What a shame, she's asking the government for assistance, the very people who created this MESS.

How about first, and foremost, reducing the tax burden on taxpayers by cutting the carbon tax. I’ll bet that will, within a few weeks or months, that will reduce the numbers of people having to use the food banks nation wide. It won’t stop the need for food banks but will reduce it. Food banks are and have been a critically vital means of feeding people who are struggling to make ends meet. The carbon tax makes this even more difficult for these people because, even if they are not being taxed directly the cost of food and essential services are increasing because of the carbon taxes.

Yes there were people barely getting by before the carbon tax and inflation a problem was speculated but just ignored they tax the farmers that grow the food too so lots of farms will go under food will be more expensive. It should be the large factories etc. that need pay more for polluting not average people just trying to survive. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LfQNCQVvMJg.html

There might be a need for food banks, but when people put booze, cars, cell phones, children they never could afford, smokes, and tattoos ahead of feeding them selves…. It’s like feeding pigeons, the more you give them, the more show up.

Is there a study out there that concludes that these are the folks represented by food bank users ? Covid decimated many lower income earner sources of income. Rent/mortgage costs have increased SUBSTANTIALLY for many, and grocery and other essential needs have escalated far beyond increases in wages. This has put the squeeze on a significant number of families. Hoping you never have to feel the stress and desperation of wondering how you are going to feed your family.

One has to ask " How is it that demand for food banks is escalating ? " Uncontrolled cost of accommodation and huge increases in cost of food mostly. How is federal government responsible for either of these ? More importantly, what chance would there be that CONS government would do anything to improve ?

Our governments, no matter municipal, provincial, or federal, they have so many money to use to help the poor of low level peoples in order to obtain their votes in coming elections. When governments have no money to pay the welfare, increase of taxes is one of the best way to support the political party to protect their position in the government. If increase in taxes results in a large objection from the taxpayers, the government will use the last resource to increase income and that is "selling bonds". No taxpayers will suffer from "selling bonds" for the current year and coming few years in taxes payment. But it is a bomb for my future generations.

We Need Government legislation to force Grocery Stores to stop being greedy and stop increasing prices every other month. More Government legislation to stop Landlords being greedy on rent prices. Not a band aid Grocery rebate that only helps for a few days of food but won't do nothing to help anyone long term. We need long term Government legislation to stop Corporations and landlords being greedy and taking advantage of people. Also legislation that forces Companies to increase employees salaries to actually match inflation. Also Government to increase disability payments to be double what they are now to actually help those in need. This would actually help people long term.

What you're advocating has been tried before and doesn't work. You can't just control prices because that affects supply in the long run. Unfortunately we need less government in the system and the system overtime will correct itself. More the government gets involved with rebates/ handouts or price-fixing will make it even worse.
@michaelolive5070
@michaelolive5070 Год назад
@brettthomas5605 I understand there are no simple solutions. However, as the number of people unable to make ends meet increases (largely due to inflation and profiteering far exceeding income gains), something has to change. While I'm not a fan of government intervention, at some point, there needs to be some dynamic to offset the rich getting richer and the poor, poorer. Your solution ?
@brettthomas5605
@brettthomas5605 Год назад
@@michaelolive5070 there are solutions,but way too many and nor do I want to describe them on RU-vid. But I will say this,there needs to be an immediate change of government with a change of policy. Also all carbon taxes have to go now!! It is killing the working class in this country. Taxes will do nothing for the environment. Example here being British Columbia. Emissions are not going down by applying taxes. What they are doing is destroying people's lives by adding fuel to the inflation fire!!
@michaelolive5070
@michaelolive5070 Год назад
@brettthomas5605 Saying there are solutions but I won't summarize them is lame. The "we need to get rid of JT" is simple and predictable. Studies have shown that carbon taxes do shift behavior change, in part owing to economics/profit optimization, and you're correct in saying taxes in themselves will not change the environment. Investment in reducing use of fossil fuels will. This is my biggest issue with carbon taxes. Simply flipping it back to lower income earners doesn't change much. In my opinion, the Green Party was once the best hope for real change, however it has completely lost traction.
