm Shere Khan, who fights alone A demon I resemble I have no friends to call my own I make the jungle tremble I'm cruel as the midday sun All clad in black and yellow And all who see me turn and run Though I'm a handsome fellow *Buldeo* : Buldeo is my name of fame I'm expert with the weapon Shere Khan's the game I mean to tame His carcass I shall step on I'll meet my victim eye-to-eye He knows just how I hate him He'll have no time to say goodbye For I'll exterminate him. *Shere Khan* : It isn't fair to hate me When you know me very slightly When you know me better Then you can judge me rightly And all who know me very well Hate me, hate me, hate me more than tongue Can tell Buldeo seeks to take my life How does he dare, I wonder Unless he wants a widowed wife As I tear him asunder My fangs are sharp, my heart is cold There's no time for complaining His friends and family should be told There won't be much remaining *Buldeo* : As hunter, I'm invincible I always get my quarry I never, as a principle Let myself feel sorry With elephant and antelope My name is dreaded still Shere Khan can only dare to hope for time To make his will *Shere Khan* : It isn't fair to hate me When you know me very slightly When you know me better Then you can judge me rightly And all who know me very well Hate me *Buldeo* : Hate him *Shere Khan* : Hate me *Buldeo* : Hate him *Shere Khan* : Hate me *Shere Khan & Buldeo* : ... more than tongue Can tell
I think it's more than Khan can tell, bcs i saw it on an older video, someone was filming a dvd version, and there were subs, and it says Khan can tell, also this lyrics is from wiki which is edited by whomever soo, and it sounds like more than Khan can tell
I have a theory that the reason these two hate each other so much is because Buldeo more than likely killed Shere khan’s mother when he was just a cub, and the tiger in turn killed the hunter’s brother (aka Mowgli’s father). Anybody else agree?
No. Because Mowgli was born in a city far outside the jungle (most likely Nagpur) and his parents died in a flood, the same flood that washed Mowgli into the jungle. That's why Bagheera found Mowgli in a boat.
I'm disturbed by Thurl Ravenscroft being an evil tiger! but its awesome to hear him again. Also interesting to hear a song from a much darker draft of the junglebook than the one we got.
Unlike the deleted Bare Necessities I love this, I wish it were in the film, at least Khan’s part, also I kinda get Western vibes, dunno why, anyway, I love this song, I wish Khan got another song…I guess this and Run will have to suffice seeing as both are dead, R.I.P Tony Jay and Thurl Ravenscroft, you will be missed.
Unless you can get Idris Elba to do it in the "supposed" Jungle Book live-action sequel. But with Disney as they are with their remakes, I dont have faith in them anymore.
really loved a amv of this with clayton(tarzan)in buldeo's role which i could easily see(absolutely love a jungle book/tarzan/the lion king crossover)/love someone to do an animatic of. as while i do enjoy the final movie we got really love how dark(especially most of the animals trying to kill mowgli/man being treated like they're ancient destroyers the animal kingdom wants nothing to do with.:3) & showing the world of the original jungle book in the original concepts.
I can see why they cut this as they did change a lot of the direction in the film.it's also indicative of the time period in which this movie was created, and that would limit its appeal as the movie aged.
I mean, if anything, it would've gained its own cult of fan base if it were to go down the original Bill Pete draft if done very well. Walt wanted to be more involved with after Sword and the Stone didn't do well (Both films as well as 1010 Dolmatians being entirely storyboarded by Pete) Walt just didn't like the direction that Pete wanted to take the movie and so after heavy arguments, Bill ended up leaving Disney and they ended up starting over in many ways. The only thing t survive from the original story was the "Bare Necessities" song that Terry Gilkinson wrote and Walt had the Sherman Brothers retool it a bit to fit their style of song writing
@@BlazeHeartPantherI disagree. The Jungle Book was already a classic story and was pretty well known by the public. Walt regretted having Alice in Wonderland close to the source material because the audience's familiarity with the book hurt the movie (same thing happened to Treasure Planet). So he made the right choice giving The Jungle Book its own identity. That way it stands out from other adaptations and ages better. And I say this as a huge fan of the books.
@@vetarlittorf1807 I don't think so. Had Walt stuck with this version, it could've been a truly epic and interesting film. It would've explored the dark elements of living in the jungle and the conflicts between man and beast. And with all due respect, he didn't make the right choice because, compared to the book it's based on, it fails in comparison. The only thing the final Disney version has over the book is Shere Khan's character. But BlazeHeartPanther is right. If Walt had done the right thing and just left the story telling to Bill Peet, then not only would the movie have gained a huge cult fanbase like THOND, but the entire franchise would've been completely different as a whole.
Is it just me, or am I the only one who can actually see Esmeralda and Frollo singing this song about each other? Esmeralda: Shere Khan Claude Frollo: Buldeo
I guess because Walt Disney thought it was too dark, though personally I don’t see anything dark about it other than Shere Khan and Buldeo wanting to kill each other.
@@deionpehowdy In the original book, the main reason Buldeo wanted to kill Shere Khan was mainly so that he could claim the reward on the tiger’s hide. Here….my theory is that Buldeo killed his mother when he was a cub. And Shere Khan in turn killed someone close like a wife or brother. (It should also be noted that Khan has been a primary target for human hunter’s for years, and Buldeo may have been the main one chasing after him. That’s probably why Shere Khan wanted to kill Mowgli so badly, because he feared that if allowed to live, he’d become just like Buldeo).
@@deionpehowdy Another theory I have is that Buldeo’s brother who Shere Khan killed was also Mowgli’s father and Messua’s husband. Basically making Buldeo Mowgli’s uncle.
