Kokoda, the defining battle for Australia during World War 2, is a testament to the courage and resilience of our soldiers. But there's an untold story of heroes who played a pivotal role during the grueling Kokoda Campaign - the local natives turned porters. In this program, we delve into the heart-wrenching history of Kokoda, where more Australians perished in the harsh conditions of Papua New Guinea than in any other campaign of the war. The steep, inhospitable terrain tested the limits of human endurance.
Amid the horrors of war, thousands of Papua New Guineans from villages along the Kokoda Track stepped up as carriers and porters. They walked for miles, carrying heavy loads, while their bravery knew no bounds. These selfless men not only delivered vital supplies to the front lines but also undertook the daunting task of rescuing the sick and wounded, often guiding them through the treacherous mud.
Join us as we pay tribute to these unsung heroes whose contributions during the Kokoda Campaign are a shining example of human spirit, sacrifice, and unity. Let their stories inspire and remind us of the remarkable resilience that can be found in the darkest of times.

The Fuzzi Wuzzi, Angels, your faith, is true and good. You risked your lives for strangers, doing the work of God. As men lay, dying, lying in the rain and mud. Nothing could be done. Then Jesus brought you Angels, to heal them, with your faith and love. You understood Gods message, more than many could. You put your trust in Jesus, for all your worldly needs, which freed you from wealth and gread. Your kindness & compassion, filled your Hearts with Love. God Bless you all.

I have deeply studied the war in the pacific and find the new guinea campaign the most fascinating and toughest battles through incredibly nasty conditions, not taking away from all the battles in the pacific, GUADALCANAL, bougainville etc etc fought by the Americans, Australia, English, and not to forget the kiwis and the fuzzy wuzzys, i really gained a great respect for the aussie soldiers who fought on that kokoda track, even the Japanese said the aussies were a formidable tough fighting force that they believed they could quite easily defeat but they were in for a shock, well done to the Australian military for doing there share and more to defeat a very determined dangerous enemy in the Japanese

I am not a believer, nor do I practice any religion, but this message is true! And the tremendous service Papuans did for Aussies and Yankees has to be always present in textbooks, films, and lectures about WW2! I was there at the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary, and even not being Aussie, nor American, nor having anything to do with the belligerent nations I was very very moved listening at the speeches and looking at the graves. In a similar way we should also take a moment and consider the actual plight our friends from Western Papua are enduring. Indonesia, the Netherlands, Australia, the USA could much improve the conditions for a real solution of the autonomy issue. Or do we need another Timor Leste crisis again??

My father his brother and my mothers brother who was killed on the trail all fought there, buna and gona. As well, throw in the middle east also. One must know that the fuzzy wuzzys were paid for what they did, they also had a battalion fighting as well. Also some were courier's for the Japanese. Myself father and his brother both suffered from malaria most of their life because of the campaign plus scrub typhus and dysentery.

Jesus saves in more ways than one. He sent missionaries to share the gospel, saving the souls and transforming the hearts of Papuan's. The medical clinics that were built to treat them, were later used to treat the wounded in battle. The SDA Papuan's demonstrated the love of Christ, there is no greater mortal example of "love your neighbour as yourself" than this. And as a result, Australia was spared. Thank you Lord Jesus for sending your disciples into the world, the full result of this work is not often realised initially.

There are some churches that preach the Bible but may not stress the importance of Baptism or believe that it is necessary and that is the reason that some of their congregation still has addictions to drugs or alcohol and so they have addiction meetings as well but they would not even have the addictions if they were to love Jesus and have sorrow over sins and go in the water to be Baptized and have their sins spiritually washed away by the love of Jesus. See Acts 2 38. Acts 22 16. Also read the book of Matthew chapters 20 and 22.

The people of New Guinea are just good, when they get to know you. That is with or without the Christian & Muslim religion. The ones who worked with and for me were exceptional people morally. Christians could use their morals many times. This is a very good video but the Christian part is way overplayed. Of course there are many good Christian people also but all people of the world are good until someone teaches hate and fear.

The Incredible Journey: what do you mean by your statement @8:51 "...by the 22nd January 1943, all organised resistance by the Japanese in Papua New Guinea had ceased." You make it sound like that was the end of the PNG campaign - it wasn't. There were still MAJOR battles to be fought including at Mau (February 1943), Salamaua-Lae (April-September 1943), Dumpu (September-October 1943), Shaggy Ridge (October 1943-January 1944), Madang (February-April 1944), etc.

Thank God for the holy transformation of Papuan brothers and sisters; He used them in a mighty way. The "fuzzy wuzzy" name, in my humble opinion, seems very offensive. No one can help the way God made them or their hair. We can point out many imperfections in each other. Of course, that would be unchristian-like and displeasing to the Lord. The Papuans are people, brothers, and sisters used by God; speak of them as such.
