This drill contains everything that has to do with TLT (Tip, Length and Tempo)
These 3 variables determine the direction of the cue ball after contact with the object ball and how direct it is going into that direction.
If you are somewhat serious in pool, this is a drill that you have to be able to do.
More length in your follow-through = more immediate action of the cue ball with a lower amount of speed (Tempo). If you put too much speed (tempo) in to the cue ball, you're not giving the cue ball the time to get grip on the table and therefor reaction time will be much slower. You'll see that the tangent line is being followed much longer (delayed reaction)
So it's always better to use more length (follow-through) and less speed.
Speed is only required if you have to travel long distances on the table and most of the time that is not the case.
Vary the tip position from +2 (tips) al the way down to -2 (tips) on the cue ball to go from all the way forward to all the way back.
You don't need much of an angle (15°-30°) to get to anywhere on the table
