Indeed. I adopted a 1.5 year old from shelter. She was a handful, immediately: Mouthy. Needy. Powerfully energetic. Protective as a wild lioness. I mean just a fabulously beautiful creature. I knew she was all that; that’s why I adopted her and she’s my girl!! 👊🏽💕
I love the fact that the military gives them the equipment needed like soldiers to combat enemies That just looks awesome on them Most importantly, they are respected as a soldier God bless and thank you for all who have served to give me my freedom
Mines was laid back. I could go to work & come home to her waiting in the living room window. She never messed up my home. & very loyal too. I’m getting another one. The best dog ever.
Mine’s the same, but she’s half mal and half gsd working line,it’s a Malinois X as they call it and it’s pretty calm, but that’s because i always make her run after the ball 3 times a day,so at home if i am leaving her alone she sleeps or just plays with her toys all alone…but i gotta say,..the protection this dog offers is off the charts, she was protecting me while she was just 2 months old,it’s just crazy…my baby girl, impossible not to love her.
I have a 4 month old male pup and he’s the same way…he’s calm and playful when it’s time to take him outside…but he behaves in my home…great protector and great family dog and small pets too. ❤
@@eugenecarter7294 I like the Mal/ GSD myself. I had a park/ basketball field that I would take her to before & after work. I’d let her off the leash & she was off running. She’d always come back. I miss that girl. When my Dad passed. I was a mess. She would always comfort me.
@user-ov7by5sw7y maybe read his comment correctly before opening your mouth and inserting your foot!! Try pressing the microphone on your phone and asking Google what a rescue dog is
I used to design puzzles with locks and latches for mine. My Mal could figure them out faster than my high school students. Crazy smart, they want to be learning and using their brains all the time. Plus endless energy. Great dogs with the right owner who will work with them. They're too smart to be locked up in a cage all day.
I own a 90 some lb GS/Malinios and his play energy seems non-stop. Certainly the most energetic dog breed I've ever own in my last 40+ years. I love this dog 😊
@@cevahirlacin7760They seem to be impressive and powerful sure. But nothing, nothing beats malinois’ electricity. They truly have it all, and are the most connective, present and aware dog I have ever encountered. Truly the top, when all things are added. 😊
I wouldn't say that, there are a number of Dogs that humans should fear over the Belgium Malenois. They are certainly hyper and agile, but, their smaller size makes them less of a threat compared to Doberman Pinchers, German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Caucasian shepherds, Kangals and several others!!!
I just checked on craigslist Los Angeles. There a lot of them for rehoming/ for sale that are a year or two old. People just can't take care of them properly. Not an apartment dog. This dog needs a lot of space to run, and do activities. Great for people who have large properties, and time to work, play, and train them.
Fur Missile, runs up to 35 mph, j umps up to 8 ft. excels at climbing, has ADHD to the max, has no off switch. Sir that is not a dog. That is Mr. Super Dog ❤ Continues to watch clip 20 times WOW
Mine have an off switch and will cuddle just as quick as they will take down an intruder. They do love to play and have a ton of energy but that will keep you moving too and help keep you healthy
I rescued a blind one from an incoming tide. He snapped once as i grabbed him, drawing blood, then relaxed completely as i hugged him. Many people said i was reckless but i would do it again in a heartbeat. Someone needed help. I helped.
I have an amazing Belgian Malinois. He's always ready to go but he relaxes too. After he turned two, he calmed down quite a bit. Before 2 years old, he did not have an off switch. Love this dog. He's so affectionate and sweet and talkative and happy.
My oldest Mal is 9. Hasn't slowed down at all. She goes to work with me everyday. She loves working the jobsites. A friend has a German Shepherd. The superintendent asked what's the difference between a Malinios & Shepherd? I threw a stick out the window, Malinios went out the window, Shepherd stopped and looked. Yes I knew it was a safe landing area.
Thats so true. When I initially started looking for a dog, I kept doing research. I wanted a husky, and I ended up with a small dog. I needed a dog for therapy to get me out of the house, and out of a huge huge rut. I was physically injured but after healing I never wanted to leave the house. I needed a dog with a lot of energy to get me moving, walking, and running again. I saw the work it takes for owning a big dog, and I decided after a few months to get a small dog. I got a small long hair chihuahua mix that was black and white. Looked like a 10 pound husky. Didn't have chihuahua ears. Just a foxy loving high energy dog that would come home after long walks, and sleep. Giving me time to go to work, and do other things.
yes german shepherd dog is not as agile but has a solid, solid Constitution.. intelligence out the wah-zoo.. loyalty.. ball drive but not frantic.. pack mentality.. protective.. will giv up his life for you.. overall the package deal.. bel mals are great but such high energy its almost a full time job to direction.. otoh GSD = best breed everrr..
