The Clippers really got their myLeague on, just got highly regarded talent and then 2k sum engines decided that they weren’t allowed a deep playoff run
In my MyLeague sim on 2K19, the Clippers have Zion, Hakeem, and Gary Payton (I introduced old draft classes in later years on my sim) and they still get a 4-6 seed and knocked out in the first round. Even in games, the Clippers can't catch a break.
@@tannerlittleton91 In my 2020 MyLeague the clippers had Pg Kawhai kobe and Kemba,( i was using old draft too) and were the first seed. Blew a 3-0 lead in the second round to Jabari Parkers 5th seed Timberwolfs without KAT and lost by10points.Jabari Parker droped 40 on them somehow.
@Imran Ahmed They choked, but you are very wrong. Even though I don't give the analyst much credit, some of them have been correct in the post mortem. You should watch a few.
Pat Bev claiming it's over for the Lakers and Lebron at the start of the season, Kawhi's New Balance ad saying it's his town now and disappearing in Game 7, PG going after Dame and then becoming 'Pandemic P' during the playoffs, Marcus Morris trying to fight rather than play ball in the playoffs, Montrezl calling Luka a 'bitch ass whiteboy'. I feel bad for Clippers fans I really do, but they're the most embarrassing team in the league right now and one of the biggest underachievers I've witnessed over the past 5 years. Oh and don't get me started on Doc Rivers...
@@ivandreuxzuev9473 in terms of potential and failure to meet it, I would say they are at 2013 lakers level. However, the 2013 lakers rarely played fully healthy and kobe was out for the playoffs. The clippers had everyone for the playoffs.
@@Noushauga They talked Blake into staying on the Clippers, saying that they wanted him to be a Clipper for life and hang up his Jersey one day, just to sing him to a max deal and send him to Detroit.
@@kurtgo544 the Kings already had a Conference Finals appearance before 2002.....the Kansas City Kings were in the 1981 WCF with Scott Wedman (probably the most obscure conference Finals of the last 50 years)
I mean the Knicks haven't won a championship in 40 years how do you win your last championship 40 years ago! Same with the 76ers they haven't won a championship in nearly 40 years
@Shrezzy0 yeah but the thing is that both teams have had really dominant team after their last final and yet both of them haven't made the finals since then if 2007 Cavs made the finals then the fucking Knicks could've in 40 years at least the 76ers have made the finals since their last title
They choked and get out played, and there is nothing wrong with that if at least you try new strategies, but they did not... Thats why they looked so bad, and pat, marcus and harris demeanor doesnt help neither...
If you watched the series, Doc really didn’t change strategy from the start of a game. In the playoffs, it changes after a bad game but he only changes things when they’re down during a game. I think him having that team made him feel like he doesn’t really need to change things before a game which messed them up.
Doc must have tapes on everyone in the NBA, cause the fact that everyone acts like he is a great coach is baffling. He must be a Made Man or something.
He’s got a ring, really shines when his teams are mediocre and they overachieve. But when his teams have expectations they either get injured or he forgets how to make adjustments which is baffling.
@@vinnybrown1122 Overachieving is Coach Spo, Nick Nurse, or Mike Malone. All Doc does is get mediocre teams to the 8th seed and lose in the 1st round and gets great teams to lose in the 2nd round. Scott Brooks has been to as many Conference Finals as Doc. Without 08, Doc is literally Scott Brooks as a coach. Except Brooks playoff win % is better than Doc's and their regular season win % isn't too much different either. Doc (.581%) Brooks (.564%)
.I figured out why the Clippers lost. They have no leadership in that locker room and barely championship experience. Lakers have 3 leaders Lebron, AD, and Rondo. Plus they have alot of dudes on their team who has won championships and at least been to the finals. Clips might be better off trading for CP3 or Jrue Holiday
Been there done that. Even though I hate Rondo sometimes, but you do have a point. Also the Lakers have 7 players that has been to a NBA finals before and 6 of them has at least one ring. LeBron has 3, McGee and Green has 2, Rondo, Smith, and Cook each have 1.
When you hear those trumpets, you know he’s gonna mention all the 3-1 leads the Clippers and Doc Rivers blew on this masterpiece of an Andy Hoops video
The Clippers just really are cursed 50 years of not making a single conference finals! Nice vid Andy well analyzed and just wanted to lyk you’re my inspiration on the tube! I wish to make it like you someday but I’m struggling so much still :(
This is the 2nd time in NBA history the Nuggets played "giant killer" and altered the destiny of a franchise. They did it as a number 8 seed against the Sonics in 1994 and again with the Clippers this season. The Clippers can win with this present squad; coach Rivers included. But, this is a wake up call and a soul search call. The organization has to get serious about winning and adjust their collective attitudes; don't underestimate anybody. We'll see next season how they recover, if at all.
PG was awful. I was more baffled by Kawhi though. He touted himself as the new king. His season was on the line , and he played like garbage. Its not just missing shots, because that happens. He was ineffective. He didn't make any great defensive stands or hustle plays. In the fourth, he looked aimless with the ball in his hands. It was so disappointing to see one of the great superstars brought down so low. He doesn't deserve to be given a pass. Its one thing to have an off game, its another to be completely lifeless and ineffective on the court.
The ego and their primadona mentality had devastated the Clippers and it shows time and time again. Even in the regular season, they couldn't play together in sync.
@Jason Pamatmat The Hornets are kind of the Eastern Conference equivalent to the Wolves....came into the league around the same time (1987 for the Hornets, 1989 for the Wolves), had players that died in car accidents (Malik Sealy, Bobby Phils), poorly run, poor ownership, some minor playoff success but more often long playoff droughts...
