I love the Boom Studios Power Rangers Hardcovers, even if they're a little weird.

I've been getting the hardcovers ever since probably the first reprint of Year One. Been a great way to have everything collected together, and the consistent spine pattern is dam satisfying. Totally agree that Go Go should've been an extra large volume that stopped at Necessary Evil.

Man, IDK about the stories themselves but I LOVE hardcover collected editions. They look so good.

So, THAT’S where the “omnibus“ part in the Omni force wonder ride book attacks comes from. Omnibus loading and stuff like that.

I already started collecting the issues of Go Go not included in the MMPR hardcovers in trade form before they ever announced the hardcovers. When they did, I was like, "Yeah, I don't need a new short story that badly, thanks." I'm still baffled that the Blue Senturion and Ninjor story that ran during Shattered Grid and Beyond the Grid was never included in any of these. You REALLY couldn't squeeze a story like that in the BtG hardcover? The thing was already fewer pages than the others!
@Soundout12
@Soundout12 11 месяцев назад
Holy crap I totally forgot about the Blue Senturion and Ninjor stories not being included. Bulk and Skull and Squatt and Baboo were in the first two hardcovers so what the heck. They really need to toss those pages into one of the upcoming hardcovers (Probably Lost Chronicles?)

I almost settled for buying BOOK ONE not realizing it's actually the 7th book of the hardcovers (not counting the 2 GO GO sets), luckily Amazon seems to have restocked on Year One and I was able to get it, aiming to get one per paycheck to avoid killing my wallet.

I agree that the collections have weird orderings/configurations to them. I prefer to read comics digitally these days, partially because I don't have the space for comicbooks. I typically default to reading things in whatever order they're collected in for TPB/HCs. But when I went to confirm with reading order lists for these comics, most of them went against how the books are laid out. Super weird.
@Soundout12
@Soundout12 11 месяцев назад
That's definitely an issue that I have with these. I don't always agree that they're in the proper reading order. They're more in release order (outside of Shattered Grid which is in the right order for the most part). In contrast to IDW TMNT where I think those are the proper reading order. There's really no wrong way to read the PR comics since release order works about as well as chronological order.
@Jumbalia23
@Jumbalia23 11 месяцев назад
Honestly a lot of the reading orders for these online are bad imo. If they tell you to read up to Go Go 20 before starting MMPR that’s a red flag. The Shattered Grid arc has some pretty major spoilers for stuff that happens in MMPR

Year One’s “exclusive story” was not the only one to be reprinted. Year Two’s was in the “Psycho Path” graphic novel, and Shattered Grid’s was in the “Ranger Slayer” FCBD special and the “Rise Of Drakkon” paperback. The others have still yet to be reprinted though, as far as I’m aware.
@Soundout12

I wasn't aware that they reprinted the SG story! (I have the FCBD Ranger Slayer special, but never actually read it 😅).

Beyond the grid actually killed my interest in the main comics entirely. My biggest issue was how poorly placed the panels were and i often ended up having ro reread pages because halfway through od notice od read everything out of order
@Soundout12
@Soundout12 11 месяцев назад
I think the big problem with the panel layouts is the way the background meld together and the panel borders aren't very distinct. I had to do the sam rereading when it hit in singles. It was better reading it all in one go but its still messy
@boogerman908
@boogerman908 11 месяцев назад
@@Soundout12 yea maybe. I just remember the story being slow and meandering and hard to read... but it's been a few years maybe it soiled be the same if I went back to it. I guess it could also be doing from shattered grid to a much less intense feeling storyline. But if it actually did get cut down i can't imagine how slow it would've felt if they got a full year
@kyleofford2551
@kyleofford2551 2 месяца назад
They did end up getting to be much better again after the Beyond the Grid Arc. Since then we’ve had the Necessary Evil arc which introduced Lord Zedd and the White Ranger into the mainstream comics, as well as the Omega Rangers. We then got the new green ranger storyline, which I’m not going to reveal who it is just for those who end up reading it later on. We had the origin of Lord Zedd and the Eltarian War arc, Drakkon reappearing albeit in a more insane state. Currently we have the Darkest Hour arc going on which has fully added Dark Spectre into the fold as well as Rita becoming Mistress Vile. Oh and who can forget Lord Zedd actually saying ‘It’s Morphin Time’ as he becomes the Z Ranger

