The MKC X Field Craft Survival EDC Knife was designed by Master Bladesmith Josh Smith and survival experts Mike Glover and Kevin Estela. Over a year of research and development went into this blade. This knife was designed to be the ultimate EDC (Every Day Carry) blade. It can be easily concealed for self-defense or carried on your pack or waistband for bushcraft-style use.
As previously mentioned, this knife is designed to be an EDC blade. It can be carried inside the pocket of most pants with just the end of the handle exposed. This knife can be carried on either side of the body for utility or defense. It is small enough to be carried every day but also large enough to be a real tool that can be used harder than the folding knife in your pocket. The blade steel is CPM 154, a proven workhorse, and the design is heavily inspired by spearpoint blades used from various makers in the bushcraft realm.
The FieldCraft EDC knife also has bird and trout vibes, and those familiar with the MKC line will see clear similarities in the handle design and construction of our other hunting knives. Josh and Kevin wanted to provide a blade design that works well for many different applications and a construction style that would hold up to actual use. Whether you are using this knife in the field while fishing and hunting or carrying it with self-defense in mind, you can be sure this knife will stand up to the toughest tasks.
It’s important to Josh and Kevin that we provide tools that can be used in various ways. Even though this knife was designed with self-defense and concealment in mind, we also know that it’s incredibly rare that this knife will be needed for that. We also wanted to make a blade that could be useful in the field, around the home, or at work.
CONCEALABLE KYDEX SHEATH
Each MKC X Field Craft Survival EDC knife comes with a Kydex sheath that can be easily concealed under your clothes or tucked inside of your waistband. The Kydex sheath has a built-in fabric grabbing clip that swivels for perfect placement and comfort. Also, the Kydex sheath has a special indexing tab to make it easy to return your blade to the sheath without looking down at the sheath.

Just got one of these in the mail today. Blown away by the quality. Sharpest out of the box knife I’ve ever purchased. Fit and finish is outstanding as well. Presuming it holds up, and I have no reason to believe it won’t at this point, best knife purchase I’ve ever made. Well done MKC!

I love my MKC X FCS EDC Knife. Y'all did an amazing job on it! PS - for those interested, I had Josh Smith (MKC) and later Kevin Estela (Field Craft Survival) on my podcast. Video versions on my page. In Kevin's interview, he talked a lot about this knife and the collaboration.

Why is everything you make over $300? Sorry, but there are many of us that just cannot afford to spend that on a knife. Sadly we would also like to carry a good EDC knife.

Bc they're making everything using honest labor here in the US instead of slave labor overseas. American made products haven't gotten more expensive, our dollar has lost value over 40 years of shipping out jobs. A person making a knife puts 5-7hrs of labor into the blade and another 30 min on the sheath - obviously not including heat treatment or tempering time. Low income after Bidenomics is around $50k/yr. If he pays his employees $30/hr, which is decent pay, the labor cost alone per knife on the low end is $165 + benefits. When you start adding up the depreciation and wear on equipment along with profit and taxes, you get a price tag around $300.
@lifetruth.2631
@lifetruth.2631 4 месяца назад
@@atxjaphotos4217 honest labor, but not honest financial rates. There many great countries in the world that charge an honest rate. Not everything from overseas comes from China. Look around you, Americans are buying foreign. Why are they is the only question. It's always about cost. Americans just cannot afford anymore to be screwed by their own.
@atxjaphotos4217
@atxjaphotos4217 4 месяца назад
@@lifetruth.2631 I think you tried saying exactly what I said, but you made a few random assertions, so I'm not sure. American companies using American labor have to pay honest rates bc if they dont, they fail or export jobs. It is that simple. If you aren't buying American made products, then you are part of the problem.

We make them in CPM Magnacut now (this video is over a year old) and for being an American made knife, including the kydex sheath and a 100% guaranteed lifetime warranty and maintenance program it’s pretty on par with other companies at similar quality. Thanks for your comment!
