Oh i know a cat that is worst and doesn't need external help to switch back and forth, just exist in their proximity is enough to constantly switch back an forth in seconds
I don't think *all* cats are like this--and the ones that are aren't like this all the time-- but *a lot* of them are certainly like this *a lot* of the time!! 😹 I'm still a total cat person, though!!
Cats are usually choosing to be aggressive with human as the last resort and they give plenty of warnings, even the intensity of scratches are different. So yeah when they say no to a tool they will attack the tool, not you. Its their way of saying "i dont like this". My cat also attacked the nail clipper or the brush rather than my hands.
I really hate people that over feed their pets, and I say that as a fatty myself. Its really not that fun weighting this much. But at least I did this to myself, I know that my life style would make me like this. Cats, dogs don't, there is food, so they eat the food.
@@WolfFireheart that is very true, but we don’t know the circumstances of her weight. she could be a rescue, it could be a health problem that causes weight gain. or she could just be naturally inclined to be a chubby cat. my cat is definitely chubby and the vet warned us that she’d have a tendency to be so. she gets lots of exercise and only is fed 2-3 times a day but still looks like a seal when she’s on her back lol
@@WolfFireheart My cat is definitely chunky, but his weight is still healthy. He's a Bombay, which are usually a bit thicker. He was starving when we rescued him from our backyard, so he's way better now :]
Cats are super vocal animals. All the talking she does definitely helps the cats to calm down and stay comfortable. Even if they don't understand the words, your inflection on the words still gets through.
That's definitely me lol. I had a Tonkinese for 18 years. One of the most talkative breeds for sure. You could have whole conversations with her lol. 😄
I mean, it makes sense right? When I was younger we had two female kitties, a princess (me mums cat, literally nobody could pet her, etc for her...) and my girl (my kitty, she adored me and it was mutual, i loved that kitty) --- But whenever we had to feed them, we would just yell out their names and "food" included and they'd come fast as hell, cus they instantly knew.
@@justjeni83 to be fair, you are getting near their feet with a sharp tool, which is probably scary to them. I was afraid of the nail clippers as a kid, too, so I imagine the cats are just afraid you’d miss and unintentionally pinch/cut their fingers
@@yzma9959 Seconded. I used to nanny babies and toddlers years ago and they don't love nail clippers either, mostly because of the sound (click or motor). Other half of the secret is to make loud/happy noise instead of talking to a cat or dog while you do it ( and for toddlers, clipping your own nail first helps too lol).
I foolishly played a little game of "I got your foot!" with my cat when I was a kid...then he told me just how much he hated it by pooping on my pillow 🤣💩
@@justjeni83 it does work, but sometimes it takes more effort. Start off touching their paws when they’re relaxed, like when they’re eating or napping or playing. It’s normal if they don’t like it, but you don’t want to push too much otherwise it can have the opposite effect. If you just do the ‘end result’ you want once or twice a day, it probably won’t work - it’s more about gradually improving their comfort level rather than following a schedule. So you have to take every opportunity to handle them, then you can start retracting their claws. If they’re kneading, you can try and help them! Then you let them sniff the nail clipper, and try to clip a bit of just 1 nail. If it scares them, breaking a piece of spaghetti near them can get them used to the sound. Just go for as many toes as you can without them freaking out, and clip only a tiny bit off at first. If you accidentally make them bleed, it’s really bad because the pain will reverse all your hard work, so it’s better to just clip bit by bit. Over time, they’ll be chill with it. My cats are grown and I still take every opportunity to touch their paws, and all of my cats over the years have let me touch their toes and clip their nails very easily, and they’re chill with baths too, but you have to put in a lot of effort when they’re kittens.
This was a whole journey! There was action, plot twists, and I think a long lasting love formed between Minnow and the Equi-Groomer. What a beautiful kitty.
Chubby kitty, please stay in the bathtub Chubby kitty, your coat needs a scrub I know you haven't cleaned yourself at all Can't help that you've the circumference of a bowling ball
Oh she's SO adorable! She has a definite case of elevator butt! I have an ex-feral cat who HATES being brushed, I think I'll have to get an equigroomer.
