We were blessed by having the very best years; don’t you think? I say that not because it is what I know, but because moral, manners, values& civility mold and make everything better. I so despise how “we” have allowed everything “trash” everything. We are nearly at the end , so hallelujah! Precious movie……yet even it was a tiny step by gradually making g it funny then fine for unmarrieds to live together.
Charles Coburn was such a great actor. His distinctive beautiful voice, the twinkle in his eye, his warmth and old world charm, made him one of the great character actors of the 20th century.
My mother grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota and Charles Coburn was in her class. His family was so poor he came to school without shoes on even in the winter, she said. How he changed his life with ability and hard work!
This has been my favorite movie for many years, but I try to watch it no more than every 1 to 2 years so I never tire of it. Some day I hope to be able to see it on a big screen rather than my phone. Since reading Joel McCrea's Wikipedia biography I was so impressed.
There’s a remake with Cary Grant in the role of the old man and Jim Hutton as the young one. It’s set in Japan during the Olympics and is called Walk Don’t Run. Also delightful! I recommend you check it out.
Me pareció muy simple, yo tenía solo 10 años. Siendo gran admiradora de Cary Grant no la he vuelto a ver, la buscaré. Creo q la chica es Samantha Eggar.
I loved this movie! You can't go wrong with Jean Arthur and Joel McCrea, two of my favorites! And Charles Coburn is top notch! All's well that ends well! Thank you DK, you sre the best!
Watch the Cary Grant/Jim Hutton remake of rhis movie, set in japan during the Japan Olympics. It's not near as good as this original, so don't expect anything close, but with Cary Grant and Jim Hutton, they were able to make you smile a couple of times lol
I absolutely love this movie. Have seen it more times than I can count. Love Jean Arthur. Anything with Charles Coburn is great. Joel Macra was a handsome guy. Great movie 😊
I have lived in Washington DC area a long time and also worked in several Department Stores so this movie is a favorite of mine Where is a man like Joel McCrea for me.
I laughed all the way thru unlike any other classic I can remember! An absolute gem. Thank you for sharing it! This is a keeper! Might need yo watch it once a year!
All the actors sre perfect in their roles with comedic timing done to a T. A classic rating a solid 10. I've watched it 8 times and will eventually watch it again.
Thanks DK for another wonderful film! Hard to believe that Charles Coburn was 76 when he made this film - he looks and moves like someone much younger (and this was 1941). He deservedly won the Oscar. The chemistry between Jean Arthur - a brilliant comedienne - and Joel McCrae was remarkable.
Good for you, out of all of Hitchcock's movies, that is my least favourite. Strangers On A Train and Rear Window I can watch and rewatch over and over. Even my daughter loves Rear Window.@@greekveteran2715
Makes me cry. Beautiful people, beautiful clothes, beautiful dances, beautiful apartments. Nothing exists anymore. All gone for the sake of political corectness.
"Walk, Don't Run" has to be a kind of remake of this movie. I LOVE them Both!!! "Walk, Don't Run" is also free on RU-vid and stars Cary Grant as the matchmaker to Timothy Hutton and the Beautiful young lady. I am gonna watch it next %D
He said "full steam ahead" at 11:00 instead of "full speed". Again at 1:02:35 her boyfriend misquoted it again. I guess it took a lot to force a retake in this period.
