This sounds like an amazing villain character. Could make him feel damn near impossible to get one over if played smart.

I have a build called the chess master, where the point was to move any peice on the board. Mark of hospitality halfling for aid and good berry. Quandrix back ground for vortex warp, enlarge/reduce and haste on the spell list and absorb elements, mage hand, and guidance from the initiate. One in order cleric for Voice of authority, bless, Healing word, thermaturgy, and heavy armour and shields. So when you cast a levelled spell on an ally they can make a reaction attack (and it's on your turn, so rogues in your party can use their sneak attack again). Then the rest of the way in Glamour Bard. 3rd level Mantle of Inspiration uses bardic inspiration die to give your allies temp hp and movement speed which doesn't provoke opportunity attacks from enemies. 6th level Mantle of Majesty gives you a bonus action command which doesn't cost a spell slot for a minute. The whole play style is: ACTION: concentrating on bless, enlarge/reduce, or haste on an ally (giving an ally an attack) then spam healing word, cure wounds, Aid, and vortex warp (more ally attacks). BONUS ACTION: Mantle of majesty, Mantle of inspiration, bardic inspiration. REACTION: Level 1 spells should be saved for silvery barbs every round possible. Super powerful synergy with voice of authority. Aid and motivational speech stack to make the whole party tanky. And you have 9 cantrips for utility. Your damage per round ends up pretty great with out damaging anything because you can give your whole party reaction attacks with out opportunity.

Years back, I played this multiclass in HoTDQ (Div Wizard 5 / MM Rogue 3). I never planned on multiclassing at the start. It only started after our party met a npc on the road who took a liking to our party. My wizard wanted to learn her tricks and she gave him some training over the course of the journey before splitting.

Misdirection works better if you're grappling a meat shield, dead or alive. Being a Rogue with reliable talent, you can have Expertise Athletics. And you can flavor your magic to be grenades but you'll want to look into Artificer. 3 Levels in Artificer, 2 in Wizard, 15 in Mastermind. OR 5 Artillerist, 2 Divine Wizard, & 13 in Mastermind Rogue. For a rod/cane that's also an Arcane Firearm & 2nd level Artificer Spells. This makes a mook (Homunculus) with a Flamethrower or Force Ballista possible. Artificer can replicate magic items such as Pipe of Smoke Monsters for that cigar. The coolest part is that Artificer's and their Spells all require Tools, or mechanically accurate, all their spells have the Material Component and Infusions can be used as a Spellcasting Focus. You can create Smoke-based Spells from your cigar. The two 2nd-level spells mentioned in the video, Web & Vortex Warp, are both Artificer Spells. As an Artillerist, you also would gain Shatter, so your utility cigar can come with sonic, web, smoke/firework grenades.

I went Gravitury Wizard on mine. The bonus to Strength checks is huge for grappling with expertise. Misdirection is easiest to use against a grappled enemy.

I had a similar character name Sideburns for Burns for short who was a goblin styled in a similar manner with notable features being large sideburns. He was also a sorcerer instead of a wizard for the draconic vibe supposedly influencing his behavior, and I took the assassin background deciding to focus more on sorcerer get those devastating critical hits with spells like scorching ray. Edit: He also shared a backstory with the barbarian who was the loyal muscle to my character.

Im not gonna lie Sage, i saw the title i thought 'oh Fibinanchi 3.0'. Im starting a new campaign today and im not gonna lie was thinking of merging Fibinachi 1.0 and 2.0 together. MM Rogue 4/Elequence Bard 16. Changeling. Take keen mind and war caster. And my weapon either a bow or a whip.

This is a pretty cool idea. I'm assuming a first lv of Rogue. I would probably make this character a Noble. Someone who became a person of the upper class who earned it by pretending to be someone else. Expert in persuasion and deception. To help you solidify your false persona of this pretender noble
@lastdracon
@lastdracon 11 месяцев назад
@LoreFoundry I would have gone criminal for contacts. But with changeling there is no check for false identity it's the actor feat but no checks. MM gives voice mimicking which now I think about it gives no value as you could theoretically change your vocal cords. He would effectively be a sneak attack hitting, spell slinging, skill monkey. But I'm still new to the game though.
@LoreFoundry

@@lastdracon right, you're correct. I would just go noble for the relationship with the upper class

Ok I've mentioned this build before on few other character ideas. But if you play a fairy swarm keeper ranger, one of the suggested swarm creatures is pixies. You can be a fairy don with invincible pixies as your Mafia

If you wanted to level this character up as growing into that mob boss role, one of the strixhaven backgrounds would also be a good option to diversify your low level spells. I think each school would also lean into a different an interesting version of a character.