Mine, also picky about brushing, didn't like the equigroomer. I found an undercoat rake that is extremely effective and gets the job done before he's had enough. The amount of hair that comes off just after a few days is insane. His coat is silky smooth where his hair is so thick it easily gets matted without frequent brushing. He's not ex-feral, but he was kept closed in a bathroom his first 2 years until those awful people surrendered him. The lack of socialization has mostly been overcome at this point, but he is VERY quick to express his displeasure at anything he remotely doesn't like/has had enough of.
I bought an equi groomer (cause if this channel) and both me and my cat absolutely love it. It’s SOOOO GOOD. Best grooming tool ever! Hopefully you (and your baby) will love it too. ♥️♥️
This cat attacking the blow dryer reminded me of that time the police in America had to issue a statement advising people "not to shoot at the hurricane".
Please tell me that's made up. Please tell me people weren't that stupid. Well you didn't make this up and people are that stupid so maybe I shouldn't be saying that there goes more faith and humanity gone. What the...? Okay then.
I imagine it must feel really good, like getting all the best scratches on all the spots. I got one for my roommate's dog (boxer/pit mix, so he has really short fur) and he'll lean into it when I use it on his neck.
Ok, so I confess... Minnow is now my favorite cat shown on this channel. Her purring and sweet nature while getting brushed just won me over, and now I absolutely adore her. 😊❤️
Such purrs! I'm impressed at how loud they were. I understand how hard it can be with a food obsessed cat, because we have one ourselves, but a fat kitty has so many problems. I hope that the owners can get Minnow down a couple of pounds.
Gotta be strong, but yep you definitely can do it! Just got to get the entire household on board and make sure nobody is sneaking treats/extra meals on the sly. Cats are very creative in convincing you they're starving. My dad tried to convince me all cats are grazers, so it's okay to just leave a bowl out of food. Nevermind the fact that my cat is an ex-stray on a constant SeeFood diet where he'll keep eating until he pukes. When I moved out, the boy was 19-20 pounds. He's much lighter now, 12-13. Still a smidgen chonky, but that's okay; he's much healthier and has an easier time moving around ^-^
I hope someone gave the owners a stern talking to about her weight. Having a little extra weight is one thing, but a cat should never be round like that, it's a sign of serious obesity. Obesity in cats can cause arthritic, heart disease, and cancer. She's such a sweet girl, I'd hate to see her life shortened by negligence.
Whomever does speak to the owner of the cat I certainly hope it isn't someone like you. You obviously need to return back to school to learn some social graces.
@@meg4458 Theres nothing wrong with what they said? They weren’t rude, just honest. If you think an honest conversation about the dangers of obesity does not fall in line with your “social graces” then maybe you’re just overactive. No one owes you politeness or a more gentle way of speaking.
Wow she's so amazing! She is so good at expressing herself and what she wants and doesn't want. I love her! What a communicative and cuddly kitty. And she looks so cute! 🥰
Minnow reminds me of my black cat (see profile pic). I bought the Equigroomer for Angel since she sheds like mad, and I was shocked to see her enjoying it and even "purring"! She doesn't make the rattling sound of a purr often, but she was rattling away while I brushed her. I was so happy to see my darling ink spot enjoying being petted. Then her brother got jealous of the attention, and that was the end of that. The Equigroomer proved itself in that one short brush!
@@SerenaSilverMoon Haha, first off, awesome name. Second, Fred didn't want brushing; he was just jealous Angel was getting attention and he wasn't! I tried to brush him first, and he was not having it.
She is a super loving cat. She just has her limits. She doesn't want to hurt anyone; she just got scared. She is precious. But her owner should help her lose some weight if they want her to live a full life. It is also pretty great seeing a groomer who takes on cat clients. Nice job!!
No amount of money in the world can buy something like this. It completely melted my heart watching this video. Animals are incredible, loving beings to have around. She's super cute and hilarious. Do you have any pets?
