Depending on the state first time OWI and failure to control are classed as traffic violations not crimes so if they’re in one of those states the cops don’t even have the ability to do anything besides release them after. We did the dumb decision of driving to get food, got pulled over. He had all of us get out, talked to us and had us all call our parents, wake them up at 2am and tell them what we did. My friend's mom and dad came to pick all of us, one of them drove my car back for me. And from then on out whenever we drank or smoked, we take all of our keys and place them into a container in the kitchen that was to not be touched till morning. It's been 5 years and every single of us that was there haven't driving under the influence of anything since. It is, but that kind of immediate reaction also kills people. If someone has any kind of spinal injury, the slightest movements can cause permanent damage or death. A girl at my high school was pulled from her car because it was steaming, and they thought it was smoke. Allah said in Surah Al-Mu’minun : “God has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. I've been guilty of that before. It's because 1) you don't want to blatantly lie to the cops and 2) somehow 2 drinks seems to be a "safe" number that it's not enough to get you arrested. At least that was my thought process when I got pulled over.
It's easy to explain and is actually normal behavior given the guy's circumstance. That was the cop who was in the passenger seat and whether the guy wants to admit it, he just went through something that rattled him mentally. While he wasn't panicking like the other officer in the car, he was still going through his own stuff. He was able to keep it together by focusing on helping the other officer and then on the investigation instead of the things going on in his head. So, the same sort of distraction giving him stability shifted from the officer to the guy that was explaining. If you look earlier in the video, he was also grabbing onto the other officer. It's common for humans to grab onto things that give them stability and/or comfort when in chaotic situations. Think of the behavior of little kids when they're scared. As adults, we learn to hide and/or control the behavior because it makes us "look weak." It was also unintentional, given the fact that he apologized once he realized he grabbed onto him. The witness gave him stability by moving his focus to the investigation and also the comfort of knowing that they weren't at fault. Sometimes people make connections really quick, especially in high stress situations. That's usually called "trauma bonding," and despite being police officers, they're still human beings.

PSA: if you witness a rollover accident and the car is on its side with passengers, and there is no sign of fire, you should not try to roll the car back upright. It is possible that the occupant/s of the vehicle could have suffered head/neck/back injuries, and the impact of the car being righted could seriously worsen their injuries, similar to how motorcycle riders are warned not to attempt to remove the helmet from a fallen rider with possible neck injuries. It is absolutely commendable when those citizens helped the officers after the wreck, and it is also important to know that if you see something like this happen, always assess the situation to determine the amount of danger the victims of the crash are in before performing any type of rescue.
My grandfather was a firefighter and my aunt an EMT. I've asked them both about this on several occastions and they've essentially said the same as you have. Unfortunately, this will likely never be something that is widely known. Regardless, good on you for stating it still.

She will only get a slap on the wrist or the prosecutor won’t even choose to pursue it based solely on if she does lawyer up the states chances on this one would go down 75% plus on this case

I got hit by an uninsured motorist. The fort worth police showed up disrespected me (the victim) and left. Didn't even ask what happened. Both cars were totaled. Wtf world am I living in.
Well when you aren't screaming throwing tantrums and saying it's cause I'm black when you aren't calm and irate they have to take you to jail. Cause you can kill someone or yourself do to how mad you are so they have to take you to jail.

I think a lot of it was how she behaved. Not to say, of course she should have gotten the pop on her hand like she did, but she was taking responsibility for her own dumb action, admitting she drank (thought did turn down the breath test), and wasn't belligerent. No one was hurt either, which if someone had been, she would have gotten charges and wouldn't have been let go.
The second one was with the female officer, which had a breakdown over something like this, God help her when something really happens!! In typical fashion, here is another female cop that has no business doing this job!! Of course, once she is in the job, she is now protected, sad!!
Her age and behavior helped her with that, on the other hand, incidents with owi and other things attached. Even if they were arrested and taken to jail, we all seemed to know what will happen, with the focus from district attorneys which is to fill out the paperwork and release them, and this really applies for certainly those that are not white, across the country especially in our larger cities, it's anyone and everyone just cut them loose is the directive!! The audacity of that first girl to say, "The cops were like in the middle of the road," totally leaves out the part that, even if the cops weren't "in the middle of the road" she was driving into head-on traffic through an intersection! If a person was waiting to make a left-hand turn there, by her logic, they would have been "in the middle of the road" too. You are the one in the middle of the road! Imagine admitting to drinking after crossing through an intersection and hitting an occupied cop car head on, refusing the breathalyzer and then just going home with mom...? The second video was rather wholesome. The partner in the passenger seat was doing soooo well at keeping her calm and then he was so concerned about her, keeping his cool and just wanting her checked out. What a horrible first car accident to be in!!

I just double checked the laws. Yes cops don't change the law. Whether they hit and injured or killed a cop or another regular civilian human being if it is "just" an accident without drugs, alcohol, official "Reckless Driving" by the rules of things like excessive speeding way over the speed limit, obvious disregard for human life or property, or something like texting while driving in a place that's illegal, anything that they can point to that might increase the charge to a felony, the default is to treat it as a misdemeanor level crime which can still carry some jail time and is still pretty bad but not nearly as bad as being charged with a felony. Driving is difficult and dangerous and to go that fast straight into T-Boning another car is dangerous for you too so most people aren't maliciously trying to murder when they do it. So we treat it somewhat less bad than the people who are committing more clearcut violence. It's a complex thing.

@@attack125my guy, they were t-boned on the driver side, and she was the driver. They were both hospitalized for their injuries. She was obviously having a panic attack, in addition to whatever injuries she sustained. Her door was likely inoperable from the impact, and the male officer’s door was face down on the ground. Did you see the damage to their squad car? Yes, officers should ideally be able to respond rationally to incidents like this, but they were the victims in this incident first and foremost. They’re not robots, they’re people-it would be less rational if they were completely stonefaced the entire time.

@@attack125 No matter how much training you go through, if this is her first time in a car accident or something like this then her body hasn't figured out how to cope yet. It's like how there are lots of officers that throw up or feel dizzy when they first see a dead body. It doesn't mean that they shouldn't be cops, it just means that they are not accustomed to seeing dead bodies. The body naturally goes through shock after a traumatic event. It shuts down the part of the brain that makes rational decisions. And it takes a lot of practice to learn to move past it. No rookie training can teach you more than the actual experience can. I think the only thing this video shows is that one cop has more experience with these sort of situations than the other.
Oh man, that is so nice to see. The Good Bad Ass Dog had a full vest on. You can tell which police dept. cares about their dog or not. If they care about their dog, they will have a full vest for the dog. I can't stand seeing them sending in the dog into very dangerous situations with nothing to protect the dog.

With that first one, as someone who works in law enforcement, she is a young adult. 1, going to jail for here would only be for 8 hours until she is sober, 2, she is very shaken up scared and she is cooperating completely, aside from the breathalyzer refusal. Turning her over to her mother is actual good policing. She clearly understood her mistake of drinking and driving, she received the proper citations, and will have to go to court. She will get license suspension, IID in her vehicle, and some hefty fines as well as her insurance dropping her. There is enough punishment there alone that 8hrs in jail is pointless.

This channel should do better. Saying "just got a citation" is such an understatement. A criminal citation differs very much from a civil citation. She'll still face all the same consequences as if she had gone to jail, she just didn't go that night. That's not to say that she won't ever go for it after her trial. She was technically still "arrested".
I'm pretty sure channels like this intentionally say things that are wrong to get more comments, it used to work really well but people are catching on.
