@@chibi_jojo9000 He'll be back anyway so I don't see as that much of a big deal, besides if Goro would have killed Cole right there then he wouldn't be able to summon Scorpion later in the film for that Sub-Zero battle, which if I recall correctly is what most people praise with this damn film, plus it's clear that this film is trying to be faithful to the games, while at the same time trying to be it's own thing, this has been done in cinema since the MCU started and just like that universe, they can always improve on characters in other installments later down the line, which is why it's best to support to this film because things can get better for both the likers and haters of this film

95 Goro was animatronic not CG they actually built that version and gave him more character

Character Development, Solid Storytelling & Potentiality of making Fictional Universe. When I even saw the trailers for the 2021 Mortal Kombat film, I had my doubts and sure enough, said doubts proved true.

The soundtrack in MK '21 is garbage. They went for a superhero movie feel and it's feels so out of place and terrible...don't get me started on how much of a snooze Cole Young is

If I had to pick between them keeping the same actor for Raiden or the "squeeler" as Shang Tsung, give me Raiden. I could not into Shang Tsung for ONE SECOND. Literally not 1 second was he a believable Raiden. They should have cast Ken Watanabe as Shang, EASILY. No brainer.

@@GeneralAsda18 its a cool concept but poorly executed. The arcana felt real for the first part of the movie. The way the fighters needed to dig deep into what drives them to achieve their power was an awesome concept. The way Jax and Sonya recieved their powers just ruined it though.

@@GeneralAsda18 well i probably would've had Jax and Sonyas powers\equipment come from the special forces. Kanos cybernetic gear comes from his connections through the black dragon. Liu Kang and Kung Lao trained at the academy for their powers. An hour of the movie revolved around the Arcana and training and then we got a quick montage of combat towards the end. It was so rushed that Milena didn't even get a proper fight with sonya which could've been epic. Instead it was all rushed because there was too much arcana and not enough banana.

Scorpion killed him because he thought that he killed the Shirai ryu but that was Quan Chi in disquise, Bi-han dies and Quan Chi corrupts him and makes him Noob Saibot.

Kano was the reason I kept going but my god the scenes where he didn’t appear in were so boring and lifeless.

@@Kickinthescience Of course the original Mortal Kombat game had fatalities. Each character had one unique fatality and then there was the pit fatality into the spikes. To the OP, the characters do use their moves from MK 1/2. Cage uses his shadow kick and friendship, Liu Kang uses his bicycle kick and his fireball, and Sonya uses her legs throw on Kano (sort of, lol). Also, Resident Evil is way worse because not only does it not follow the plot/setting of the game, but it has none of the characters from it (later ones do, but they're not important compared to Milla's character, Alice).

You're argument contradicts itself. If not being faithful to the game is a big factor of how you gauge your enjoyment of the movies then you should have this new movie rated much lower. If seeing the game move sets and fighting styles being played out faithfully by the actors in the movie is the only thing you care about, then you're right this new one is better, but it's also much more comparable to the RE movies as a video game adaption than the original, as it doesn't stay very faithful at all to the games plot.

It's not like Johhny Cage beating him with a punch to the balls is any better but at least it was funny

And he was hilarious. Now hes gone. Now jonny Cages character will get the shine he deserves. Another thing if you paid attention. They had to be chosen warriors and a few died so those symbols moves to other warriors who are better. Jonny cage is one of the hardest characters to beat in the old school games and it makes sense to show him off in the actual tournament.

And they didnt race swap raiden wtf...hes A God that Chinese monks worship...did you not pay attention to anything or play any of the games. It makes more sense to make him Chinese or other Asian types.

Kano didn't need to be a steal the scene or comedic releif character or even need to be involved with the good guys at all but for some reason they made him follow along with the good guys at the start then betray them? Kano might be a smart ass but he's always been pretty viscious and serious, not the funny "give me an egg roll" guy, and as an Aussie myself, his swearing was way over the top, yet he was still the best part of the movie. Coles character was pretty much completely useless and Johhny could have easily taken his spot as the guy who needs everything explained to him which serves as exposition for the audience. Also someone correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I recall there was not one bit of dialogue in the movie that suggests the dragon marks just "move on" to someone else once a marked person dies, it only explains that if someone without the mark defeats someone with it they'll inherit that mark.

Well, you'll have to admit that it's very difficult to try and write about 12 different fighters in a one short movie to make sense out of everything. If they do it Marvel-style (imagine Sub-Zero their own solo starring movie and expand the story bit wider to more fighters in the future films), then the story will probably make more sense. But you know how business works: budget.