I can't justify rebuying all of my individual issues again even though they look absolutely fantastic so them locking the extra stories is annoying and I wish that they would perhaps every time a new HC releases sell the prior one separately so people would have a period of exclusively plus I can't imagine people buying the HC just for the Extra story. Excellent video as per usual.

Managed to get all these hardcovers in the last 2 months. I actually started reading with GoGo vol 1. Cause it was flashbacks pre Tommy. Then a bit into GoGo vol.2 i was like hold on TOO FAR. Started reading Year 1 onward. A bit confusing but manageable. Anyway these have been great reads im ready for rhe next MM/PR deluxe edition. The most expensive ones i found were Year1&2 for $50 a piece. The rest i was able to get between $30-$40 each Solid video mate

I'm glad someone has made a video about this. I thought I was going crazy with how this was obviously double dipping when Necessary Evil started. Admittedly, I still might get Year Two of GoGo. Because, I'm not really a fan of the back and forth order that the Neccessary Evils do. It's just easier for a one and done book. I'm also hoping that the Mighty Morphin/Power Rangers deluxe is in order.
@Soundout12
@Soundout12 11 месяцев назад
I hope so as well. I would guess they'll alternate the MM and PR issues according to the release order (And also the numbers on the variant covers that kept it going from 56-99)
@kevingaron2736
@kevingaron2736 11 месяцев назад
Speaking of the upcoming Mighty Morphin / Power Rangers "Book One" Deluxe Edition, it collects MM #1-8, PR #1-8, & the first two Unlimited one-shot.. This kinda confuses me. Do you think they will split the Mighty Morphin / Power Rangers storyline into 2 books or 3? If you're following the story arc, "Unlimited Power", it ends at MM #12 & PR #12. And it follows "The Eltarian War" until issue #16. Then the "Charge to 100" until issue #22
@Soundout12
@Soundout12 11 месяцев назад
I’m not exactly sure what the plan is here. With Book One being 18 issues, Book Two would take us through Eltarian War but that’ll only be 16 issues since there’s no one shots in that arc. Then to finish out the MM/PR era in Book Three, it’s 12 issues, 2 one shots and hopefully MMPR 100 which only totals out to 15 issues. So page count wise both books are going to be a little short unless they add in some of the other uncollected material (similar to how Beyond the Grid got the 25th Anniversary One Shot). I know when they originally solicited it, MM/PR Book One was 1-12 of both plus the Darkness one shots but I guess 26 issues blew past their page count limit due to the variant cover galleries

It was such a turn off when I had Neccessary Evil deluxe 1 on hand finding out they are arranged in release order....it make more sense for Eltarian sense as the story was going thru both titles. For Neccessary Evil, there was the past present arcs going together.

I picked up Go Go v1 on a whim, and mostly enjoyed it. But there were some red flags that made me dubious about getting v2. Sounds like there are even more red flags than I first thought. Too bad about issues 17-20. Maybe I'll get a trade paperback of it someday...

I bought the TPB volumes of Go Go that weren't included in Shattered Grid and before Necessary Evil started. I was happy enough to essentially double dip for Go Go Deluxe Year One, but the fact that all copies of Go Go Deluxe Year 2 have a misprinted page entirely missing dialog bubbles has really killed my intention of buying it.

I don't think you're crazy for thinking the Deluxe Editions are weird. The Deluxe Editions are out of my price range, which is why I stuck to the regular trade paperback releases for the 2016 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic book series, and will be sticking to the original Archive Edition paperback releases as each Deluxe Edition is twice the amount here in Canada, as what they're priced in the U.S.