If it wasn’t for the whole “distress” part, I’d recommend a couple days of “blow dryer” a week for the owner as kickboxing is a GREAT full-body work out for people and obviously cats alike... 🤣
No amount of money in the world can buy something like this. It completely melted my heart watching this video. Animals are incredible, loving beings to have around. It would have been better if you've experienced how lovely animals are. Do you have any pets?
I recently lost my 18 year old cat Nera. I‘m 20, which means I basically grew up with her. I‘m still sometimes crying because I miss her so much. I‘m so sorry for your loss
@@leandrarohner4494 this was the same for my son. He's 20 as well. He had her wrapped in a blanket on her cat bed, which he put on his extra chair. He's a gamer and had an extra chair next to his for other players. But that was where he put her. She was facing him and he said he hnew she was gone because she quit blinking. So I told him it was good that he did that, because that means he was the last thing she saw
Ha, tell me about it! We are slowly trying to help our pudgy cat lose weight -- she came to us skinny and then we adopted an overweight male, and now they've switched places! They're both on prescription weightloss food, and it's doled out a little at a time by automatic feeders so they race to get to it. The girl will start to lose weight and have a lot more energy and jump up to places she hasn't been able to reach in years... and then she starts chasing her brother away from his food and regains her chubbiness while his weight plummets >_< One day we'll get them both to a healthy weight!
@@ladygrndr9424 kibble is full of carbs and ultimately increases weight. Prescription "diet" kibble is still unhealthy for them. It's a scam by pet food companies. Wet food is way higher in protein and water. Cats naturally hydrate through their food, i.e. prey animals.
@@jordanwatts3519 You can get super-low carb kibble, but what we use it for is mostly to get them active and stop them from sleeping all day and night. By the automatic feeders dishing out about 10 pieces of kibble at 6 intervals throughout the day and night, it makes them exercise as they race each other to the feeders. I also give them wet food once a day, and they have a fountain for water--they are very well hydrated. But thanks for the tips--they are accurate and helpful to people who are new to pet nutrition!
@@ladygrndr9424 look into the SureFlap feeders, they read the microchip in each cat so they can't steal each other's food! It's been a life saver for me. It also tells you exactly when and how much they eat
She looks exactly like my cat! She is the same size, and same color. the part where you removed a whole other car in fur is especially the same… The only difference is that my cat has white markings!
@@szpaqus we adopted her that way, we adopted her when she was seven, she’s now eight, and we’re trying to get her weight down. She is fat because the past owners said she was allergic to dry food, so she only ate wet food which has a lot more calories. But when we got her we tried sensitive stomach food and she’s fine eating it.
@@Syddddddddd12345 I think you're mixing stuff up there, dry food has higher calories (you can check the kcal/100g of wet food and dry food) and is the thing that cats shouldn't eat because it's 100% made for our convenience and not to meet the biological needs of cats
The clip of the rage metal is absolutely freaking hilarious when she’s boxing the dryer. It could not be more appropriate! Was this cat a UFC fighter in the former life or what?!!
love to see and hear about dechonkers! i get so sad seeing a cat this large, knowing they're not living their absolute best life, because their owners can't say "no" once in a while :/
Me to husband: Come look at this absolute unit! Husband: OH MY GOD! This is a darling feline when she's not laying a smackdown on the mean box of noise.
Aww, she was so cuddly and purr-y when she was happy! That was so sweet! And even though she treated the high velocity drier like the speed bag, she never took a swipe at you. What a classy lady!
My cat always tries to bite the squeeze up treats too! I just got her the Equigroomer and she’s been letting me de-shed her little by little. She gets overstimulated quickly and then I get the order to stop when she gives a little love bite. Excellent product though. Especially during the summer. I love that I can use it on her activity tower to get all the hair off of there too. 💚
My cat is scary with the squeeze up treats. I'm afraid to lose a finger. I think I need an equi-groomer, the slicker brush I have does take fur out but she still has hairballs.
@@roxanno1075 yes, that’s precisely what I meant. I actually used the Equigroomer on her entire activity tower and it didn’t hurt the fabric in the slightest. It’s such a gentle tool!
