Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Instead of trying to predict and prognosticate the stability of the market and precisely when the change is going to happen, a better strategy is simply having a portfolio that’s well prepared for any eventually, that’s how some folks' been averaging 150K every 7week these past 4months according to Bloomberg.

You have a very valid point, I started investing on my own and for a long time, the market was really ripping me off. I decided to hire a CFA, even though I was skeptical at first, and I beat the market by more than 9%. I thought it was a fluke until it happened two years in a row, and so I’ve been sticking to investing via an analyst.

The mainstream advice on making money is overrated. The best thing you can do is invest in your own knowledge. Books are the ultimate learning tool. For instance, The Hidden Truths Of Wealth by Oliver Mercer gave me the foundation to start my first business and separate myself from 90% of people.

It’s not rocket science. I got into the stock market and started investing in some stocks without fully understanding how it works. Long story short, I lost it all. Jonas Herman, a licensed fiduciary is the brain behind my success. I've gotten into a plethora of assets with $10k spread across stocks (options and futures) for the short term and Roth IRA, index funds, and ETFs, for the long term. It’s true that experience is very important and very valuable. However, on the job you are expected to produce (obviously); therefore, you cannot gain experience on a diverse set of topics at will. School is the place to gain exposure to a diverse set of topics (that you cannot on the job). After school you get a job and gain in depth experience on various topics. In my experience, you can gain in depth on the job experience on one topic every four or five years. Whereas at school you get exposure to five topics in one semester. You need both - preparation for the work place at school and on the job training and experience. Naturally, that’s the traditional path for most people. Very few people get ahead at a serious workplace without a diploma. And there are many good jobs you cannot do without a “paper” - law, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, etc. At work, I can see that people without a diploma have something missing that limits them. Same in the military. In engineering companies technicians are jealous of engineers, and, in the military, NCOs are jealous of officers. There are jobs where diploma means nothing - real estate agents, car salesmen, etc. Go for one of those if you don’t want to get a “paper.”

Yes, I’m soooo grateful that I obtained my MBA, as my undergraduate was Biology and pre-med. I knew nothing about business upon graduating from college. Now I speak multiple languages, have traversed business areas that I didn’t even know existed, whilst making friends for life and extensive connections and colleagues that I have and use to this day. I don’t think I could have cultivated this type of lifestyle online--and I’ve lived in several countries across the globe and work remotely. I’ve gained loads of life knowledge and confidence with heaps of creativity and critical thinking. My MBA, albeit six figure price abroad, is worth its weight in gold, to catapult me into real world scenarios that keep me in life long learning. 🎉👍

I got my MBA at a university that was primarily a medical school. I was working in marketing at the University at the time, and they paid for most of my MBA. But the MBA program was very important to the University because it provided an easy way to educate scientist and doctors about business, because universities and hospitals are businesses.

He inspired me to write my first book - The 10 Second MBA: "Get orders, fill them at a profit, collect the money (in any order), above your true break-even point, without running out of cash." That's every business model in a 10 second framework. Memorize that and then read Josh's book for more details.

I lived with someone who started their own business, plus a family member and their spouse started their own business. You need to commit yourself to working 7 days a week putting in long hours, at least in the beginning. And if the business grows to where you need to hire employees, there is payroll and taxes and insurance. The woman I worked for sold the company to someone else because she was losing money. The new owner did much better because she had more experience. Get very, very educated in every aspect of business ownership before taking the plunge. Go in confident with what you know.

I think getting a degree can be anything from "epic" to "catastrophic waste" and it just depends on the circumstances. If you live somewhere where degrees are expensive and you choose something that brings back little value, it is a waste. But in my case I think it was one of the best things I did: I live in Switzerland, so getting a degree is essentially free (the exams are just really brutal and you have two attempts each and if you fail twice you are locked out and cant ever study that profession again), the tuition is so cheap you can pay it as a small fraction of your part-time job. So I got a BSc and MSc in engineering. Then I did a PhD, which was a 100% paid position, so I was getting an advanced degree while earning between 80 and 90k a year on top during that time, I just had a lot of teaching duties to go with it. All of these degrees came from a Top 10 world-ranked uni, and I can definitely say it opened some great doors later on. But yeah if you take a study loan to get a degree in art history or something in the USA it might not be worth it money-wise...

Unfortunately in my country jobs are so scarce & more contingent on who you know than what you know. It is very possible to educate yourself out of the job market. You get overqualified & nobody wants to hire you cause they do not want to pay or you have a double Masters & your supervisor/boss barely finished high school so they feel threatened by you. Also studying is very expensive.

As someone in the process of getting my MBA, what I would say to everyone stating experience is better... well duh in a perfect world you'd go for experience. But businesses today aren't hiring anyone with no experience, even "Entry-Level" positions state they prefer 1-3yrs experience in a similar role. So if you're stuck in the matrix of not being able to get an opportunity then a higher level degree is a great way to stand out as even having a Bachelors doesn't do much for you anymore.

I am a high rank director for a large corporation and earn more money than people would believe. It’s all about getting your foot in the door, but you’ll need an MBA to make it to my level, everyone on the executive leadership team has one. I tried to advance without it but kept getting picked over by someone that has it. Corporate America is still largely credential/qualification based so not sure what alternatives to college there are for that.

I think we may be in a period where the value of university education is becoming less relevant. The rise of mollycoddling students through their degrees so they don't quit (and lose the uni money) and the proliferation of AI (which students are using to complete their assignments) could well be producing graduates who indeed just have 'a piece of paper' but no critical skills that said piece of paper is meant to represent. Prior to the aforementioned, students HAD to brute force learn to not FAIL: this trial by fire period of highly pressured self-education does result in individuals that have a greater capacity for learning (and sticking with) difficult things, who then comparatively out do those who do not have that capacity. For me, I now work in software development (NOTHING to do with my degrees), but my degrees gave me the pressurised environment to learn HOW to learn and stick with difficult things. All in all, I believe the point of uni is -- or at least used to be -- to learn how to learn effectively, not to learn for specific careers (unless you're doing something vocational). Of course there are many more variables to success.

By the way, I have his book, and I bought it while I was doing my MBA study because I was curious. It is a nice read, however, it is nowhere near to how I experienced my MBA study. It wasn't just about learning about the topics as described in the book. It was much more about the very diverse group of people I had to spend 2 years of my life with, some of whom became friends for life. No book can replace that. That said, I understand that there is a big difference between business schools and their lecture programs.
