@@christineatkinson3640 I wonder if Incredible Tiny Homes in Tennessee will pursue cutting into this business also, remodeling vehicles. I didn't catch how long she's been in the van. Hopefully she has no robbers and carries a gun.
I don’t know what I’m more impressed with - the van or Clare. On second thought - it’s Clare. After all, the van is her creation. That is one cool lady.
I have to agree with you. She is just amazing. Her van is the most beautiful van I have seen by far. I love that she was able to fit a shower in it, too.
I do not jest when I say - this is absolutely the best makeover I’ve ever seen. And I watch these regularly. I could actually see myself in here. Great design and I love the wood and white. The spacing and storage are top notch. Then there’s the bathroom!!! Well done.
I said the same to myself, it is the most beautiful and homely van I have ever seen, and if I ever do this I will be copying hers as it was perfect in every way for me.
I'm researching, I really enjoyed her presentation! Her access to the cab area is my biggest like as it's my concern as a single. You nailed it with your comment.
you call that a simple life? the whole inside is made of real wood, very well finished. nothing simple about it, except that it is small, but she IS small
@Lacey Langton I'm english and australian. She has an australian overlay over an english accent. Sounds like she's been in Ozzie aboiut 20 years. Happy to be proved wrong.
She can't help but be proud. Like she said she planned every last millimeter of it (except for what came out of the Fiat factory.) My Dad did something like this back in the 1960s. Motels were way too expensive for a one income family with 5 kids, so he got a small school bus, stripped the interior, painted it, and turned it into a camper. It had booth seating that sat four (and slept 2), a 2 meter long couch, a kitchen with running water, a toilet, and a set of bunk beds. We vacationed all over the north central U.S. Not nearly as elegant as Claire's but just as well loved by his family.
Yes it does seem a lot of money but all she has to pay for is her diesel and gas to cook with. No houses tax, no water, electric bills!!! So although $70,000 sounds a lot if she has 10 years use out of it then Clair has saved a lot of money!!! Well done Clair I’m extremely impressed with your attitude to life.
@@jakethemuss5678 It’s up to her, not you. You’re entitled to an opinion but not to say that someone doesn’t have sense because they have different wants than you. In some people’s minds, you’re the one who is senseless. Live and let live.
@@jakethemuss5678 yeah the expense they put in these mans are outrageous, but I've seen a lot of vans that they put a lot of money into and they just didn't feel like homes they felt like a camper like a really nice camper. To me there's just a difference in the feel, but I hear you man the prices are just outrageous.
That's a fine, LOW price for the utility of permanent residence, and for an artist's income no less. Get a job. This generation is literally children still trading pennies off of an allowance. Treating everything as a luxury instead of a life investment, and are only concerned over what other luxuries they'll miss in the tradeoff. And this lady even boosted domestic labor and signed out of the housing bubble racket. At first I was sad she doesn't appear to have children to fulfill her life, but I reconsidered. The less, the better. All they'll do is pump money into double mortgages again and give banks that sweet collateral to loan MORE.
I'm 72 and about to head off on a fully decked out school bus. I'm so excited, as an artist with a 1900 dolls house I'm renovating and no way leaving behind.. I'm doing the same, monitoring my day, researching etc. Why not? I've always loved being outdoors night and day, always wanted to push walls out, open to nature. So, canvases and my little dogs, that's me. Love love hearing all about this cool van. Good on yer. Greetings from across the ditch!
That shower/bathroom idea is ingenious! Most vans I’ve seen don’t have a shower area (or it takes up too much space), but I like that she can bring it down and it also functions as her kitchen countertop. Not to mention how artistic and cozy her van/home feels! Great job Clare! 👏
To the person who asked if I had ventilation for the fridge...thanks to you I made sure I had enough....I drilled some more holes. Thanks so much, clare
WOW!!! Just Beautiful & Smart! I simply love all the wood - it's like a mini cabin inside. And so well thought out. This is the best conversion I have seen (and probably the best I will ever see). I sense balance and peace with Nature, from You and your Van. Congratulations Clare and safe travels... Greetings from Sthrn California! - Claudia -
"Right now we have a disco happening from the crystal... which is quite nice." She's so peaceful and lovely and her perspective is fresh and necessary. Sustainable in a world where people live unsustainably. Blessings to this lovely woman. Gratitude for her showing us a different way.