You are right i used to raise german shepards this make great dogs but the are a dog that needs space and excerise. I would tell people what to expect.
Ya that was definitely higher than 8ft and potentially dangerous for the dog. The dog ran and launched off the owner’s back who was crouching to start. The start and end of the jump are cut off, probably for a reason.
@@geoffrey6000 I knew 4 people by your name and they all flunked out of university; two ended up in judicial confinement. All went belly up broke. What will be your drastically lame and crippled comeback?
@@charlessavoie2367 no need to compare your little husky to this breed. Your husky can survive long hard days in the cold, but can't do shit when it comes to what this breed is capable of. Also good thing I've already completed my mechanical Engineering degree. Sounds like someone did an arts degree.
@@geoffrey6000 Highlighted replies are invariably senseless. You made assertion of superiority for a breed, I relied that other breeds have superiority aspects also. You chauvinistically barked back with irrelevant mechanical engineering degree, totally disconnected to the topic. I had a course in logic in college, a point which shows your defective thought processes. I read the Malinois has 195 PSI bite. I also read Huskies have up to 320 PSI---superiority of more than 50% over Malinois, who I doubt harbor the sort of arrogance you have been marinated in for so long. No sense in hating dog breeds besides your favorite. A neighbor dog was crossed with Malinois and it was love at first sight in April 1992. I do not have disregard for other breeds---why do YOU???????????????
@@Lee-io9oy That not true! If you don't train him properly, don't encourage him in learning ... He will find a task for himself. Demolishing your furniture making it a sport to disobey. Training your children. The kids next door played hide and seek with him. I was able to have my Malinois for 13 years a joy!
It's all how you raise them. I have never had a problem with mine chewing up furniture or demolishing something that I like. I can't say that she is mellow. She is always on guard and pretty active. She has a lot of doggy toys. They are smart dogs and pick up commands easily. I would forget about owning one if you live in an apartment. Definitely better to have a large backyard. The malligator is a great dog. But they demand a lot of attention!
Nah, the wife and I picked up two (2) litter mates, boy and girl as 2-month-old pups. They are 9 months old today. We are training with them with a retired K9 officer as our instructor. The dogs and my wife and I are doing great. The trainer also kennels our dogs and has said that our Mals are amongst his favorites Mals that he boards. Oh, and guess what? I am 62, the wife is 59, and we HAVE NO EXPERIENCE!!!!
I've yelled at German shepherds in yards that were barking and told them to get their squeaky toy, and they did. For them, it turned into playtime. Wouldn't trust one as a guard dog.
My Deputy wife had a Malinois. We raised Malinois for a while. Our last one went to a Deputy at Washington County Sheriff office, NE. His name was MidKnight. Knight for short, he was all black. Knight pulled his deputy out of harm's way and took the bullet meant for the Deputy. Knight was smarter than most people and brave to a fault. I sure miss that dog.
I know about animals with no "off" switch too, my Devon Rex is just like that, if I don't give it at least one hour of interactive play time it starts trying to get my attention by climbing up curtains, sitting in front of the TV or walking over my keyboard, I know my place now...
I love the "my dog can do stuff" people. They don't understand the next level these dogs are, I've been lucky enough to have one, pure joy to watch them work!
Same. My male staff could clear a 6ft fence from a sitting position on egg rocks, but these are on a completely different level of power, agility, and eagerness to please. .
All shepherd breeds are beautiful, smart, loyal, brave and affectionate. But they all need significant exercise and stimulation every day. Worth the effort though. Fantastic companions for active families.
You got the part about herding breeds absolutely correct, I've had a red healer and a mixed blue healer/ Australian shepherd, both were intelligent and great for kids, but with the hours I worked, they were constantly finding trouble if they didn't have a herd of kids to shepherd. The Australian/ blue healer was given to my son by well meaning friends, the red healer "adopted" us when it was still a pup and drove me crazy trying to keep things repaired on my rare days off.
