Great to see other enthusiast's using the elipson XLS15 speakers too...great speakers and very well made.have not disappointed me at all and I play everything from jazz to death metal.
Really interested in your thoughts on these since I'm pretty sure they'll be my next pair. I have a pair of Lintons and enjoy that sound sand it sounds like these are in a similar vein. I listen to lots of jazz on vinyl so I'm trying to sort through which integrated amp under 2k I could pair it with.
I’d like to see your take on the Magnat Transpuls 1500. Talk about old school. It’s way cheaper in price. It has been reviewed well, but I’d like to see another take.
I got these speakers about a year now and they are absolutely fantastic. For me as a 70s design lover, they are the perfect speakers. But I also have to say, that I was a little disappointed about the bass, when I first played them. The speakers are huge and heavy and the bass goes not that deep, as I thought it would. So I bought a used Nubert AW1000 Subwoofer and now I've got the perfect combination: awesome looking speakers withe a beautiful sound and lots of deep bass
@@MrAlistar99 I listen to Reggae as well :-) If you like the retro style of these speakers and have good equipment to feed these speakers, you will have a lot of fun with them. The speakers are very flexibel, I listen to all kinds of genres: Reggae, Hip Hop, Pop, Techno, Rock, Jazz... mostly Vinyl with Technics 1210, Ortofon 2M Bronze, Lehmannaudio Black Cube SEII and Technics SU G700. Great Combination for me 🙂
Don't forget though that these are high sensitivity. They could have traded some of that for lower reaching bass, but then you also lose the thing which a bigger speaker always does better... dynamics.
that´s true. the bass reproduction of these speakers is certainly excellent. Even in the lower ranges. The only area in which I would no longer want to do without my additional subwoofer is when playing very loud techno music, which sometimes reaches extremely low frequencies in the bass range. I also use my Elipson Heritage XLS 15 in a 30 square meter room for private parties, which is immediately transformed into a club thanks to the power of the two speakers. The speakers really have a lot of power. And even when I watch movies with my system, my subwoofer makes the whole room vibrate during some scenes. I really enjoy that. The subwoofer simply adds more power in the very low bass ranges.
"Overall, I feel they sounded much better than they actually measured." THAT, right there, that ONE sentence, speaks volumes. I like the retro look, but in the $4k price range, there is a lot of competition.
These speakers really remind me of the speakers me and a lot of shipmates bought at the Navy Exchange in Japan back in the 70s. Real retro cool. I would love to pair these with My Marantz 2220b or my Sansui 5050.
These are interesting and I am a big fan of big engine, high efficiency loudspeakers. I am perplexed by the pricing of these. As good as they might be, the price is double of what they sell for in Europe. That price includes VAT. So, the margins for these are huge for the middleman…
This is the SYSTEMATIC complain on every french product review i see on youtube. If you want another compair the JBL L100 is sold around 2200 USD (and i saw 1760 in one place ) in US and it is sold around 5730 dollars in France.
@@audioarkitekts Yep, I like it too!Bought it in Zurich airport. Couldn’t leave Switzerland without buying swiss watch! 😅 Nice video about the Elipsons, had good time watching it. Pleasant format 👍
I auditioned theese at dealers with my amp and the speakers are really wonderfull. What surprised my was how big and huge they are in person. That was a dealbreaker as they are too big for my room. Keeping my eye on XLS11.
Since you reviewed both the Lintons and Model 5s, how do you compare sound? I enjoy the warm vocals and low weight of the Lintons and the higher end neutral detail of the model 5s. Could the XLS 15 be a hybrid? I’ve been looking at these speakers but not much is out there (yet!).
I still stand behind the Model 5. Best value for the performance. XLS15 is nice and Lintons are great as well. But something about the Model 5 is just insatiable.
I'm a total sucker for the modern vintage movement. I'm pushing a pair of Denton 85's with a Yamaha AS-701. All the warm fuzzy goodness of vintage, but very little of the static background noise.
Great review, I've hit the subscribe button! I think I am about to purchase these after a few different speaker auditions. I found the bass on the XLS to be very solid with great slam but it had control when needed. I was fortunate to have a back to back listen with KLH Model 5 as they were of interest too and I found the XLS much superior in bass with an overall a warmer sound (but not lacking detail) and with a bigger soundstage. In the audition I had definately no need for a sub IMO, but rooms differ so I respect opinons/experiences.
I bought elipcon heritage xls 15 a few days ago. I have a sansui A717 series amp. What amp would you recommend for this speaker? Will I get sufficient results with the sansui A717? I want to feel the lower and upper frequencies at low volume. I had canton ergo 91DC series speaker before. I gave them away and bought an elipson heritage xls15 instead. but I couldn't find the sound depth and clarity of canton ergo 91 in elipson heritage xls 15. What would you recommend me?
I state in the video that these speakers don't get down very low. These are excellent midbass-top end speakers. I would just add a subwoofer and all should be well.
i have elipson XLS 15 new pair with my LUXMAN L590 AX MK2 and listening them for some three monts.they perform ok then i hook my REVOX ATRIUM B MK2 vintage speakers from 84 and they totaly blow away ELIPSON like swiss wach in every part from bass to mid all to top end so evident it was emarasing for ELIPSON HERATAGE in this prise .this is my experiance with speakers wich are bettrer then JBL 100 in some opinion.so the box of elipson is just front bass reflex box with new drivers and not near REVOX transmision box and Studer tuning drivers foe that speakers.Maybe my expertion was too big but 4000e is too much for XLS15 my opinion.