I have a challenge build idea in mind that I would love to see you make. I call it Lightning Quasi-Monk. Mechanically it would mostly be Draconic (Blue or Bronze) Sorcerer with Quicken and Twinned Shocking Grasp as main offensive strategy while concentrating on some spell (don't know which one)

I prefer loremaster subclass for when i splash into wizard for CC's Lore Master"s 2nd level feature allow to add your Int to you Initiative roll. When you're a mastermind/loremaster, you help your allies while making your magical debuffs change the elemental damage and the saving throw type effortlessly. Alchemical Casting feature can really be handy too, you can expand the damage, range or increase the save dc of your lower 1 spells and cantrips.

i actually made a video on tiktok about this this morning i basically took a tiefling for fire resistance, gained proficiency in alchemists supplies and made him an arsonist/ demolitions expert with stuff like alchemist fire thief rogue for fast hands + conjuration wizard for minor conjuration summoning alchemist fire and powder horns if your DM allows it

I built something simliar to his but as a doomsayer or soothsayer, but I added grave cleric for when I have a nat20 saved up with portent, with "Path of the Grave"I can get a uber crit with one of my more damaging allies. I was built primarily at a support charcter, with Kenku lineage for estetic reasons. Bare min 6 divine wiz(start), 6 grave cleric, 3 MM rogue, any more lvls will go into wizard. Turn sets up on a single target, bonus help , held action to help after first is spent, then familiar uses held action to help afterwards. Alternatively, with the same abilities help action on three different targets. Neither are optimal starts buts it's something I'd like to do.

This reminds me of a NPC boss I made for a campaign, but I went Battlemaster instead of Wizard, as it let her trade her attacks for her assassins'.

At fighter level 5, total 8 she could use her 2 attacks for her Rogue minions to get an extra sneak attack each turn, then bonus action help one while her familiar from a feat helped the other.

An interesting build, but more of a party leader/face than a mob boss in my mind.

I like the idea of this with an enchantment wizard too, maybe with a level of artificer or cleric for Sanctuary. Sanctuary works really well with hypnotic gaze since its not a spell or attack, and it also lends well to the idea that you are always in control. Sanctuary also works really well with all the help actions we are giving out like candy since it wont break sanctuary to help allies. If we took cleric for Sancuary we could also go Order domain, and grab healing word, so we can now use our action to help at 30ft, then bonus action heal an ally with healing word, and then let them make an attack using their reaction from Voice of Authority with advantage from the help. Technically none of that breaks Sanctuary since they are making the attacks, we are just giving our henchmen the orders lol, all this while we potentially keep other creatures locked down using hypnotic gaze.

Challengebuild: a PC that can cast all of the cantrips. You can, if you cant do it with only published material you can use some ua stuf with things like the scion of the fire plane, which is one of the few feats that gives you 2 cantrips. And you cant use the tashas optional feature where the wizard can swap out cantrips in rests

Build challenge: Forge Cleric/Battlesmith or Armorer Artificer. Not sure about Race, probably Dwarf but I kind of like Kenku for it. Would love to see your take. The flavor is that of an artisan in the field of blacksmithing, guided by his/her/their deity.
@LoreFoundry
@LoreFoundry 11 месяцев назад
So I believe if I did this. I would go 3 levels of armorer first, because I want con proficiency. Then the rest I would go cleric. I still get heavy armor because it's a part of the subclass. And now I have a solid base for a bruiser control mage. I'd want 13 int, and prioritize wisdom and constitution

ASIs/feats? Also if you could start with magical items(2 uncommon or 1 rare), what would you choose for this build? I'm looking at Dragon Wing Light Crossbow or Crossbow of Warning at the moment.
