I'm absorbing this like a sponge I don't know tabs or chords I taught my self 8 years ago I know loads of chord bar chords jazz chords but these videos have opened up a whole new world I made up a new song yesterday and had awsome fun really appreciate your video's thanks

This really is terrific. I've always use the Romanza (I had classical guitar training) and improv'd over that to do scales. But this is even more fun. You seem to have a lot of the same influences in your playing. You might consider doing a Romanza variation as a scale exercise, I'm betting your embellishments would be a lot more interesting than mine. (Romanza is a 19th century piece so there's no copyright issue to posting a new version.)

Great vid, its really going to help me as ive decided after 15yrs of playing guitar, that im going into finger style because i can strum songs but cannot sing at all. So just strumming is boring without a voice. Your teaching is also very clear. Thank you so much

As a vocalist I can tell you that you probably sing better than you know. A lot of folks just choose material that has too big of a range. Listen to Mark Knopfler. Not only is he a great guitar player, but he limits his vocal range. He only sings about 5 notes on a lot of his songs. Go for mood and not for range. You can do it!

great lesson Marco - it would be useful to know if there are any tips to playing scales over bar chords in different positions (eg Cm chord at 8th fret, D chord at 5th fret) - cheers

Yep. That would be pretty challenging though especially if you have to hold the bar chord and play the scale at the same time!

Tried to slow it down; Middle/Index/Middle you said but then that's 3 notes and moving to the next string starts index/middle/index? back and forth, getting the feeling of 3 notes but not keeping to certain fingers?

I have a question about right-hand alternate index-middle fingers that you show us for scales and for use in runs. Who uses this in actual playing? Is it a classical guitar thing? S I only see alternate flatpicking and/or use of thumbpick as a flatpick (Tommy E) or use of index as a plectrum (Martin Simpson) for runs by fingerstyle players. I ask because I have adopted this index-middle in drilling the scales you show us, but wonder if I am practicing a method that I will never use in playing. I play fingerstyle, but when it comes to fast runs, I always revert to using index or thumb as a kind of alternating flatpick.

Hi, love the tutorials. And have just watched the first vid... finger picking in the five positions of Emaj.. I can follow your fingering on the right hand over the 5 positions, however when you fingerpick the major E scale it’s not as clear what finger method your using starting on the low Open E string!
