When I was young in Fort Magsaysay (known as a bird sanctuary) in the Philippines, every time my friends and I go to the Pahingahan dam we always spotted different eagles and hawks birds soaring majestically beautiful in the sky! Seeing them when I was young (13-15) was part of my best memories. I still hoping that they’re still there living in complete freedom.

The eagles that they held are NOT Philippine Eagle... They are smaller eagle and hawk-eagles... The Bird shown starting at 2:00 is a Philippine Eagle - albeit a juvenile one... They can grow much larger than that - much larger than any eagle in America....

Those were babies. My fiance is from Cabasagan - in the shadow of Mt. Apo. I am not a small man, and there are birds there with wingspans wider than I am tall. To see them in person brought tears to my eyes. Such beauty, grace, intelligence...

That thumbnail photo is a Philippine sea eagle.. We named them locally as "Banog"... It is so sad to think that i dont see them anymore. I used to watched them in my place every morning just as the sun break through the horizon, they used to hunt fish in groups at our shores.. Unfortunately, when i got home after 15yrs abroad there is nothing left. The thick mangroove forest nearby is now a village.. Note, that mangroove forest has a system of water streams that strech through the whole forest and housed beautiful species of gourameis in full neon color (red, yellow, blue, green, white, black and the common one's). Watching those fish swimming calmly is very enchanted... The place's location was the mangroove forest sitting between Ozamis city and Missamis Occidental.

The blind bird 2:55 and the one that does a call at 1:42 is a brahminy kite. I used to take care of one until it died five years after capture because it also got blinded. We fed it dead fish and the kite absolutely loved it. I was very young then and I actually thought it was some sort of an eagle.

When i first visited the conservation center it was way back in 1993 there was more eagles and other animals and the last time i visited it way back 2009 as i recall there were lesser eagles and other animals and the area is a lot smaller too. I wonder what the center looked as of now.

As I posted site, I don't think there are other human have a close and personal experienced with the Philippine eagle before there is Philippine Eagle Foundation. First, I saw them mate (several couples) way up in the sky. They might be territorial but the sky is for every body. As i said there were as many as 3-4 couples circling the sky at the same time; then actually pet them (2) in a variety (sari-sari) store; then saw them chasing monkeys in the wild. Of course it was in the 50s.
