Well, you can't upgrade the source, so gmod 2 need to have a better engine

Gmod will always be very janky and clunky if its not moved to new engine

It *should be, but we all know this isn't going to happen. Focus shifted almost entirely to S&Box which I absolutely despise. People call it Gmod 2 when it is an entirely separate game, more similar in functioning to Roblox.

@@LugiDergX Not true. Gmod still receives updates every now and then.

@@RetroCube Now ask yourself what kind of updates those are. You need to differ between small bugfix/quality of life features and similar updates and actual content updates to a game.

@@LugiDergX It's like a 10 year old game that doesn't really have a "campaign/survival" based feature to it that would necessitate actual updates like Rimworld or Barotrauma though. This workshop addon is great as well but is also a QOL feature like you're describing (but regardless it would be awesome to add to the game). They have also made smaller content updates particularly for addon developers, such as more functions for NPCs/Entities, and changes to the hammer editor with gmod. If you don't make mods or have never touched lua in your life on Gmod I can understand it seems like there's barely updates. Buuuut you're also playing gmod to download addons off the workshop to fuck around with so... Who cares? Also yeah if your game is like 10 years old and you want to make a new one, I imagine you'd move developers to it. It makes sense, even though S&box is literally ass.

Gmod 12, there was no ingame workshop in gmod 10

Disabling addons unfortunately is not possible.

@@SweetPie9809 He’s talking about the mod. You can not unmount addons mid game. It’s straight up impossible. And the Workshop Tab is the substitute for the enabling addons thing

@@SweetPie9809 Yes the mod itself, if you got already subscribed addons though, you can simply hotload them, from the unmounted tab, so basically you are enabling them in game.

I remember the old “Living house” models I used to love using. My models are more or less inspired by them. Hopefully this will help us discover some new silly items like old times! This will make those one-item workshop items make sense!

Its source engine loading m8, there's nothing even the mod creator can do about it.

Like enchanted book said, the lag is inevitable. Especially to big addons, source engine will lag when loading and mounting it all

What are your pc specs? I'm just curious since I don't get any lag when I have steam and Gmod open.

@@Quackbutonsteroids I mean, they could still think of making an in-game workshop browser with features for hotloading most addons like this addon does. If a mod developer can do it, I would imagine the people behind the actual game could as well. It's not like it's impossible. And yes, I do know differences between modding and game development, at least some of the differences that are important. Just saying that this could be done.

It won't work on cracked Garry's Mod. This addon relies on Steam Workshop to work, which can be directly accessed by a mod only if the game is installed through Steam. I don't know how some people still don't understand such basic things in 2022. Cracked Garry's Mod has no way of communicating with Steam Workshop in order to download and mount content directly from it, you can only download and install Steam Workshop addons manually by using websites that grab content (files) from Steam Workshop addon page URL.
