Nicely done, that was one of a kind versus race. 😮Weezing had surprised me the most with it's raw damage output alone. It is definitely a force to be recon with. But Arbok was not so far behind with warp and mimic. Muk is getting better I guess in gen 2, or so I hope.. I betting on muk basically because of its stats alone,and because of acid armour.😊 But I guess that's why these kind of videos are always fun to watch. Thanks for the Halloween treat.😊

Arbok is one of my favorite Pokemon and honestly I think it did really good. For a Poison type with no boosting move it still has a ton of game honestly. Really awesome video.

It's a shame that there isn't really a moveslot available for Mega Drain on Arbok vs Giovanni, maybe the Rhydon wouldn't have been so dangerous if it could've fit in. Great runs though, super interesting to see Weezing do things compared to its prevo!

So the sludgy Pokémon Muk starts with poison gas and the poison gaseous Pokémon Weezing starts with Sludge. Got it.

I remember running through pokemon yellow with a Muk on my team as a kid.. It will forever be one of my favorites, it may have made the game a lot harder but the cuteness of Muk made it all worth it ❤

The graphs have been a nice touch to help visualize how the pokemon do in different sections of the game. Great addition to the channel.

I find it a bit weird and annoying how the Sludge Pokémon made entirely of sludge doesn't get Sludge as one of its starting moves but gets Poison Gas while the Poison Gas Pokémon doesn't get Poison Gas at all but has Sludge has one of its starting moves...

The battle we didn't know we wanted, and now that it's out, we NEED it! Great vid, Scott.

Two observations, mainly with Arbok - don't think it'll change the time much but might add to the consistency: 1. When you've wittled down their health with wrap, you don't need the damage output from rock slide. Use earthquake to guarantee the KO instead of risking a 10% miss. I've noticed you do it a lot with other play through as well using a non 100% move when you have a 100% move that is strong enough to knock them out. 2. This is less important and might not actually be useful, but I noticed you stopped using mega drain on the second playthrough. Obviously it wasn't necessary in the end but you could increase the consistency even in a couple battles like Giovanni's Rhydon or Lorelei as an example. Not sure if holding onto earthquake to give yourself a move slot is worth it for that long but figured I'd throw that in there. Otherwise, the optimisations are getting very good. Over time you might find something better but fantastic job with what you have so far! Crazy video, great effort. For all our sakes, please keep looking after yourself, that one must have been exhausting!

Ohhhh, SHI*! I've been looking forward to this one. The poison types are my favorite gen 1 pokemon (even the ones with dual typing)! I reallllly hope weezing wins this one for me! It'll be a Halloween miracle 🎃 idk who will take it though. Muk won't get minimize, so that'll almost completely negate what it does. Acid armor could put it in a league of its own, though. I think arbok may be too frail to do super amazing unless it learns agility or something. Idk. Let's see weezing take it home!!!

Weezing's TM moveset in later gens is so much better. Shadow ball and flamethrower to go with thunderbolt and sludge bomb is an amazing set. Tanky attackers are my favorite, and Weezing is my number 1 Pokémon. Gl, my beautiful poison tumor.

Well that was a wild ride. Arbok’s wrap shenanigans gives me hope that tentacruel will still have a decent Brock split in spite of not starting with a water move. After binging all the back port streams, I’ve been thinking what Pokémon would theoretically be the fastest through gen 1 of all non-legendary Pokémon introduced to date and realized that tentacruel is maybe the biggest winner of the unified special stat, and it’s a medium slow growth rate but it had a somewhat sub par learn set and typing since it doesn’t really use its poison moves. A back port of toedscruel might be incredibly broken though, no mycelium might, tentacruel’s gen 1 stats, growth and spore is a wild combination. It really just depends what ground move you give it and if it gets tentacruel’s non stab tm moves, because it gets swords dance. It could potentially be a mash up of everything great about tentacruel, victribel and parasect.

Something you can do to help with menuing is moving your commonly used items (Repels & Potions) to the top of your bag with select, so you don't have to scroll thru to find where they've ended up. It looks like you already do that for the bike, but doing it for potions and repels will save a little bit of time in the long run as well.