I did but now looking back, I realize that they had no playmaker to get them open looks and most of their scoring came from Kawhi, pg, and Lou just going 1v1 like it’s street-ball which is exactly the opposite of how you want to win a chip
Also in the 2008 finals tom thibodeau who is a assistant coach back in the celtics he was the one who set the celtics defense on how to guard kobe and gasol while rivers didn't do anything about it
@@FAlynn92 I think it's funny that nothing's really changed. They still haven't gotten past the 2nd round, even with this new roster. And so much hype was given before the season started.
I feel like the Clippers and Rockets have been running on parallel courses for the past eight years or so in the sense that they put together super talented rosters but have a tendency to melt down in the playoffs. Reminds me of the Dallas Mavericks before they finally broke through. That was the first year of the "Heatles" and NO ONE had picked Dallas to win anything, and that was in Dirk's 13th season.
Great insight into pace and halfcourt offense. I can't believe I haven't heard more about that! That explains a lot about why the nuggets have been so good in the playoffs the last couple years.
yea, at this point, they should just move to anaheim and have their own city, county, fanbase, etc. Abandon the Clippers name that's associated with CURSED San Diego
@@jetroeribal1539 but the current Clippers owner doesn't want to relocate there in spite that he's a Seattle native due to lack of big markets there. And that's the reason why the Sonics left to OKC in 2008. It was a sad city, the only way to recognize that city are Boeing, Space Neddle, Microsoft & grunge music everything else are none. 😭
Even though they made the Western Conference Finals the following year, the fact that the Clippers blew it is something that will always stick in their mind no matter what happen.
exactly. Those celtics teams from 08 - 10 could practically coach themselves. Doc just happened to be the one named head coach. He is not good at making adjustments at all. two blown 3-1 leads in a 5 year span is very telling.
Here just after they announced kawhi out indefinitely after an ACL injury. Man the had such a good run, PG 13 was playing lights out and then this happens. Man I don't think they are making conference final this Season.
@@Shibansh Had a couple more shots fallen we theoretically could've won that 4-1 or 4-2. Call me biased because I'm a diehard Clippers fan but I honestly think we could've
tf you mean "just Kawhi" ? the Clippers gave up their entire future for a dude who finished 3rd in mvp voting to play with him, they had 2 6MOTY candidates, 3 defensive team players this year, and an apparent "championship coach". All year people were saying this was the deepest team in the league but now after they lose they're "just Kawhi" lol
great vid! the clips looked super scary in the regular season right before the rona shut the league down. don’t think they will gather this sort of respect again anytime soon.
I’ll get you banned from RU-vid for your horrific comment of wanting to love Los Angeles again, when they aren’t moving out of California and there will be no basketball in Seattle.
Anaheim. move the nets to Seattle and do a reallignment. we all know the Thunder should no longer be in the Northwest Division when they are damn near in texas
Clippers teams always sounds good on paper (CP, Blake, Deandre - PG, Kahwi) but when playoffs come they just go cold and it's so weird to see because they have talent but that's it.
The problem was the entire team never played together in the regular season. It was always a big question mark how the chemistry would be. And in the playoffs wen everybody had to play they just didn't gel together resulting in terrible performance.
Whenever I look at the LA Clippers, they are literally the Toronto Maple Leafs of L.A. I think the Leafs analogy fits perfectly with the Clippers because they blow leads, they can't make it past a certain round (most notably the 2nd round, maybe the first round), and blow series lead. For example, the 3-1 series lead. The LA Clippers blew a 3-1 series lead to Denver in 2020 and the Rockets 2015, while the Leafs blew a lead to Montreal 9 months later.
Doc is not getting fired. This is the perfect time for any African American head coach (in terms of job security). Hence, why Harrell didn't get any backlash for his racist comments to Luka.
Doc's ability to guide the Clippers through the Don Sterling era is probably the biggest reason he should get another shot. No other coach is motivational enough to get a team back from such discouragement, even if he lead them there.... Plus we know there's a Clippers curse, I honestly have a hard time pinning it on Doc given they've had this issue since Doc was a player
The Clippers at this point should strongly consider leaving LA and getting a Fresh Start relocating somewhere else. San Diego or Seattle could both use an NBA Franchise/team.
It seems to me it's basically a combination of attitude and chemistry. Marcus Morris talking trash to Denver, Montrezl trying to pick up a fight with Doncic, Beverley talking big early on, and the infamous PG antics in timeouts about who's to blame for balls turned over. It all comes back to Doc, eventually, it is the coach's job to keep the unit tight and keep peoples' both feet on the ground. Thank you, next.
The issue isn't really Doc this series. It was the players, they bragged too much. Also, what lacked the Clippers is a floor general, they need a point guard to dictate the offense. That's why there's playoff Rondo.
What app do you use to convert your text into audio? It's a bit clunky can tell it's not human. My housemate walker in asked if I was on hold or something. Nice pics n vids tho
la clippers is equals to man city in england meanwhile lakers is like man united. united is really glorious and has a lot of history meanwhile city always spends a lot of money just to sign a star and their performance worsened year by year
Its bad when a franchise builds a great culture and dramatic changes it with a two fifths starting line up change which change the way the team traditionally functions. Now, personalities began to have conflict, practices suffered, roles changed and production drastically declined.
FACT: Any professional sports team with connections to San Diego is CURSED. I should know, I’m a San Diego Native born & raised. 44 years on this earth & zero championships in any sport (minor league sports don’t count).
