With this episode we begin an entire new series for the channel:
The Misfit Devlog
Over the course of this Devlog, you'll see what's being developed, but also why it's being developed that way. And along the way, I will certainly need your guidance and feedback.
But this is not going to be your typical devlog. I suspect what will differentiate it from the typical will be the teaching aspect. I.E., explaining the 'why'- why I'm doing things a certain way, and getting your feedback accordingly. I have a sense people appreciated this from the original series.
But also, we're going to cover stuff you won't find in a typical devlog. Like what are the foundational elements of good story? Good characters? Think of this entire series as one level of abstraction up from the previous series in terms of RPG making.
My hope is that you find this new series both informative and entertaining. Where the previous series was 95% educational, 5% entertainment, my aim is for this to be closer to a 50/50 split.

These episodes will come out every other week going forward, with 57 second tutorials also every other week. I anticipate each of these episodes to be less than 10 minutes long, with a typical length of 4-6 minutes.

the "... 57 second tutorials" are for the advanced group, Lotta unnecessary numbers in there, I'm dying to see how the math works, I'll guess he means Tutorial Episodes, ranging from 4-6 minutes but sped up they will only actually be 57 seconds long. Kinda like the Lets Build the RPG .. its not really an rpg its just a free for all and these aren't really tutorials they are shorts. You'll be left with more wrong questions than results. Definitions are important. But we will still watch because.. you're just that damn likeable.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: your videos have been the most useful and informative tool I’ve found to help me learn. Keep doing what you’re doing! Best of luck with everything

One of my favourite things from your RPG series was the longer length of episodes you would do. A long episode meant you covered more information. All-in-all, I'd say the best thing your series had going for it was the amount of information you covered over the many hours of work you put into it. I hope you aren't shortening your episodes because you think people want them shorter. Shorter is not better when it comes to teaching. I can assure you that most of your loyal subscribers would prefer the longer (30+min) episodes. Do what you do though.

What I found is that most people got to a point in the series where they had the confidence to branch out and begin building something on their own. And that really was my original hope and goal- to teach others to bring their imagination to life rather than living in someone else's imagination. The series is sufficient for anyone who takes the time to go through those 80 episodes (or the majority of them), to get to the point where they have the confidence to strike out on their own. But then the question is WHAT to create. And WHY to create it. Most devs in my experience do not have good answers to those questions. You might say, "It's entirely subjective, what is good, what is not, etc." I disagree, but more on that next episode.

I just have to express how much I admire your ability to speak and teach with such economy of words. I think your brain goes back in time so you can find out what you’re going to say before you say it! 👍👍👍

I see someone has been playing around with some physics handling. Nice to see you keep going on the channel. I do like your idea about manipulating the environment to produce the results, like bringing water to fire and creating steam or bubbles.