I don’t know who is she kidding when she say it’s messy in the cabinet. It so organized and love how she designed and decorated it. I love her design. Such a sweet lady and so genuine. This is the best van tour that I saw so far.
This lady is such an inspiration, not to mention, brilliant! 13:32 I love the heart. And the little mice are too cute! The little "house" with the windows is incredible! I really love the way she put this van together. When this was filmed in 2020, she sure did not look 64. She looked nowhere near it. She looks much younger. Mid 50's maybe! I love this lady. So glad she showed up in my recommended videos. Thumbs up!
I love she saved some of her home items ,this warms my soul. We worry so much when its only a decision away and just letting go . At the end we take nothing but out experiences in life. Such an nice lady ❤️
Honestly this is the most beautiful van I’ve seen.. I mean imagine parking in a forest in autumn or maybe a somewhere with a beautiful view .. and as soon as you wake up in this van you would feel like your in some kind of other dimention like narnia.. so magical
@@monksapollo735 exactly! I looked into getting these small heating and cooling units for a garage studio. The technology is out there and I'm pretty sure you can get units for off the grid purposes.
The only way a van has soul is because you impart some of yours into the it. Yes, you can have crafters help you with building skills you may not have. But it needs to be a part of you. Someone else can't make it for you.
@@leonross5663 You mentioned 70K as being a problem, and nothing else. Hard to read much into that minimalist comment other than you didn't like the price point. My point was that for a pittance compared to her prior expenses of owning a home, she's living her best life. More power to her; we should all be so happy with what we've got. Peace.
Well said. A world where everyone is content and is not angry anymore. Your comment is giving me ideas about such a peaceful world. If we could destroy anarchy and political powers by creating millions of Clairs it would be perfect. Everyone busy with work and living happily and not wasting resources.
It seems to me that when you have limited space, you realise what is really matters to you, and you gain a greater understanding of how you work and what you actually need. Clare and her van are a living illustration of this - inspiring.
I was homeless and bought a 5th wheel camper when I won my disability case. I`ve bought redundant solar power for individual items. My chest freezer has two 700 watt power stations rated at 2500 charge cycles to 80% remaining capacity each. They can be recharged in 3 1/2 to 5 hours by solar. I have two 500 watt power stations for my dorm fridge. I have one each for two 12 volt cookers, and several more small ones for lights, small fans, and WIFI. I just bought a 300 amp hour battery rated at 4000 to 8000 charge cycles for my tiny window air conditioner, supplemental heat, cooking, or distilling water off grid. I need a few more extra parts like fuses and a ground rod to safely use it as a solar system but I`m slowly getting it all. Right now I can charge it from my other power stations in a pinch or from grid power before a storm and can probably safely charge it from solar then disconnect it and connect my 2000 watt AC inverter. I`m just being very careful. I spent the last of my savings on it.
@@joanhughes7742 Now after I`ve set my camper up, put a 4500 dollar roof over it, had water, sewer, and electricity connected...the phone company tells me they can`t install service to a camper trailer. I`m disabled, no transportation, and a phone and internet are required to even survive. The Americans With Disabilities Act says it`s against Federal law to deny a disabled person access to telecommunications if it`s possible to provide them. This is how the state of Louisiana has ALWAYS treated me and the reason I`ve attempted suicide in the past. And they WONDER why people have complete mental breakdowns. I wish I had transportation right now. I want to meet the rude jerk my sister spoke to.
@@baneverything5580 I don't understand how the phone company can justify denying you telecom services when you have water, sewer and electricity connected... obvious indications of a permanent structure.
