I have been singing since I was 10 and I am now 77. The young men singing lead on this song were members of The Jackson Southernaires before younger brother Frank formed this choir. My group opened up a concert for them in the 80s.... I have a friend who lives in Assen.
I was born in Gulfport Mississippi 22 September 1936. We were poor, but we didn't know it. I was saved when seven years old in Victory Missionary Baptist Church. Good memories.
I am in South Africa it is 1:12 in the morning on Saturday, I am sitting in front of my laptop chasing a deadline for Monday. I thought I should take a break and listen to some gospel Music and I came across this song. I have never cried like this in my life, I felt something I have never felt before. Like I have lived to hear this song in the past and yet I have never heard it before. O Jesus!
I am also from Germany and do like Gospel. There is a fire in this that is burning. Germans sure need God. Young people are turning their heads the other way. We need prayers for them. As a roman catholic I had a relationship with God from early on. Pray and sing for open hearts to Jesus!
I'm an atheist from Turkey, and I cry when I hear gospel music. Last year I went to Mt. Zion's Church in Harlem, NYC on a sunday morning. It was the best experience of my life. The congregation over there is the most welcoming, warmest group of people I've seen in my life. If any among you have the means to go there, I strongly suggest you should.
It’s not about the energy! Devotion run deeper. When African American slaves song this it’s what carried them through and it was passed down to us. Now we gotten away from it
I am of Afro Brazilian origin and I would like to express my satisfaction and also admiration for these men and women who use their beautiful voices to glorify our Lord God, you will be forever blessed for this, greetings from Brazil.
I'm from Mississippi and still reside here today and we used to go to the gospel concerts and I remember the night Mr.Frank Williams passed and I was 9 years old and I absolutely love the old gospel music cause I definitely feel the spirit move in me❤️🙋🏾♀️
I love the ole black church. I wish I could just sit in a service back in the day.... Thanks to all my fore bearers for bringing such humbling and spiritual music to life. You kept me grounded in God
This is soul starving gospel from the South. Thank God for our grandparents belief in the Lord. This kind of music gets you thru those dark and evil trials.
This Gospel Praise music gets a lot of people through the hard times. We know who was trying to stop our song, but this is how we got through it. We had to hear your music anyway we could. As a young person, stood outside your church and listened until it was way past my time to be home. Wasn't a Christian and never heard the Good News, but it stuck in my heart until I was blessed with Salvation. PTL
when i went to a black church on a trip for confirmation. i was absolutely BLOWN away. the gospel choir was so amazing and just would not stop praising and singing. it is definitely one of my favorite memories
Grew up in an old, stiff southern baptist church that had a piano and a pipe organ only. This lively music does so much more to inspire my faith than a lot of those old piano hymns ever could. As a guitarist who loves the blues and has some spirituality about himself (I consider myself to be a christian), gospel music hits so much harder to my soul than any boring piano and organ church hymn ever could. Plus, it's just such an awesome thing that all of the gifted singers in this choir are fully comfortable with, and not afraid to share and use their musical talents that the lord gave them to their full extent. In white churches, that soulful bluesy sound doesn't exist at all. I think that old-style gospel music has so much more of an impact on a much deeper level to the listener. That really brings a lot more potential to have the listener connect with what is being said and expressed throughout gospel music. Something about that style just really connects on a different level.
Im a muslim too and yes i love how every religion praises the lord , holy spirit and god because love pure love is in every soul god bless everyone in this video and his voice
@@kevinvasse7499 Allah is just arabic for god. The reason people like you think the word allah is exclusively Muslim is because arabic is a middle eastern language and the middle east is a predominantly Islamic region
🙌🏾🙌🏾Nothing compares to this good gospel that I grew up hearing every Sunday morning, as a kid sitting on the mother board with my great grandma. I miss those days 😭
I'm from Mississippi been in Erie Pa 5 years and I can remember opening up church every Sunday morning with this song and the lord would just come on in the building and make his presence known i love this song
My people: pastor said 'i am happy to be from Mississippi. whatever is on the bottom is holding you up.' He said proud of MISSISSIPPI. This is true praise of our LORD JESUS and the HOLY SPIRIT. This is praise of our LORD JESUS and the HOLY SPIRIT.
This is such an amazing act of culture right here. I can't belive how beatiful is this. I'm an Atheist! But this... this right here is some amazingly beatiful thing. I love how black people shows their faith and faith with singing. Singing songs for Jesus. I wish every religions, prayings was like this.

