The Monkees will ALWAYS be my first favorite rock band , then and now forever . It sure hit me when my daughter Kaleigh Hanson called me and said Davy died in Florida . Next my favorite of the four Mike Nesmith . My really good friend of 92.3 WCOL Woody JOHNSON texted me as soon as he got word knowing that I LOVE this band that Mike died . And now that Peter is gone it's hard to believe we still have Mickey . God be with each one of them . Before I claim my love for Styx , REO Speedwagon or any other band , the Monkees will ALWAYS be #1 to me !!!!
To my each and every one of the Monkees , let's keep hearing the song What am I doing hanging round . One of my all time favorites but now may that train take you to heaven to entertain God himself
Life seemed simpler, better then. This is one of the very first songs I can remember hearing as a child-I was 5 when it was released. I love everything about this song. I hope it's the last song I hear when I leave this world...
@@grandmalovesmebest I sing okay and it eases my stress. Sing by the Carpenter's says don't worry if you're not good enough for anyone else to hear just sing sing a song!
I love The Monkees. Seen them live at the Jackson Coliseum in Jackson Mississippi July 1968. They were great. Still#1. Though there are only the 2 left. All 4 are still together in their music. God bless you Mickey and Mike always. Please, stay safe. I love love you guys.
I began with the Monkees in the mid-60's and was honoured to meet Davy on their 35th anniversary tour. He is a kind, gentle and talented man. I'll love you forever, Davy! ¬ Janet
Davy just wanted to sing, dance, act and entertain the World 🌎! And also of course there was his love for his children, grandchildren and horses 🐎! Love ❤ and miss him! Peter too!
The Monkees lo mejor. Los conocí a los 8 años por su programa de TV. Lamento la partida de Davy y Peter. Los recordaremos siempre. Saludos desde Chile, 2020.
God, I miss Davy. It's been 7 years since he passed and i think of him all the time. I still haven't got over him or Peter Passing. I think of Peter a bunch too.
Went and seen the 3 of them at the fox theater in Detroit, in 2011 around 8 months before Davey Jones passed away. And it was one of the best shows I ever went 2. I seen zztop, jackal, slaughter, bob seger, Johnny cash, black oak Arkansas, Aerosmith just too name a few and in order to appreciate what they did at the fox, you'll have to goggle it. Especially when Mickey hand the mic over too a woman in the audience, while singing going down..
Watching these tours is almost like watching old home movies. First the Monkyees when they first aired in the sixties, then the reruns and then watching tours through out the years. In 1968 I was 13 and there were six kids still at home and I was home alone one day and watching the Monkee series when my older married sister came in the house and said you shouldn't be watching that garbage! She unplugged the TV and I grabbed the broom and went after her! She started running up the open stair way and I was behind her hitting every step with the broom handle! No one came between me and my watching the Monkees! She never tried anything like that again! I will always love you guys, your music and I still love watching the Monkees and the tours on my computer! See you in heaven some day Davy.
The monkeys wrote so famn good back in the sixties I was just a littie girl but I watch them in seventies and I feel in love with them exspecially Davy Jones he was so damn cute and happy when he sung daydream beliver i was shock to learn of his death and Peter Tork always wonder what happy Michael Nesmeth did he leave he monkeys or did he just did not want to perform with him anymore but may both Davy Jones and Peter Tork rest in peace and may the lord be with him and Peter i sure do miss him I guess Mickey Dolenz is the only one who sings the monkey songs
It wasn't the same then not to have Mike performing with the guys on here, would have been great to have had all 4 Monkees on Nashville Now back in 1989
The Monkeys turned this into a legendary song. But let's give the credit to the late Mr. John Stewart. I think Anne Murray did it as well and it was extremely popular first. But I may be wrong. But let's not forget about the one who wrote this song.
+Wilcey Whatweekindo The Monkees were the original recorders of this song in 1967, Anne Murray did so in 1979. I personally do not like Murray's version, but to each their own.
I just looked up Jerry Whitehurst on IMDB, and it says he died in 2015, didn't know he had passed away, wonder what other members of The Nashville Now band are still alive now in 2019?
It's a shame that Mike couldn't be a part of this reunion with his fellow musicians, it would have been cool if he could have been there, and possibly sporting his wool hat
Daniel Trickey Yep. I was a fan until he went kind of grandiose in the 70s. “Solitary Man,” “Girl, You’ll be a Woman Soon,” “Cherry Cherry.” Great songs.
I wonder how many members of The Nashville Now band are still living today in 2019, I know Jerry Whitehurst is still living, wonder about the other members of the band?