You've done 23 poison types. There are still 10 left in gen 1 which include the beedrill line so weedle, kakuna, and beedrill that's 3, venomoth, nidoran male and female, nidorino, nidorina, weepinbell, and tentacruel. Honestly weedle and kakuna are going to be brutal weedle since you won't be evolving it will be stuck with poison sting and string shot for the entire run, for kakuna since you would be starting with it through the universal pokemon randomizer it will only know harden so your going to have to use up all its pp and then use struggle which is going to do almost nothing since Kaunas stats are so god awful, beedrill at least gets swords dance and agility for badge boost later in the run it doesn't learn a new move until level 20 when it learns twin needle focus energy is useless while it does learn it I don't count it for obvious reasons, and of course pin missile which has 85% accuracy, in terms of tms maybe mimic, mega drain, swift, and rest get some use, but its stats aren't anything to be excited about honestly. Weepinbell its defenses and speed are bad but it has a respectable base 90 attack and servicable 85 special, of course you got wrap which is absolutely busted in the early game, razor leaf for stab, swords dance to set up badge boost, and of course rest for the later part of the game. Tentacruel honestly one of the coolest looking pokemon its debut in the anime really showcased how territorial and menacing it can be, in gen 1 it has a base special of 120, tied for having the 5th highest special stat in gen 1 along with magneton and kadabra, it's base 100 speed means it is going to land a critical hit nearly 20% of the time, by the end you're going to want ice beam or blizzard, surf, swords dance or barrier for badge boost, and wrap as its going to outspeed everything once it gets a badge boost set up. Nidoran male and female, their stats are awful but they do get blizzard, thunderbolt, body slam, and then mimic to copy any badge boosting moves such as amnesia from Loreleis slowbro since it isn't capable of learning them otherwise. Nidorina and Nidorino stats still aren't great but you could work with a seat of thunderbolt, body slam, ice beam or blizzard and then mimic to copy badge boosting moves. I could see tentacruel and weepinbell having the best runs out of the group, from there it gradually gets worse maybe venomoth or beedrill surprises us, but as for the rest of the nidoran line as well as weedle and kakuna not looking good for them. Looking forward to seeing how these runs play out.

As a huge fan of Arbok (and poison types in general), I'm 100% happy at Arbok's ranking here. Eventually, when/if you replay others now with more experience and they get better results, I'm sure it'll push Arbok down. But at the moment, I'm going to enjoy it's moment at the top.

I nailed the order! I even thought that Arbok and Weezing would be close and that Muk definitely wouldn't win. But brags aside, wow, the increase in quality over the years has just been astounding. I really wish that you would get 100k subs already. No challenge run channel deserves it more. Literal days and days (weeks, maybe, at this point?) of top quality content.

Loved this video. I haven’t commented before, but I’ve been a long time fan. Thank you for what you do!!

Before watching: This one is really tricky! They have all things going for them. Arbok is the fastest and with the Ground-moves it can learn it has decent coverage from its stronger physical attack. Plus Wrap to start, making Brock more doable. And Mega Drain for more coverage. But the stats are not that great. Weezing can get decent special moves from a solid special stat. And Muk is just really strong, with similar special coverage but from a worse special stat. My guess is Arbok will do best in the beginning because it has wrap and learns Bite. Maybe Weezing will benefit from an early Sludge but probably trickier to make that work consistently. And Muk‘s moveset sucks and it will struggle for a long while. Towards the end it might catch up, but it will take too long. My guess is: Arbok first, because of high speed and wrap which will help against the fast psychics. Then Weezing because it starts with Sludge which is decent and gets ok coverage later. And Muk will be frustrating and last. After watching: Well, I forgot a lot of things. E.g. that Sabrina is stupid and therefore there is no need for Arboks speed to defeat it easily. Or how fast Muk gets Bodyslam and therefore can use their high attack stat. But I especially forgot the benefits of Set-up moves… which obviously is a benefit Muk has that the other two don‘t. Which is why I find it funny that my intuition still ended up being correct with my ranking. Good for Arbok, doesn‘t have a great reputation, even though I think it‘s really cool.
