I find it kinda hard to blame that specifically on him and not the fact the entire team was having a mental breakdown outside of like super twilight and choi. Super has come out and said that it was hard to blame a specific person for the issue's that season because everyone had their own problems. Huge chemistry issues causing beef between players, playstyle issues like FDgod and Violet not matching up together well compared to moth and violet. Smurf and Glister were both on record of having mental issues while glister underperformed at scrims. Super and Choi were the saving grace of that team cause despite all the issues they were consistent and at least keeping Shock's tankline stable when they played, especially in playoffs. Twilight also played well but he just couldn't do much cause he always shared time with Violet.

In regards to Chipsa, some Philly staff did come forward after the season explaining their reasoning. I forget if it was Christfer or Roston or someone else, but basically pre-season Doom was VERY broken and neither EQO/Ivy were performing well on it. They scrimmed a bit with Chipsa & they dominated, hence the signing. Ironically Doom was nerfed out of the meta before the season had started so he was perma-benched, but even players on other teams like Super alluded to the fact that Philly would've been terrifying if that meta had stuck around. At least according to scrimbux at the time.

1) junbin baptiste and max lucio make sense, he wanted both of them to be in the match at the same time + they didn't even have a dedicated main support, also bap on CR is a healbot so junbin could play him 2) moon signing fleta wasn't nepotism, due to netease issues with blizzard, SHD had basically no money and had to sign whatever they could, there wasn't much tank talent in APAC at that time so they went with fleta

As randoms, we don't imagine this could have that much of a consequence. For Glister.... I understand why he is playing Tracer, since the maps he played Widow Swap is a legit strategy. but Violet playing Cassidy is the more weird part. Although... Tbh I feel like they all could just be overwhelmed with the situation. Idk if anyone here experienced that but when a game is a big part of your life and you spend a lot of time on it it's super easy to get frustrated when you suddenly do a bit worse you feel like you wasted tone of time. Idk about glister but tayio could just get upset with the first map and blamed himself for it. It takes more time to develop a "pro" mentality then to learn how to play on a pro level especially when it comes to game like overwatch. There is a lot of things going on in the game and sometimes if you can't focus and follow enemies movement you aren't able to hit any shot. Maybe he needed time to gain focus but then he started blaming himself for the loss and played even worse. When it comes to chipsa I think it's obvious. He isn't dumb and he isn't a bad player. He gained so much popularity by being a "funny, unlucky, mad guy" so ofc some people didn't get it and hated on him. It's really difficult to be able to focus on pemforming when you know people are going to use your every mistake to blame you. Also overwatch league wasn't a good place to build your esports career. Meta was changing quickly and teams didn't hesitate with hiring new players so someone like chipsa or tayio didn't have time to adapt. But the video is really interesting and I am waiting for the next part!

what makes me wonder is who was signing those players, like what meta do you need 4dps on team? if it's coaches, i think it is their fault that they couldn't handle their players and not able to give the players opportunity. but who knows.
@Jake48104
@Jake48104 4 месяца назад
Technically, towards the later part of goats when some teams ran 4 dps, that could be why
@AnikethBandi
@AnikethBandi 28 дней назад
Teams had GMs who signed players and well the 4dps thing is kinda dependant on the situation. Crusty is known as the experimental coach, so for him having more players on a team is honestly better for him because relative to other coaches he is capable of making shit work, even when it shouldn't. Glister was just an unlucky signing in terms of fit. Taiyo was a response to the genji meta and just didn't work out. Striker and Nero were the actual players until striker got kicked and they had to bring back ans. Also if you look at the year before, 2020 shock was one of the deepest rosters in the league and that was its biggest winning point, because they had a solution to almost everything.

Overall with whatever happened with Ta1yo....you can't say that Crusty did manage to get the Shock to the finals 3 times and winning twice. With a 4th place finish thrown in for good measure. To question it is kind of weird as to why Ta1yo didn't get the appropriate amount of playtime. It's cause he wasn't that good lol. You don't see the scrims and that's where the trust is earned to play live. Flexibility has always been the most important thing for any player. The ideal situation....no? But being on the shock means winning championships not being a good player on a bad team which his alternative reality would of been had he been on the Chengdu Hunters or something...

from what i remember, during the countdown cup in 2020, Genji was hard meta. Shock had Striker, Ans and Rascal as dps players. None of them are great genji players. Rascal could play him, but not at a level of profit, fleta or sp9rkle. They needed a Genji player and Ta1yo was introduced as just that. I can remember that his announcement video, consisted of mostly genji clips. After realising that Ta1yo on shock wont work, they kept struggeling to play a genji comp. They tried super on genji or running of meta comps.

I cant remember at all where that was said but considering how hard he pushed himself and how burnt out he was at the end of that season it makes sense. Edit, I found it, it wasnt to replace Ans though i do remember something about him having issues during the season. It was an interview from Dogman talking with Moth, they scrimmed 3rd impact during season 3 and saw Taiyo as a flexible leadership player to replace Sinatraa. Doesnt really explain why Crusty would want to pick up a hitscan player to replace a flex dps though. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yzUCynMKSy8.html
