I like these explanations. During prespawn, I found a green pumpkin red flake floating worm to be incredibly effective, and it turns out that red and green happen to be the colors that bass can see best!

The lakes I have access to fish are all man made private lakes. No crawfish as far as I know but I’m gonna do some experimenting with colors starting next week. It’s 9 degrees tonight and I’m making sure nobody steals my recliner until it warms up some. Thanks for the great tips !! Love the shirts I got from you too.

I set a Red toy mouse, a White toy mouse and a purple/black fuzzy ball in front my cat. The cat goes straight run attack for the Red mouse. Just the thought

Maybe because lakes are clearer in winter and early spring? When I put a crawfish in my fish tank they will turn reddish in a few days.

Josh from Ohio Bass Guru fishes alot in the harbors and bays of Lake Erie. 85% of his catches is on red square bills. So that color works up here too.

In three years fishing red hard durung fall through to spring post spawn. Ive caught 2 fish on red lures lol. No matter what people say they dont work everywhere duting those times of year and im in central Alabama. Our craws dont ever turn red or orange, they are a lighter brown belly with a greenish brown back during those times and darker like a green pumpkin back with mid brown belly. Red sucks here in all the water around me 😂

The reason red and green are so effective is because bass only have two types of cones. One sees hues of red. The other sees hues of green. They can also see any color combination resulting from blends of green and red. Humans have three types which are red, green, and blue. We are able to see most any color because all colors exist due to the near infinite saturation combinations.

I feel like I always need to know the why as well. I think in fishing this can be beneficial. As many times fishing is situational, and knowing why certain techniques work when they do and when they don’t. Knowing why, I feel allows me to adapt to different conditions! Great video as always!😁😁

Thats not correct. Sure...you may catch a really aggressive bass twice in the same day but bass do associate lures with negative experiences..However, like I said in the video...Berkley said that no bass has remembered for more than 6 months with the majority of them being a lot less than that

I am sure in stained water...colors mean less since a bass is going to use its lateral line to primarily find its pray. Would be a good video to dip lures in the water and see what they look like to the human eye

Even if colors look different in stained water certain ones still stand out for a fish even if its less important. A chartreuse or fire craw red is going to stand out way more than green pumpkin or watermelon
