The Minecraft 1.20 Update is Not What We Thought 

You forgot to say that they will add new features throughout the development and only showed features that are really far in the development at the moment in Minecraft Live, so there 100% will be more new cool stuff

The bookshelf honestly would be great instead of item frames/chests in maps

Sniffer goes pretty well with archeology, and ancient seeds are basically a form of it. They only announced a few features, the ones they could guarantee would be added.

Ok, just to clarify. The things that they've shown on minecraft live are FOR SURE going to be added to 1.20 . The other things will be added throughout the development. They will add more things (maybe archeology update) just by looking at the things they've added. Chiseled bookshelf: taking a book from a shelf sounds like a dope thing, could fit doing an archeology savings, like writing them and putting in the shelf in your house. Those flying signs looks like some upgrade for cities or STRUCTURES, so maybe it will be the Structures update, camels - maybe some desert update, bamboo wood - jungle update. Idk, for me, it sounds like we're getting ALOT of new stuff. Not because of how many, but how much of a variety of these are here. Jungle? Desert? Archeology? For me, sounds like a BIG update.

3 years ago, when the nether update was announced, we were shown only 3 simple biomes and two unfinished mobs. As a result, in 1.16 we got 4 cool and unique biomes, 5 new mobs, a material that is better than a diamond, a giant bastion, ruined portals, new compasses, and just a ton of new blocks for building. So I believe that most of the update is still ahead

They only showed the most polished and finished features in this minecraft live, so more features will come soon that will surprise us, which I'm guessing, since they did not say the name of this update, it will be called Digs and Dunes update. Digs as in archeology, and Dunes as in deserts, but this is just a guess.

I’m excited for more features to be revealed, but I REALLY hope they aren’t scrapping archaeology. It looked really cool

the camel is iconic,it jumps off cliffs,it holds 2 players,and is a camel.

The pots that were mentioned with archaeology is has the ability to add art fragment and other things to add to the story of your world aligns with the theme of the update of expressing yourself so it could come later on

They will add more stuff along the way, they just don't want to get ahead of themselves with too much promises.

minecraft live was literally streamed on *international archeology day*. the sniffer is a *dinosaur*, the rascal was in an *abandoned mineshaft*, and the tuff golem was in a *museum*. plus the vibes of all the released info definitely have at least some form of connection to archeology and exploration of ancient structures. they’re using so many subtle tropes like camels and secret bookshelf doors, adding content to the two biomes which have both had ancient temples for so long, they also plan on announcing more in the near future so i’m betting that archeology will be coming in 1.20

I think it might be a biome update because the bamboo is part of the jungle and the camel is part of the dessert

they said that they will only say stuff they 100% know they can do it in that update. It is possible they are doing an astrology update but they said they dont want to make fake promises like last caves and cliff update.

In Minecraft bedrock edition, when I was voting for the sniffer in game, there was a secret room with a figure of a meerkat! Hopefully it will be part of the update!

i think the archeology update is gonna come out in 2024 or 2025 in the 1.21 or 1.22 minecraft update. its such a cool concept.

I still want to see archeology, I also would love to dye water in a cauldron different colors.

you forget one thing. this isnt everything. this is only what they are dead set on adding. everything else will be added as snapshots come out. like the secret friday updates almost. there is probably gonna be a lot more features, remember we still have quite a while before 1.20 is out

I'm pretty happy with the update, but I think they would add archeology sooner or later if sniffer got added because everyone is talking about it.

I think this update would Target jungle and dessert because firstly they added bamboo block (now bamboo is more useful)and also camel(meaning something is also coming in desert)then also they targeted decorations like book shelf and hanging signs which were pretty of these things are completed and it's not even half of the update they'll add more

They only announced what they are absolutely adding. They didn’t want to promise stuff that wouldn’t come. Every update there are only certain things at the beginning of the snapshots and more stuff keeps getting added so maybe archeology could be added in a snapshot but as far as we know right now it won’t be added

I think is a badlands (or jungle)/desert update because of the camels and the biomes they show with archeology

While this is a small update the update will come out soon and the update looks cute and fun!

I can’t imagine what some of the thrown around name ideas were for. Everything here is so thrown together. And ancient underwater dinosaur dog, bamboo rafts, camels, hanging signs… all cool features but like what would the theme be?? Could it be called “The Random Update”?

There's also chiseled bamboo, a variant of the bamboo block that looks pretty spankin' cool!

I want to see elephants added to the game. Then I will be happy, they could be tamed, ridden, and potentially used as a battle mount (yes they were actually used in ancient warfare) and I mean just look at them, they look cool. (Plus the babies are adorable)

Definitely above the polar bear update Edit: people who replied to me told me that the Minecraft creators didn’t show everything in the update yet. Those people who replied are right. I was not thinking about that while making this comment. Now I know most likely that a lot more will be in the update. It would be cool to see archaeology in this update.

Also they said On 27 October in Minecraft Now, they will share more upcoming features. Plus after few days from Minecraft Live at somepoint there will be beta/preview/snapshot versions with upcoming features.

im seriously excited, 20 versions of minecraft (ever since 1.0 came out) 2011 to 2022.

I just thought of this, maybe they should add a speed bonus for the camel when he's on sand, moving on par if not slightly faster than the horse on sand, it would be quite cool

How do you identify which book is which in the new bookshelf? That's a question that has been pondering in my mind for a while, do you just like take everything out to check?

This update just reminds me of old adventure maps stuff like the bookshelf and the sign. Stuff like DanTDM and his mod show cases etc. This update just feels like its an update to Minecraft rather than an update to a open world block game. I can't even explain it properly but this feels like one of my favorite updates of all time.

Remember guys. They only announced a few things that were already finished. Play testing starts very soon giving the devs alot of time to test/add/fix bigger features. Possibly archeology. Maybe biome updates. Assuming 1.20 will come out mid-late 2023, there will be so much time for the devs to work with. 1.20 is gonna be a massive update. Probably on par with 1.16.

Hello, I've would of loved if they mentioned more stuff in the update. I really really wanted either a archaeology update or a end update or even a dimension update. but if I had to say my favourite addition is either the chiselled bookshelves or the camel's and of course the Sniffer.

I will be honest. I'm not mad at the new update, because I like the hanging signs and a lot of the builds that I do need something like that, especially since I build a lot of villages. But I would like to see in archaeology update in the future.

Archeology is still a possibility as they will reveal more if the update in the ‘Minecraft Now’ livestreams

they did say that they are only announcing things that were playable and are releasing them in a snapshot in a few days. there is 100% more stuff coming, and they didn't even name it yet. based solely on what they announced, i think it will be the either the archeology update or the desert update.

chiseled bookshelves was my dream since i started playing minecraft back in 2015

it could also be a desert update, after all, the meercat was right under the sniffer in the bedrock sniffer, which could be a hinmt, and allso the camel gives it away.

I think we will get a warm update with the badlabds getting a update (like the biome vote) and the dessert (like biome vitr)
