Why not do two smaller batches for such expensive leaves? 11 kg divided by 2 is 5.5kg, small but maybe workable? Also be curious to hear any stories you have about Hua Zhu Liang Zi
Because 5.5kg is not enough,I like to have plenty of steam to work with. Small batches are much harder to process correctly because you run out of water and have to be very conservative with the flipping. Losing a brew's worth of leaves is no big deal compared to the advantage a large batch gives.
@@farmerleaf61 Very interesting! Novice question here, but can you add water externally to a Sha Qing processing session? Like a spray bottle? Or is water external to the leaf not giving you what you need? Thank you for these videos, a better understanding of the production process really helps me enjoy the tea more
@@Mandragara I don't think adding the water externally would work, it would look more like brewed leaves. It's impossible to rehydrate the leaves in the way it was originally because the cell structure is damaged during the drying process. Imagine dipping dried fruits in water, they wouldn't look the same as undried fruits.
