When I heard your introduction, my first thought was can’t be more amazing than Dan’s story. So when I saw it was his story, I laughed deeply. Amazing story, incredible story, lucky pilot.

Dan Bass is one of my favorite Mooney pilots! He has been spreading the word about CO poisoning, and how to avoid it, for years now. We have learned how quick it can happen, and how long it takes to expel any CO that gets inhaled… We have also learned that our O2 monitors continue to read normally as they don’t detect the CO as a bad problem. Just got a handheld radio, adding a CO detector. PLB is next but I'm always on flight following or IFR so rough location shouldn't be a problem.

Excellent throwback podcast Dan. Dan's story is amazing. It was great to hear it again with both videos put together. I wonder if you could have some way to send a message to ATC via the transponder. Then ATC could know you are in trouble and help you. Like he said, if the had told him to land, he would have.

Was in a autio crash in 2005 stuff does get moved around. You said you now keep things in your pockets. In my experience even my ink pen tore out my pocket, keys tore through my jens. Bolt it down with in reach.
