Honestly you can see this in the Minilogue XD. They made a willing decision to only have 4 note polyphony, but they jump at the chain to mention that you can chain two XD's together for a WHOLE EIGHT NOTES (wow!) So over $1000 for eight notes, so why not just get the Korg Prologue™ the next one up in the line! I love my XD for what it is, but there's definitely a feeling like it could do everything but just doesn't want to.

You can insert this at the beginning: DW-8000, analog is too old ? ===> go full digital MS2000, still too big ?====> go for microKORG with less knobs

Don't forget no sequencer and only 3 lfo destinations on the Prologue

no wave loading and not enough modulation? => Modwave. Yeah, they do it on purpose and we all hate it.

thanks w a n g! this comment means a lot. one thing i was thinking of sawing off the keys on two og minilogues and then getting a midi keyboard where you can split the keys into two channels. so you have two og modules and 8 note polyphony. people have modded the og to make it a desktop module already, so it would actually be pretty straightforward to do.... likely too much work for me though. but yeah, it would have been so nice if you could have polychained an og and xd from the get go.

@@AlmostHomeSounds The XD is better. You can run it through another analog filter if you wish but I like the XD filter. I paired mine with an Arturia microfreak and they go well together.

yes!! to all of this. it’s such a great synth and the filter really cuts through the mix. curious what your update will b in a few months if the synth bug catches ya. i just got the take 5 and am realizing i’m mostly using it as a bass synth. which is weird cause it’s mostly designed to be a polyphonic synth. have you gotten into any of the motion recording features on that synth? i think that’s a very powerful but under used feature

i know, its like the criticism of the minilogue has become one of the main reasons i like it. its almost like you get a high pass filter if you use the resonance. not like actually but sort of. i sold my xd and kept the og. i dont think you'd be dissapointed keeping the OG and maybe getting a mono synth with some grit. that's what i would have done.

@@travisdumais2538 I was speaking figuratively...more exact, on the MS2000R there are +/- buttons for FAST patch program scrolling (it used to be like thaton many other synths), instead of wearing out the sensitive "clicking" encoder, only pick a patch nr. 455. It means that you have to scroll like crazy down to nr. 455, after you started the synth...it annoys the heck out of me. A bit of luck that I can use the XD Librarian to send a patch, instead of scrolling for it. Oh, and the Minilogue v1 didn't sound good in my ears, had to sell it, it was indeed "clicking" and the delay was horrible...but the XD is great, except the stupid patch scrolling.

yeah it’s sort of how it goes. i just got the take 5 and love it but am having major issues with it using an external sequencer. i’d try the og logue if you can. if you see it for 300, buy for sure

yes! i want this. the brutes are pretty good for this. though they have some shortcomings. im actually working on the next synth stories right now about its about the drumbrutes!

@@travisdumais2538 Can't wait to see it :) And to clarify, I was also referring to a more "all in one solution" like the Novation Circuit or the Roland JDxi, but with Korg flavour - full analogue / FM drums, bass part, 2-3 poly parts + sequencer + effects, lots of knobs/buttons and with a 61 full size keyboard. Doesn't need to be all analogue, and maybe Groovelogue is a fitting name? I want to be able to create and play live entire electronic music tracks using just one piece of gear with an easy interface, and nothing on the market is quite perfect. They have all these pieces lying around, need to put them together (i.e. Volcas, logues, the new SQ-64, etc.). Akai are prepping the MPC workstation, which will be a must buy for me unless Korg create what I dreamed of above :)

Oh I see why you mean! Yeah an all in one like an elektron product or mpc would be amazing from Korg!!
