Good show. For anyone interested in the RMW gardener, have a look at the Gammon. Same last and build, but the Vesta leather is much more scratch resistant than the greasy Kip.

My comfy boot list (random order)... Allen Edmonds 1757 last Higgins Mill in CXL and Patton in kudu; Grant Stone Edwards in suede; Parkhurst old 18 last fully lined Delaware in kudu; Caswell Lisbon in CXL.

@dannyg6045 Год назад
Yes higgins mills and the patton in kudu are very comfortable. I'd say the Frye philips leather sole is up there for me also. Parkhurst fits well but its not next level like the Frye Philips or Higgin Mills.

You should put titles or headers on the screen so someone can constantly see what boot you are talking aboit. Other than that, excellent sir.

As far as comfort id put my leather soled boots ahead of my wedge soles, second with the Eugene sole from Truman and Commando soles last. Rough out and suede gets first place for comfort from me for uppers.

Thank you for another informative video! While my boot modest boot collection doesn't include high dollar brands, my comfort boots are very similar to your selections. Thursday's moc toe Diplomat & Grant Stones's Brass are foot favs here. Chelseas in chromexcel are easy wearing & my leather soled, veg tanned Diesel maybe stiff, but still comfy too I'll add that in general all of my boots - whether service, moc toe, chelsea, combat, hiking and even western styles are more supportive & comfy than regular low-cut shoes. Heck, except for summer days in river sandals or sneakers - I never wear regular shoes anymore! Cheers

One of the great mysteries of life in my opinion is why anyone thinks a white wedge sole is a good idea, I simply hate them. I have a pair of Dievier Nomads with the black sole which should be considered on any list of comfortable moc toe boots. I heard a rumor that Redwing is going to introduce additional colors with black soles in addition to the green ones. Rant over, nice review

Excellent information! Saving for Viberg's Service Boot. Scary spending that much money without an in-person fitting at the source then ending up with a bad fit.

Whites MPs are super comfortable. I have them in black waxed flesh with a Dainite sole. I have a few other boots that are very comfortable (notably the Allen Edmonds Higgins Mill and a Truman 55 last boot in Rio Latigo leather) but my Whites are by far my most comfortable

@ethanbaran6158
@ethanbaran6158 6 месяцев назад
@drzaius844 they are absolutely amazing! Waxed flesh was already one of my favorite leathers and the mp last is very comfortable. Compared to my other service style boots I would say they're probably the most well put together in design, shape and actual build quality and durability. For reference since ordering my mp's I wore my IRs for about 1mil steps, my GS diesels for roughly 500k and my Truman's for about 700k steps. With the mp's at around 500k steps aswell.

I have the pair of Grant Stone Ottawa’s in 9.5 EEE Black CXL and it is an amazingly comfortable boot and very stylish. It’s weird feeling the extra length in the toe without my feet slipping forward. The Leo last cups my heel, ankles, and ball of my feet perfectly while allowing plenty of room for the toes. I guess that is what a combination last like their Leo or even Alden’s Truebalance last feel like.

Thank you so much for your well-informed, entertaining videos! I really appreciate your input on the RMW Gardeners, as I'm headed to Oz in a few weeks and will pick up a pair in Cairns. For US buyers looking for RMW boots or other Aussie brands, consider some of the online vendors in Oz. You'll benefit from (often) more competitive prices than those shown on RMW's or others own websites less the GST.
@Bootlosophy
@Bootlosophy Год назад
And as a tourist to Australia you can get a refund of GST when you leave. It’s called the Tourist Refund Scheme. That makes an AUD 649 boot cost AUD 590
@bthb1620
@bthb1620 Год назад
@@Bootlosophy Yes, very good point. Here's a helpful tip I was recently given about the TRS. Claims may be made for purchases that exceed AUD 300 from the same vendor for goods removed from AU. So, even if you made two purchases for AUD 150 each, as long as the combined total exceeds AUD 300, the 10% GST can be rebated. Next, the goods purchased have to be shown, along with the invoices pertaining to them, to the ABF before boarding a flight or ship. This used to be a real pain, as there's a limit to what can be carried on board, but now it's possible to visit ABF to make one's claim, show them what was purchased, and then put the goods into bags that'll be checked through to your final destination. This is available in Sydney, Brisbane and other cities. You may need to check and extra bag, but at least you can get it on board vs. carry-on limits. Finally, there's an iOS app available that allows invoices, etc. to be summarized in advance of visiting ABF. Instead of filling out a claim at the airport, the app summarizes your invoices and lets ABF scan the QR code in the app for the details. Goods still have to be presented, but the app expedites the process. Be advised that depending upon one's destination, e.g., LAX, there may be long lines at the ABF office, so plan ahead, arrive early and take an extra bag if you plan to check your goods after visiting the ABF.
@bthb1620
@bthb1620 Год назад
One more thing - the TRS doesn't cover purchases for hotels, drinks, food, etc consumed within Australia. They have to be removed from Oz to be eligible.

I'd be interested in the most comfortable boots regardless of price, sounds like the Indonesian boots were close to bespoke? Unfortunately my RM Williams gardners boots are one of the most uncomfortable when worn on hard surfaces, not bad when walking in paddocks or turf surfaces and they fit properly.

Another great video. I've learned a lot watching your videos. I do wonder, do you own or have you tried any moccasin constructed boots? I would think something from Rancourt or Russell Moccasin would rate well in comfort. I also think they might be a best of both worlds, offering immediate comfort like Thursdays as well as lasting comfort like Whites.

I don't have a pair of Brass in the wedge sole but the (same) one on the Field Boot is squishy and easy to break in. Softer than RW 875 but a little less than Thorogood's.

Hi, Next year I'll be taking a trip to Italy. I'll be walking around through museums, streets, etc. all day long for a couple weeks. I really don't want to wear tennis shoes. I'd rather wear boots. My Clinch boots are quite comfortable for daily wear, but I do not think they will be comfortable enough for walking around all day long on hard surfaces. Do you think the boots in this video will suffice? Any recommendations on boots maybe you don't have? Thanks

@@Bootlosophy I think it gets easier and easier the more boots and brands you own. It can be tricky for beginners who have little exerience with each brand, as the fit of each can very quite a bit. My favourites are White's and Nick's Handmade, when it comes to high end and very structured boots.
