In this episode I restore this 1979 Strat. But that's not all! The guitar has the word JESUS embedded on it. Join me as we find out more about this mysterious marking.
That's a very valid argument, but the owner felt uninspired by that look, and he should be able to enjoy his guitar how he likes it, but I can completly understand what you mean. Welcome to the channel!
Yeah idk man, I definitely appreciate the effort and you did a pretty good job given the customers requests but I feel like the 'mojo' of the Jesus (most probably from stickers protecting the finish underneath from grime and UV damage) marking is an overall loss. I'm not religious like that but I would've enjoyed it semi-ironically anyway. Anywhoo ggwp my dude ;)
I bought a 1984 lipstick red strat a long time ago and got it in the sunlight and somebody had painted Jesus saves on it it's there but you can't see it unless you're in the sunlight
It’s kind of a shame but the JESUS writing had to go. You can’t keep a guitar dirty just because the dirt spells out a word. Really tasteful relic job you did. Bravo.
Awesome job. But I would have just cleaned it, the age was clearly already showing. Home made ageing always look fake, even CS from Fender looks awful sometimes. But good work nevertheless and your friend is happy. The Jesus mark must have been a sticker, I had a sticker on my strat once that make the same mark.
Its very hard to naturally relic Fenders from the 70's they have a lacquer that can resist almost anything, some have a nitro top coat that will wear but the base coat under it won't FYI
