Amazing use of symmetry and space to reflect the character's mood! Thank you for making this. Buñuel getting some of the admiration he deserves.

I liked how he had access to secure real estate properties, elegant courtrooms, faith worship facilities such as endlessly beautiful cathedrals and such, not to mention open-minded actors who look great in these shots too. Thanks for the cool post

Thanks for this. What a remarkable film-maker he was, and such a long career. Only Chaplin's was longer, I think.

🙏 True. Chaplin and Bunuel had a long and remarkable career. I think others were Hitchcock and Sidney Lumet.👍

@@Adyfilk Not much of a mainline director, but Manoel de Oliveira directed his first project in 1931 and his last in 2015! Essentially an 84 year career

Beautiful video! 😻 Even though I like Buñuel’s films, I would never out of my will choose to watch those awful scenes his early films contained, so thank you for not including those. 🥳 I simply cannot understand who in their right mind would enjoy or simply choose to watch such things. 🤯

Man Buñuel would throw rocks at you if he knew you made an essay on "beautiful shots" on his films, he hated pleasing bourgeois aesthetics, he purposedly made Tristana ugly just to fuck up that notion of "beauty". I watched all of his filmography and he never stroke me as an pictorial filmmaker, he is more of an iconoclast, a destroyer of sacred precious religious or high society images, he is a filmmaker of ideas and contradictions and inducing altered states (dreams). Just read his autobiography

As one critic stated, there may be 200 ways to shoot a brief sequence of shots and Bunuel would always choose the 'right' one.

Catherine Deneuve being casted as Tristana is a GIGANTIC counterexample of destroying the beauty of that film. That woman is so beautiful that it makes the entire film beautiful.
@poetcomic1

Hitchcock loved Tristana and Catherine Deneuve was as close to a 'Hitchcock blonde' as any other director worked with.

I think you also did a "Most Beautiful Shots" blah blah of Fellini. The music you used over the top of the Fellini was equally atrocious to the music on this one. In fact, neither of these directors had such poor taste as that. Hence I'm inclined to skepticism about whether you are qualified to judge what is the most beautiful of anything.
