The Montreal Canadiens are in Danger: Here's Why 

I watched last night’s game and didn’t much like the outcome. I see it as a 3-1 loss on goals that were redirected or deflected off a player. Mistakes that could have cost us the game didn’t. Marty may be a little stubborn about having an empty net on the power play and also about playing the style he wants played without the requisite forechecking ability in place. I won’t place any blame on individual players, I think they’re trying to play “what the game gives them “ and forgetting about the simple play and the forechecking. I believe we have a very good collections of players all trying to learn “the game” at the same time and more prospects to come. As long as we improve throughout the year, I’m good.

What are your thoughts on the Habs through five games?

As a Leaf fan, probably better than any other non-Montreal fan base, really understand the pressure and expectations that is put on a team. Just look at last year's finalists D-cores. They both have just a single defenseman on their roster born in the 2000's. Montreal has six. Unless these guys are all Top-10 draft picks, just relax. For a blueline, they're just a bunch of toddlers on the NHL scene. Know it's hard to swallow, but just give it time. Nobody else is expecting Montreal to be that good today, but there's very little danger they won't develop into something down the road while other team's aging line-ups start to fall apart. The reality for most teams is someone like Martin St. Louis will have given the team all he can and have worn out his welcome before a team as young as Montreal becomes competitive.

A cook Montreal defense is poor because most of the guys are trying to block shots instead of being aggressive and knocking the puck off sticks. That’s because they have Art as their leader. The worst defenseman in the NHL can’t move slow and lays on the ice like a goddamn Zamboni. Till we get rid of Savard, Armia, Dvorak, Anderson, and Gallagher and maybe even Marty St. Louis, we are going to be picking top five for years to come
