Hubby had a seizure for the first time in his life last year at age 60. Other things didn't work. KEPPRA has been working well twice a day for over 6 months now. Thanks to those who have researched it.
I have been on this medication for the last month. I am at 1000mg a day. I had a seizure a month ago because of stage 4 Melanoma Cancer tumors in my brain. I want off of this medication because of the severe side effects. I have severe migraines,I get very tired and dizzy, sometimes I have blurry vision and very sensitive to light. The worst side effect is that my whole body aches. Every muscle hurts and I have a hard time walking. Sometimes I am in a zombie state. This medicine is very bad and I hope that my Dr will take me off of it soon. All of my symptoms are not just from my tumors. I have had tumors since August 2018 and I have had radiation to shrink them.
Wowie, that sounds quite challenging. I hope that you have a solid support group while you face this difficult situation. Yeah, this med can be quite nasty itself. I assume that you have told your doctor about the side effects?
You're also on an extremely high dosage of Keppra, so maybe you can ask your doctor to lower your dosage. Also you can ask about Topamax/ Topiramate. I may start generic keppra soon. It has worked for me in the ER, so my neurologist said that we could try it. I hope that you can find the best medication for you.
The extreme lethargy subsides after two months (500mg twice a day), but I am losing weight and have been experiencing hair loss since I am put on Keppra. I don't know whether others on a Keppra pill experience this.
