The Mizuno Sky Medal reminds me of Saucony, in a good way!

The reason Mizuno makes you think of baseball is its founder’s obsession with the sport. Is it a serious running shoe? It was in early ‘90s when Carl Lewis wore it. Mizuno is still a good long distance choice, but its aggressive design - that often includes insane rocker geometry - may leave some wondering. ‘90s-‘00s mesh and/or technical runners are super heavy by modern standards. I would never run in them… not even treadmill running. There are too many solid options out there that have decades of evolution and innovation over these. There was a definitive look to running shoes of the era and purpose. The era is what many would call the birth of CrossFit as an official sport until itself. So, many of the models were multi-disciplinary by design and engineering and look. That tongue is for lockdown and to keep it in place. It is a sort of gusset solution. That much material keeps debris out as it provides protection from lace pressure across the top of one’s feet. The stripped down gusset tongues of our day typically just hold your feett in place. Think of Mizuno Sportlife as a type of adidas or Saucony Originals range. ✌🏽💙👟

I’ve been waiting for a review on this brand as I’ve been hesitant to purchase without knowing how they fit! I feel confident in purchasing and as you mentioned David they look a bit narrow to me which is why I haven’t pulled the trigger as my feet are not narrow nor wide they’re somewhere in between; I guess you would say they’re slightly on the wide side!😅😂😊