I'm not a Christian or religious, but this puts a smile on my face. The unity of people to perform a singular task and producing the most beautiful sounds I have heard.

I really miss this man he can sing but cancer took him away from us, he's one of the Williams brothers. Mississippi is one of the greatest and discipline choirs around. I have been listening to them from in the 80's and the musicians are great, I use to love listen to Al Willis on guitar he's bad.

Lord, we need you. The Body of Christ needs to go back to SINGING & PRAISING these old songs because we've strayed soooooo far away from Truth, Peace, Holiness, and Treating one another with the God Kind of Love. We must needs GET BACK TO THE WORD. I'm a witness GOD IS STILL WORKING MIRACLES.
I'm Latino and I was raised in an Apostolic Pentecostal church. We had and still have a move of the Holy Spirit. There is still shouting, hand clapping, and the miraculous. I go to a live church, where a live God moves.

Nah, this black as hell if you'll pardon my French ma'am. Don't mean it ain't a gift for the whole world to enjoy and love though. This ALL us and god though.
I love listening to gospel music in the morning it gets my mind focused on god and ready for the days journey I'm about to face.I love the lord with my all heart mind body and soul and thank God for each and every blessing and for his grace and mercy that has keep me here.
I'm happy to be from Mississippi also. I'm not black though. Mama was Russian and daddy is Choctaw and French. We didn't go to church when I was a kid in Jefferson county because daddy was always drinking. I would sometimes ride my bike down the road to the M.B. church and sit outside and listen to them sing on Sunday morning. I think it brought a lot of healing to my hurting soul. Helped me know that there was Someone above us who watched us and didn't let anything too bad happen. I'd just sit under a window and listen and sometimes cry. The ladies would give me fried chicken or catfish afterwards. My little brother would come for the food but he didn't listen to the singing like me. Daddy didn't want us hanging out at a black church. I remember one lady named Miss Ophilia. Sweet, good folks. I left Mississippi when I was 18 but that was a big mistake. I go to the Russian Orthodox Church today, but I still love listening to this Gospel music. We might be a bit separated in Mississippi, but we all Missippians, black, white, indian, even the Chinese in the Delta. One day Jesus is gonna bring us all together. Thank y'all. And Jesus Christ bless Mississippi!
This should be a book. I'm black but my dad lived in Russia most of his life, speaks and writes fluently. He would tell me of the beauty of the Russian Orthodox churches. But my grandma who lived in Jersey, would have Mississippi praise music playing in her home all day. Hence too, why I'm here. Nostalgically... Jesus loves you
Both AFRICANS and AFRO-AMERICANS GOT the talent gospel runs through their veins lord be with us as an african i feel lifted moved by this song and more GLORRY BE TO GOD AMEN Up coming Namibian Gospel atist
even though i'm an atheist, may i be dammed if i discard music like this just because of a difference in belief. Good music is good music, as simple as that.
Oh man , this type of some choirs is kinda unique . So even if I'm a Filipino teenager , I search this on the search bar ! Godbless you guys , I love you💓💓💓
im not religious, im an atheist. but if we have some good peole with good voices like this on churchs here in brazil, i m sure church could be my second house.....
I went to a church like this on vacation in Mississippi. I was a 14 year old white kid. I've always wanted to go back to a Southern church after that. There were only two other white families there. It was amazing.
God wants us to be ever moving forward so we can discover the fullness of the life He came to provide. And as people who follow Him, we want to go forward too. We desire all the fullness of life that God offers to us.
I from Mississippi. Biloxi had this one church that I use to attend. I did choir in my old church but a friend recommended me go this church to get practiced. I went there knowing I was the only white girl. I walked through those doors and the preacher of that church told me it didn't matter what I looked like. I was welcomed... it's been fourteen years and I'm glad I grew up in that church.
