Nice trip. Great photography and good story. FYI, the Que in Quebec is pronounced like "K". That's why we can spell "check" like this or like "cheque". O'que (ok)! hahaha
Loved it! I'm hoping to do this trail in Aug/Sept as well! Maybe in 2025. I'd really like to do it this year, but the finances aren't quite there, and I need to do a lot more research on the area. Thanks for sharing!
He! Don't doubt, just do it! We almost didn't do any research and didn't have any experience with canoeing. So you will manage ;). And financially it can be very cheap if you decide to not eat in restaurants and sleep in hotels 😊. It is such a beautiful trail!
@@WeLeaf yes! :) Thru-paddled in the spring of 2018 and have worked on sections of it near Errol for the majority of my life (guiding and teaching whitewater kayaking).
Hi Tom! It is such a beautiful trail! We had zero experience with canoeing when we started this trail, so we didn't know any techniques. After 40 days on the trail we met a man from Maine and he thought us some techniques but not the J stroke. Still a lot to learn for us :)
@@WeLeaf Thanks for your reply. We all got together before any trip and watch paddling videos because we did some heavy duty white water encounters on rivers. It saved our lives more than once . It takes awhile to learn all about canoeing. It will make a big difference in your control and confidence and safety. Good luck. Safety is first. Thanks cheers.🇨🇦👍
@@tombeckett4340 We did watch paddling videos as well, but because we had zero experience, we didn't focus on different stroke techniques :). We also knew that we could portage around major rapids in case we didn't feel comfortable. After 50 days in the canoe we definitely learned a lot, but there is a lot more to learn!
@@WeLeaf That’s for sure it’s amazing how much we can learn through experience. And just watching Others. I’m still learning different stuff in regards to white water padding and I’ve been doing it for over 50 years. And still love it. Cheers & thanks. 🇨🇦👍
Hi Dan, you are absolutely right. We still regret that we took some of the branches away, so please forgive our mistake and ignorance. It was the first beaver dam we had to pass. It seemed so high and we didn't know how to pass, so we created a small opening. Doing it, we already realized that this wasn't right. We didn't touch the other 17 beaver dams that followed later in the day. We should have deleted this scene from the video, sorry!
Epic! Very professionally made look to this video. I was curious what model of Northstar canoe you were using. Not the one with the stripe and tumblehome but the other one with the straight sides. It looks similar in design to the old Mohawk Blazer 16 I've been using for years and since I would like a similar design when I upgrade I thought I'd ask. Thanks.
Thanks for the comment :)! We used a Northstar B17 (northstarcanoes.com/canoe/b-17/). We were super happy with this one. It's very stable on all kinds of water and super durable.
