And most of this stuff isn't illegal. That's why things are measured by weight, for the most part, rather than container. and some of this is just complaining, like the one that got 2 less chocolate squares. Evidently, the packaging changed, and usually most money you pay for is on the packaging rather than the product, it's why buying in bulk is cheaper.

Canadianvoice what? Reporting usually does nothing or would take much longer to take effect. Also the company can just restructure the product and put in back out. You dont get all the money for yourself. Anyone can start their own lawsuit. It's the best way to affect a crooked business, the money is all that matters. I don't see it as greedy at all. You where ripped off and deserve compensation. What's greedy about it. If I stole $20 off of you, it would be greedy to want it back? That's dumb.
@heavennunya809
@heavennunya809 5 лет назад
@@jonnybaze Well, first, by all rights people aren't getting ripped off for most of these. They paid for what it says, you just need to learn to pay attention. While some of what was in the video were obviously packaging mistakes, the rest clearly dictated what was in the package. By law, that is legal. However, on Canadianvoice's point, they're right. Most consumer's are just as greedy as the companies. You should see what people try to return, under the argument that " they didn't like it". I've had customers return a TV box and when we opened it there was nothing but blankets inside. But also, we do have an issue with people suing companies for dumb shit like "emotional compensation" and other dumb shit. A great example is pizza restaurants. There are laws on how long the pizza is allowed to be on the buffet, after awhile it is considered "tainted", though usually it is actually fine. When they throw it out, they know homeless people will pull it out of the trash and eat it, but they can't give it to the homeless people directly, or they get opened up for a lawsuit if one of said homeless people sue them. So they have no choice but to throw it in the trash and leave the homeless to dig it out.

Here in the UK they have for some time now been reducing the size of products, often by as much as 50%, whilst keeping the prices or even increasing them. Some companies even lie and claim they "changed the formula and it will last as long as before" when there has been no change at all to the formula - this is especially so with cosmetics. Another common trick is to indeed change the formula and replace ingredients with cheap fillers whilst keeping the prices and companies trading on their good reputations from the past. This is being done a lot with food and beauty products. What gets to me is also the fact that everything is packaged in layers and layers of unnecessary packaging - which one is forced to pay for and yet which only gets thrown out. This just proves that nobody really cares about the environment and that this is all just bluff when companies claim to be ever so "green". Another common trick is to package things in such a way that there will inevitably be some of the product going to waste, such as these modern pump bottles which are now used for everything from shampoo to toothpaste etc - the design is such that there will be a lot of product going to waste, and companies design these bottles in such a way that they cannot be opened so that the consumer cannot possibly get to the rest of the product. All this is false advertizing! Even the last example is false advertizing as the size of the product will be advertized as, say for example 100 ml - yes there is 100 ml in the bottle but the consumer can only get to about 75 ml, the rest will go to waste due to the packaging design - so this is false advertizing! False advertizing is against the law!

It isn't false advertising though. If people weren't so fucking stupid they'd know the weight of the items listed on most of this packaging would never fill the volume space of the package itself. Take the chips for example, everyone jokes about the bag being mostly air, but that is done to prevent the bag from collapsing and crushing the contents. Or the candies, do you really expect 45 grams of malt balls to fill that giant box? No, not false advertising at all, it's printed right on there how much you are getting. People that don't understand that are the reason warning labels get put on things, wake the fuck up and use common sense.
@ZimVader-0017
@ZimVader-0017 5 лет назад
Then why not just make the packaging smaller? Allergy pills like Claritin for example, why do I need a big box with more plastic inside for one tiny pill? That's just wasteful. If you're aware that the weight of your product will not fill the box, then use a smaller box. Common sense as you say.
@heavennunya809
@heavennunya809 5 лет назад
@@ZimVader-0017 if you pay attention, a lot of their bottles are the same size, with different labels glued on. That's why. It's cheaper for them to use the same mold repeatedly than to have 3 or 4 for every size. And the plastic is anti-theft, you know how many empty or half empty bottles I find? And that isn't from the company, that's from thieves. That's why the plastic is a pain in the ass to open, you spend more time ( and noise) trying to rip it open, less likely you'll get away without being caught.

Both the boss', as well as the consumers, because you have the free will to boycott them if it's really that big a problem to you. And if enough people boycott them they change things. But you also have to understand we have the free will to choose to let them do this, and just pay attention. You know the old phrase, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. A business also has different morals as well. A business has a moral obligation to make as much money as possible, because that business feeds many people. If said business decides to not make money for your morality, people get laid off, people who paid thousands of dollars to make that business what it is don't get their return, it affects more than the supposed asshole(s) who run it.