Absolutely agree, this is the first van conversion I've seen that I would actually really WANT to spend a lot of time in, though the toilet being where it is, while clever, is a bit off for me personally. (Not that I can think of anywhere else to put it!)
I love that you shared how you tracked what you did throughout the day so that you could make sure that you had a place for each of the activities that you love.
Oh my God she's so lovely I almost had tears in my eyes when she say "..disco from the crystal it's just quite nice" with this smile Just getting happiness from small things, simply amazing
The only caution I’d give her about her crystals and hanging magnifying glasses 🔍 is that if sunlight beams on them for any length of time they could spark a fire 🔥 (this almost happened to me in my house with a magnifying vanity mirror with morning sun through a bedroom window. Luckily I happened to look in that direction just as the first curl of smoke began... my guardian angel was definitely looking out for me that day! 😇)
I absolutely love her van! I'm 70 and just started my van life...on my way to Arizona now. While I love my van (bought used) hers is so beautiful and cozy with all the wood. And what a great idea having the inner doors behind the sliding door!
Oh Christine, I wish you the best of luck living in your van. I love people like you or Clara. I love how muchpeace and positive energy people like you give to the world. If only the whole world was so peaceful and positive.
I am 65 yrs old...Living at my daughter's because of a cheating husband...This would be soooo cool to do ! The only thing missing for me is the money !
This is the most homey van build I’ve ever seen of hundreds & hundreds! She could have a great side hustle consultant to van builds! Great vid. Thanks 😊
Clare's van is the best conversion I have ever seen. Clare is an absolute treasure, she is warmer than the look of the inside of her van, God bless her on her travels, I hope she is protected, always safe and joyous!!!
I absolutely love her van build.. especially the doors that make it look so homey...this is perfect. Only one thing is that I would paint those reflective black to look more stealthy..but it has everything I would want...and a must have shower.. I just love her build...bellisimo... And a great job of narration. I have two big dogs and three cats.. don't know how I could do it.. Thank you for sharing your home with us...spot on.
I came here to see the van and while it made an impression on me, Clare impressed me a lot more. A beautiful soul that I am sure makes an impression upon anyone she comes across.
Building a full time van has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. This van and beautiful lady brought me to tears. I love this van so much and it is now my dream van. She has given me hope as I'm in my 50's and wish so much I could make this happen for myself. ☮️💚
Jordan, you've come up with something really special here, thank you so much. I'm doing a similar thing to Clare but with less resources and it can still work, just not as easy. Her bathroom is by far away the best solution I've ever seen, and it's now in my notebook of ideas.
The bathroom is truly innovative. I've never seen anything quite like it! It's unique and useful and beautiful too. Her setup is among the best I've seen. Artist life! Thanks for sharing this with us; I'm inspired.
When you think you’ve seen the best conversions already, then, wham! ❤️ this little 🏠 , love this fantastic inspiring chill lady! 🤗 looking forward to seeing more videos!
Absolutely! I'm quite content with my life and have never felt such inner peace as I do now. The secret is to be grateful for every little thing you have. And every single life form that you get to spend quality time with. 💝🌺😎🤘
If lockdown has taught me anything, its that I liked living a much simpler and quiet life. I can see the attraction of having a van and living a simpler less consumer oriented life. Clares van is lovely.
I've already watched more than 1000 campervan videos. People on the videos have nearly the same structure and organization in their vans. However, their stories and their lives behind them are totally different. That is the reason why I watch this kind of channel.
I love, love, love the bathroom! The whole time I was thinking that perhaps she has an outiside commode and shower. But when she lifted her cook bench, I was floored! This mouse house is amazing! Way to go Clare
However this is Illegal Habitation in America and Britan. She is considered a Gypsy Homeless Bum . You people should state the face ILLEGAL TO LIVE IN A VAN------in America & Britan. GYPLY TRASH THIEZES AND CROOKS.
