The Möbius band is a simple, mathematically important, and wonderfully entertaining two-dimensional object that has only one surface and one edge and is therefore of great interest in topology.

The Mobius band needs the 3rd spatial dimension to exist because of the twist. Isn't it then still a 3D object?

I know what you're saying but, mathematically speaking. it's a 2-dimensional object embedded in a third dimension. In and of itself it has only 2 dimensions.

@@discovermaths Would you describe a Klein bottle similarly - as a 3-dimensional object in a 4-dimensional space?

@@KarlSmith1 The Klein bottle is also 2-dimensional (a 2D manifold) but, unlike the Mobius band, it can't be embedded in 3D-space. That's why we can't properly visualise it. It can only ne embedded in 4D space.
