Join TrailNewbie, Rhino Offroad and FlyFisher530 for the third part of our EPIC 3 day trip to Leavitt Lake, Masonic Mining Town and Kavanaugh Ridge. We encounter rain, wind, hail, and some of the most insane views reachable by a Jeep. Some things go wrong, many things go right - this, was a trip of a lifetime. We explore an active mine, see the most amazing sunset and depart Masonic for the final leg of our trip up to Kavanaugh Ridge. This is the best campsite in all of California in my opinion; looking down over the Hoover Wilderness and lakes, lakes and more lakes! (Episode 23 - 10/12/22)

Awesome video. I have been watching overlanding channels for a while now and the Sierras are one of my favorite places on earth, but this video really hit home. You inspired me to stop just watching videos and start my own journey of overlanding. I bought a Wrangler JL Rubicon this weekend and will be out exploring the trails soon. One of my first destinations will have to be Kavanaugh Ridge.

A very beautiful trail! Is this trail doable with an offroad trailer? We have a patriot
@TrailNewbie
@TrailNewbie Год назад
Yes, this would absolutely be doable with a Patriot. The trail itself is not overly difficult, just steep climb over a distance. Rocky, but not boulders. You’ll love the trail, and there is TONS of space at the top to camp. 🏕️ 😃

I hear a lot about 395. Seems there’s plenty to see along it. Question: I’ve been seeing videos where part of the title is hidden behind mountains, trees, etc. Is it part of the editing software? Which one? I could use that here and there. I’m on LumaFusion right now.
@TrailNewbie
@TrailNewbie Год назад
Hi! Thank you for reaching out. I actually create all of my thumbnails with an app on my phone called SketchClub. It is like Photoshop but very basic. It allows you to create layers to overlay, etc. So, what I do is: 1) select the picture 2) overlay the words and 3) strategically erase parts of the words that I want to appear behind a mountain, tree, any object. It’s fairly easy to do. All of my video editing is done on my phone too, using iMovie. Hope this helps! Reach out anytime! 😀😀

Is 4x4 required to get up there? My friend have a Subaru cross trek stock, 4Runner stock 2wd with beefy tires, I have a 3rd gen stock Tacoma 4x4. Thanks Awesome video I’ll definitely follow you.👍🏽
@TrailNewbie
@TrailNewbie Год назад
It’s hard to say with complete confidence on my end. The 4Runner and Tacoma should be fine/ok. It’s not a trail that overly requires 4WD, as long as all the snow is melted and you don’t run into mud/wet weather. The Cross Trek, I’m not overly familiar with. I can picture it, but I’m not sure that the clearance would be solid. I would recommend that if the cross trek is going to go all the way to the top, that you guys just be extra cautious. There would be plenty of places even 3/4 of the way up where the cross track could get to, I’m just trying to remember some of the higher elevation parts. I do know that the cross trek would have a hard time getting to the exact spot where we parked our jeeps, but there is a lot of open space at the top where the cross trek could park and camp. So, long winded way of saying I can’t completely recommend it but if you have skilled drivers and know the limits of your vehicles, it is something you could certainly attempt. Just be discerning.