@@testerwulf3357 this is true, despite my grooming of her loose fur she actually got a hairball yesterday. However, she gets them less often now. It’s a great tool to help decrease hairballs.
The equigroomer is just pure ecstasy for Miss Minnow! She reminds me so much of my mom’s cat. She’ll be 13 in August but you wouldn’t guess she’s a day over 5. She’s quite spry, even though she’s rather chunky, and so healthy! The ONLY health “issue” she’s ever had was the removal of a tumor on her belly that turned out to be a roughly ping-pong ball sized lump of pure fat.
Not many cat videos I've seen have metal music in them. But using it for the fight scene with the blow dryer was amazing. Got a good laugh out of me. Your content is awesome. Love the monotone voice narrating while you do battle with the furballs.
She reminds me of my last cat (RIP, sweet Spider, we miss you). A total love-bug until she realizes that a grooming experience is incoming, at which point she switches into full on berserker kitty mode, only to be purring and lovey before the grooming is even halfway done because it feels *so GOOD* to get rid of all that extra fur. I swear her mental process used to be something like: "No! You can't... THIS IS NOT DIGNIFIED! Ooh! Ooh, that feels... really nice, actually. Can you just keep doing that forever, please and thank you?"
I ordered the EquiGroomer myself. My girl Pretzel was a rescue and she was without a doubt abused. Even after having her for 15 years she still doesn't trust me to do things like brush her. But the EquiGroomer arrived in the mail yesterday and she absolutely fell in love with it. Just like Minnow my Pretzel immediately devolved into a ball of purring, making biscuits, rolling around to get the other side, and bizarre poses to wherever I was brushing.
Seriously? I am, after 12 years, finally able to get my rescue, Kitty, to let me hold a men's comb up to his face. Kitty will comb his face while I hold the comb. That's it. He will not tolerate anything else but hand pets. Or the occasional spank on his back, which he loves far too much. :)
Seriously that was funny! The whole thing, I started laughing when you explained why you don’t wash their faces, and didn’t stop until the end!! Thank y’all!!!
I love Minnow 💙 She has a lot of character! I like how she attacks blow drier but not you, and how she expresses all her emotions - good or bad - very loudly. That's a great cat right here 🐱
Don't assume the owners aren't trying to moderate. I have had my cat on weight loss food for over a year (1/4 cup twice daily and she commonly doesn't eat it all) and has a slow feeder. Yet she still is chunky.
The Equigroomer I bought from you arrived today, and I decided to start desensitising my 14 week old chihuahua to it - didn't think he'd lose any fur, he still has a fuzzy puppy coat, and his long coat is still months away from developing. How wrong I was! I brush him daily, and he loses no fur, but the Equigroomer removed enough from this tiny boy that I had to vacuum my couch afterwards! He fell asleep while I brushed him with it, and he's now even softer and fuzzier than before. It's a magical little tool!
Minnow's reaction to being groomed is exactly how my now 14 year old cat used to react to being groomed! This is exactly why I'll only buy an equigroomer from you - that and I enjoy your videos
wow, we rescued a cat that looked like Minnow. Diamond took three years to lose the weight from her elderly owner, but we got her down to a healthy size. her tummy still dragged on the ground post weight loss, and Diamond liked to flop down and whip herself on her back so the stomach fat would flop over. sometimes I'd catch her sitting like a hooman and sort of staring at her tummy flap. she passed away at ten years old due to health issues, many from her weight, but we had her a glorious five years and loved every second.
Yep fat cats when gone not fat tend to have some extra skin left over. Knew a cat that bloated from severe kidney stones and a little weight gain but after surgery and a pair of coconuts missing he shrunk back up but now has a saggy tummy that kinda pools around him when he lays as if he’s melting 😆 I call it pancaking.
We had a Tom that we lost last October at 22 that loved having the bottom of his spine scratched, he behaved in exactly the same way. The two we have now look at you as to say "Hey that’s not my chin!" She’s a lady with a lot of personality just as Tiggs was, the best sort of cat.
