Peter's RU-vid channel :
/ mineexploreruk
This channel is based in the North East of England ( UK ) and documents our explorations of both the underground and above ground workings of abandoned, and sometimes operational mines within areas such as the Northern Pennines, North Yorkshire and the Lake District, sometimes a little further. We now and again throw in some caving too. Our intention is to document these abandoned mines, show how they worked and talk about the history behind them. Unfortunately, due to politics, or the need to preserve the site, we can not always name the mine location. If the location is not shown in the video, please do not ask as refusal to divulge often offends.
THE DANGERS OF ABANDONED MINE EXPLORATION :
****
Abandoned mines contain dangers for which equipment and training are required. Hazards can include false floors, open shafts, low oxygen, poisonous gases, collapsing or rotten structures, explosives, flood risks, bacterial infection and of course, rock falls. NEVER enter alone, ALWAYS thoroughly research your destination, ALWAYS alert a third party to your plans and timings. STAY OUT, STAY ALIVE.
This video SHOULD NOT be considered instructional or used for navigation within this mine. Video is for historical documentation and entertainment only.

The stabilisation on this video makes for a weird effect when you're walking lol And you're right, the rock at 13.58 is the imprint of a fossilised tree. I used to have an actual fossilised trunk part of a tree I found at frosterly but it got lost in a house move.

Yes, I've learned since not to use the extreme stabilisation outside, or it has that effect. I van show you that rock sometime still much to do there :)

You look like you were in Langdon Beck Mine (it's all changed so much since I was up there in the 1970s) but it's also worth heading up the Hush to the northeast to Westbeck Level (near Watch House), a good place for a poke around...

Hi Yorkshireman, we did actually go up that hush, it's the one with the building in shown in the video, and the wavey tips that Binney walks down in the Timelapse, but we did not find a level, although at the time, we did not know if there were any levels up there, we were searching blind. Either it's gone or we missed it, as it's so easy to do. Gonna have to have another search when we return.

Thanks very much Toxi, must be some mines in the mountains around you, can't imagine they will be wet though?

@@UKAbandonedMineExplores I live in an old mining town of Julian, unfortunately we lack moderate rainfall over the past 20 years. Tons of mines in the area but they are too dangerous to attempt to descend into. Most are shafts filled with natural underground water sources through the mountain of granite.

Nice little explore Ste, the little shafts were air shafts to the exploratory levels, Langden beck mine was the one with the big tips there was a level next to that old shop Langdon head level at NY 8462 3482 and the old drainage level was at NY 8482 3388 and there were lots of very old trial levels up on the moss some going back to the 1600s sadly most did not produce much ore, so get your wet suits on next week, in the 1840s a mining adventure paid 6 men to dig trial levels and shafts up there for 4 years looking for veins the found half a dozen but were poor hence all the little bell pits and levels good luck in the big wet one

Thanks Keith, a few have mentioned the one by the shop, didn't find anything obvious apart from what looked like a cutting but where it ran too seemed to be a mixture of loose rock and bedrock. Another visit required. We did find another one that appeared to run, very low and silt, was in the video but somehow disappeared in the final render. We were saying tgat fir next time anyway.

What is that blue stuff on the walls 21:09 is it some kind of mineral build up?
@UKAbandonedMineExplores
@UKAbandonedMineExplores 2 года назад
It doesn't appear that blue in real life, just darker rock.

I'm glad we're not the only nutters wandering about the hills looking for holes in the ground to come back to with wetsuits, gasmeter and srt 😂😂

Did I spot a Roy Fellows hat lamp there, can you do a review on them as I'm looking at buying a Scorpion X but cannot find any reviews. Cheers.

My lamp itself is a Roy fellows, I don't know the model, it was a gift, so you can see how well it performs from the video :)

@@UKAbandonedMineExplores the Scorpion X and TGX are continuous cables so no weakness in the joint. Do you ever have to change the battery?