@@skywalker6648 For sure. In Australia, a lot of women over 55 can't get jobs and therefore can't pay rent and are living in cars, or couch surfing. Personally, I'd love to hit the road :)
@@jogrant3851 That is unfortunate. In terms of hitting the road myself, I'd like to do a trial run with it first, lol. Though, I am concerned about safety.
Awesome. I don’t usually bother to log into RU-vid, let alone leave a comment, but this van has been done so well it’s impossible not to. I can totally see the appeal of this sort of mobile living, especially when the interior has been done to this level of detail and with so much love and thought. Really exceptional work!!
I absolutely love this series, can't wait to see more! Seeing this lady so happy with her living situation so late in life gives me hope for people in the future!
I have a 70 year old buddy lives out of his mini van he’s like the happiest man I ever met with his living situation it motivates me as well if he can do I can do it easier said then done tho
I would enjoy a documentary of "On the Road With Clare." Not a cheesy reality show but just a really cool peek into a week or two of traveling with this super lady. If she wouldn't consider that an invasion of her privacy, someone please offer to do it. It's obvious the interest is there - look at the number of views & comments.:)
That is an incredible piece of work, she has drafted a beautiful work of art, I love it! She has a calming voice, not an irritation after a couple of Minutes which most are. I truly enjoyed this!!
I've had the campervan on my watch later list four years I love this campervan And I never get tired of watching this over and over as far as I'm concerned this is the best camper build I have ever seen
No! We should ask more of our existence! Her van gives her elation, but her elation didn’t start nor end with the van. That’s because she’s a beautiful person intent on a beautiful life that happens to have designed a van life to continue to live beautifully.
This is my favourite van yet. Love the idea of entering a “real”wood door. Such excellent ideas. She has all. her needs fulfilled. Nothing wasted. Her fridge is also her lounge; the extra counter space converts to her bathroom complete with a shower. She even has a real stove with an oven. I could live in this if I was just me. (except the winter months as I live where it gets extremely cold with heavy snow for 3-5 months of the year.)
@@fayewhite7541 Why not? Those of us in the USA don't bite; at least most of us don't. I have many Canadian friends, and a few Canadian relatives ( My mom's cousin married a Canadian and moved there.).
This is the first van I’ve seen with everything you need on a daily basis! Bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, dining space, office space! She’s got it all and it’s so charming ♥️
I simply love the build, but her personality and sincerity is simply priceless, thank you so much for sharing. I'm still in the planning phase, this is definitely a motivator. .
Wow, that is beautiful. Havent seen a build where there are internal doors on the back double doors and sliding door. Extra security and insulation. Some ideas to consider. Thanks
I love your van build. I love to cook and bake from scratch. It's perfect. Probably the best I've seen. I've seen a lot of beautiful ones as well. You did Awesome on your build safe travels.
Nats Place There is only an internal door behind the sliding door ... not the back double doors too. They are just lined with wood. Where did you get that idea from ? It is clear in the clip the internal doors are at the front only, with a small door to the cab pass through.
This has to be one of my favorite vans. I love the wooden doors behind the sliding van door & the windows. That feels secure to me. I love the kitchen, because I love to cook too and the bathroom is placed quite well. I also like the door that leads to the cab. This is a really, really, really nice van. I like it.
I feel like I just want to hug her! This made me nostalgic for my first (and best) van build, back in 1995: all wood and homey and artful. I've been in other rigs and situations since, and am looking at creating another one this year, but I have always missed my hand designed, much loved first project. Thank you for the inspiration, Clare!
She is truly sincere when she said that she is living her life. I can see it and hear it in her voice. Watching her just made me calm. You are very creative and inspiring 💛
@@dianeveilleux6452 No reason you couldn't use a fridge that opens conventionally under the seat. Plenty of that size and height. They're generally not as efficient as a top opening but enclosing that fridge in the box is just trapping the heat that it generates in doing the cooling. So that setup is actually terrible for efficiency.
