Okay, so there are several different types of British accents that correspond with/depend on the region the person is from, and their social class. I don’t know a whole lot about which accents are from which region and the names and all that stuff, but I know there is a proper accent where the T’s are kept in the pronunciation of most words and phrases, but the most common accent people think of is what’s called a cockney accent. The cockney accent is mainly used by lower-class citizens and that is the main accent where a person drops the T’s; the phrase “bottle of water” for example. Also, cockneys use a LOT of slang. There is also an accent called an Edinburg, which I don’t know how that one sounds (the accent was mentioned in a book I was reading one time) so yeah. I basically wrote this short essay thingy to show you guys that C O C K N E Y A C C E N T D O E S N ‘ T = B R I T I S H .