My sister has a Sable GSD WHO LOVES ME and ALWAYS wants to play! He can chase after his balls and frisbees ALL DAY LONG! He LOVES learning new tricks! He ALSO has a special talent! He can jump through hoops!
I really understand i had an german shepard, not the same, was a beauty let me always know wat she wantend, when i broke my legg nobody coult walk with her just a pipi and poop in the garden, no extra energy just watching over me 24/7
Wow awesome highly skilled dogs/partners…Our soldiers and Law Enforcement need them especially in their line of duty. God Bless Our Military, Our Law Enforcement and these Precious Partners who are fiercely loyal to them. ✝️🙏🇺🇸
Well that's a lawsuit. She sould surrender her dog because she can't handle her dog. That or her dog was attacked by another dog. That shows that she didn't do her homework on the breed before buying it. The Belgian malinois is a dog breed that not all can handle. Definitely not for a first time dog owner. They also need someone who has a lot of experience and can properly train the breed. I'm a dog lover.
Sometimes you don't have a choice, they choose you and our heart is too big to say no, so you learn how to be with this wonderful animal. Love chooses you!!!! I named my Malinois 'Ohana' - no one forgotten or left behind, family. ❤❤ She was rescued from deplorable situation.
Memories of a 12 year old female mixed Belgian Malinois/ South African ridgeback; saw that old girl do a standing leap of over 7 feet returning to ground with a " "Kiskadee"(small South American bird) in her jaws! Bird was disrupting mealtime! RIP 'Kaffy'!❤
What a beautiful dog. I’ve been wanting a dog for 15 years but waiting for my cat to go to heaven. My cat is 16 years old, but I’m too old now for a dog like that. Maybe in my next life I’ll have one.
I had a Tervuren as a kid and a Mel when i was 22. They imprint on one person but are bonded to the family out of necessity to please the primary alpha/human. posessive in all that they love. A perfect example is when my ex would attempt to get in bed on my side... my Mel-Umi would growl and block her from accessing my side. Lol, it was Her and dad's side only. The only downfalls are you! Attention, time, health, and endurance are all factors mandatory to lead these dogs, and let's not forget intelligence... if you are lazy stupid, they will work you and figure out how to capitalize on your slow response to their naughty endeavors 😂❤🎉
Nope I own a 19 month male.. And he's 100 MPR. But he's highly trained. So he knows the difference between working, playtime and chilling time. And is absolutely brilliant around my children and my grandchildren. 💯👍
Wrong they do have an off switch they don't work 24/7 🤦 everyone always over exaggerates these breeds of dogs even German shepherds where over exaggerated to the hills and most of it was utter bull
@franklynlindsay2728 Compaired to a labrador, yes. But if you give them proper training, exercise physically AND mentally daily, they're fine laying on their back getting bellyrubs at home. They can even do without if you have a few sick days, as long as they know, you're good for it after. Even my rescue pup of now 11 months can do that, cause she knows, she won't have to for long. That said though, they're still not for everyone.
I've had them all my life, and now a new rescue malinois girl is making me proud, they're awesome dogs, not just weapons, as many people seem to think, but yea, they're not for everyone 😅
We have 6 and 2 German Shepherds, okay and 2 cute little Tuxedo Bostons, aaannnnndddd 1 adorable Frenchie! What can I say, we love dogs, we rescued every one of them and have tons of room for them to play!
Yup!! We’ve got a four yr old female bred for work and all her movements are so nervy! Always have to guard your nose and teeth, the biggest danger is their head!!! Gotta luv em!!! Incredibly sensitive inside away from strangers, most would never know!!
Maybe not such a great idea for tight suburban living but out on the wide open fields on the farm would be heaven for them. Heaven for all animals really.
no. many bel mals hav prey drive that will go after certain animals.. make sure you train, train, train or get a livestock watching dog like anatolian or great pyrenees..
You’re absolutely wrong. I don’t know why people think these dogs want or need a wide open farm area. What they truly want and need is a devoted owner who works with them daily. They NEED a strong leader or they’ll become one n you don’t want that.
Yeah and than the dog lands on hard grounds , injuring paws and legs, just as the one letting the dog jump over a fence laying on the ground . Most of these handlers just do it to boost their own ego , not for the dogs health.
Thank you!! Please tell more people about how much energy these cuties have because I'm seeing so many of these beautiful dogs being returned and it breaks my heart.
