THIS IS NOT A TUTORIAL It is more of a daily personal diary, or perhaps a vlog, centered around the building of plastic model ships. Don’t be surprised when I unexpectedly, but usually just momentarily, get into something completely unrelated. I was big into building models years ago. Apparently I’m trying to bring back “the good old days” by building plastic model ships. In this series I’ve already built ---
Trumpeter’s 1/200 scale Bismarck
• The Model Ship - Part 31
Trumpeter’s 1/200 scale HMS Hood
• The Model Ship - Part 519
Trumpeter’s 1/200 scale HMS Rodney
• The Model Ship - Part ...
Trumpeter’s 1/200 scale USS Iowa
• The Model Ship - Part ...
Now I’m building Trumpeter’s 1/48th scale U552 Submarine
• The Model Ship - Part ...
Also in this series I’ve built a very large model ship case that will hold up to five 1/200 scale ships.
• The Model Ship - Part 482
I was thinking of adding the very popular 1/200 scale Yamato to my stash, but later realized that it would likely be too much for me … but we’ll see.
Feel free to learn from my mistakes while I muddle through this.

Hi Ron, Great video today. I'm guessing Trumpeter knew that there were several tanks on the sub that were the same length. Instead of molding some with locating pins and others without, they just made them all the same. I would remove those pins myself. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff

Hi Ron, another great episode today….👍 On looking into I think that the sink may well be steel, enamelled white…..or porcelain…either way it’s white In colour….…… from the images I looked at it did look that way…..🤔 Take care. Best Regards Gary

Great episode Ron. I would wite up your led’s first then install them. Excess wire can always be tucked out of sight. All caught up now. Got my trailer back so I should be back on normal hrs next week. Take care n see you tonight.

Hi Ron, just an idea but you could tapper the sides of your new wooden mudguard so the width is reduced once it starts going over the wheel. That should aid in swinging your leg over it. Of course that is a balancing act of ensuring the water is still all captured by the board to how much easier it is getting on to the bike. Similarly you could plane the thickness of the board down a bit at the end by a few mm to help. I suppose you again have the trade off between making a difference and being too fragile if the material is too thin. I'd imagine once done though and a quick coat of waterproof black paint and a few holes drilled into the rack on the bike itself, that you could screw into and it would look purpose made for the job. That said perhaps a nice piece of plastic, similar to your perspex that is in your model case, might be a better material to use? Thinner with a bit more flex, also easier to drill holes in and zip tie to the bike rack underneath. Anyhow, that is a workshop video I wouldn't mind seeing if you ever need a break from the model table. 🙂 Have a good day.

Hi Ron. Video time 21.07, the pins for the tank on the drawing are protruding so need to remain. We imagine that on the original sub that this tank may be interchangeable with the previous tanks installed. In other words the pins may be part of the tank rather than a positioning aid for the model. Regards UK Jimmy and vicky

Good episode Ron, it seems to.me some of those parts could have better, stronger and easier ways to be attached like that tank you added it looks very easily breakable but overall all the detail parts in that kit are really nice, its going to look very impressive when done.

Hey Ron A++++ video today. Once you got it tacked on I was waiting for the overnight rubber band but the wood stick did the job. On macro the placement was perfect and step 17 is in the rear view mirror. Mike

I think the nubs are actually drawn in on the diagram, though the angle used just has the very tips visible.

Hi Mark Evans, Re: *"the nubs are actually drawn in on the diagram"* Yes! I saw that too. Not drawn very clearly, but definitely there. Thanks for noticing. I'm calling them drain plugs for removing condensation, haha!😁 @@soppdrake

Ron, If you look closely at the drawing in Step 13, you can see the edges of the pins under the tank. And about your Scooter, why not make the bike box wider to accommodate both of them. Keep the Gas vehicles and can out of the House.

Hi Ron: the gloves dialing down sounds logical, my diving lamp does the same: when the battery's charge gets lower, it dials down to preserve energy so they will keep working for a longer periode of time.
