I doubt the ability of any CJN to detach from the executive led by the President who appointed him or her. For there to be true independence of the judiciary, the CJN must be recommended by the NJC to the Senate directly. After the candidate's senate screening and approval for the substantive position, he/she can then report to the president for official recognition and someone serving under the adminstration. But, in a situation where the president has direct influence on who becomes the Chief Justice of Nigeria, the candidate may want to return the favour by kowtowing to the president's whims and caprices in order not to appear ungrateful and disloyal to an appointive authority. Politicians have damaged the reputation and image of the judiciary (especially judges) beyond repairs. I doubt if Kekere-Ekun's tenure will see much change and correction to the endemic corruption and anomalies that have bedevilled our judiciary.
She vow zero tolerance in the judiciary, Madam CJN we have seen more of such vows from your predecessors without anything to show for it, your vow will not be different, you are just talking to the camera men in that hall, not reasonable Nigerians.
