Why not pitch the real only legit/useful reason for VPN's? So people can pirate movies, TV shows, games, etc via torrent in peace without their ISP spying on your unecrypted traffic and then bitching about it. Circumventing geo restrictions is bullshit, and seldom works and if it does it doesn't for long. Any streamer worth a crap (ie Netflix, Amazon, Hulu) IP bans all known VPN addresses and keeps that blacklist updated every few hours. Try to watch Amazon Prime with VPN on and see what happens (you will just get a page telling you to turn it off if you want to watch Prime videos). Everyone that isn't a noob or a computer illiterate moron should know this and not waste their money on VPN fees if they are not torrenting. Personally I prefer PIA, cheap and a whole bunch of servers (thousands).

Yeah, this is pretty pointless as-is. The most expensive movies are always going to be from the last decade because of inflation/growing global market. Also, the reasons for the costs aren't that interesting. We gave the stars a lot of money, wooooo. Not like Ben Hur, for which the cost had a lot more to do with the huge sets and the still impressive chariot sequence.
@terryarmbruster7986
@terryarmbruster7986 3 года назад
Lol like in today's money Gone With The Wind be about 100 to 150 mil but raked in more than the avenger movies combined. 3.78 billion and without tax credits huge advertising budgets actor costs etc etc. Even if adjusted for inflation unless todays huge actor staff costs deducted even Ben Hur couldn't compare simply because then studios controlled actor SALARIES. Was a few kind of rich stars but almost all had studio type contracts. Marlon Brando basically broke that mould first but not until 70s with Superman.
@StarFyreXXX
@StarFyreXXX 3 года назад
@@nintendoeats yeah but all the effects work etc for avengers, etc would still be super expensive, even if the cast salaries were lower. it would still probably be more than the sets for something like Ben Hur. James Gunn who was one of the exec producers for infinity war/endgame (he helped for some of the stuff around the guardians characters) talked about this in his facebook. basically while the cast costs were high especially cause so many ppl and the main cast had high pay, the effefcts work and the 3+ years working on thanos was the biggest chunk). adjusted for inflation, original ben hur is around $135-145 million.
@StarFyreXXX
@StarFyreXXX 3 года назад
@@terryarmbruster7986 Gone with the wind did rake in tons BUT its the same reason when they do box office analytics they dont adjust for inflation. its pointless. If you want to "decrease" the success of modern films due to higher price tickets (which is true), you have to drastically decrease ticket sales #s for older films since: A) no video games B) no internet C) no netflix etc D) no piracy etc. gone with the wind probably would be like most big budget oscar dramas which dont break the bank (titanic is an exception and then cameron did it again with Avatar!!). So the execs at AMC cinemas said the reason box office isnt done like that, there are some estimation formulae used by finance teams in the studios which adjust films up and down trying to take into account new tech, etc, but its just not worth since you may adjust something too much, too little, etc. several movie box office analyst pundits have talked about that before. and films like endgame, even though salaries are high and there's tons of ppl, the main bulk of cost is still the effects work.

Let's talk about a ghastly hidden cost of "Pirates Of The Caribbean", the total obliteration of any chance of seeing a sequel to "Master And Commander". "MAC" made a very good return for its makers, but as is explained in this video, "POTC" ran off with a positive truckload of loot. I have it on the authority of one of the "MAC" creative team that, having put unprecedented effort into making an historically faithful recreation of life and war at sea, everyone involved was so disgusted at being financially clobbered by a movie based on a theme park ride that they vowed never to make a sequel. And that, as I said above, is a ghastly hidden cost.

One of the most profitable movies, historically, was George A Romero's Night of the Living Dead from 1968. Strange to think a cheap, even at the time, black and white horror movie was so successful. Lucio Fulci's Zombi, of 1979 was similarly successful, but these profits are relative to their tiny production budgets.

The funny part is that Justice League was actually more expensive than that. There was another phase to that movie's... interesting birth, that you don't mention here. The initial pitch made in around 2014 was that Justice League was supposed to have two parts, and Snyder got to work on that, but the disappointing box office results and critical paddling session that their predecessor Batman V Superman got, lead to Warner Bros. getting cold feet and pulling the plug on the two movies concept. But Snyder had already done a lot of work on those, most of which had to be scrapped to mush them together into one movie. Plus, you didn't mention another 100-150 million for worldwide marketing, leading to JL having to reach 750 million before it could break even.

From what I know, Avatar is the most expensive film ever made at $425 million. You can't go by what the studios tell you. Also, studios may inflate budget numbers on paper to avoid shelling out profit sharing with high profile cast, directors and producers.

A video about the most expensive or intricate props or sets built would be cool. This video was kind of boring IMO, could have saved a lot of time and just said the Avengers franchise and the POTC franchises are the most expensive lol

On a year this list will probably also includr the 500 Avatar sequels, take out the Justice League one and make a list of only three Disney Franchises. (I know Avatar is Fox, but the sequels are now being paid and Produced by Disney).

400000$ costs per day isn’t that bad… it’s what a stopped production line in a small company can cost per day. At least that’s what it costs at the company I’m working for… I don’t want to know what it costs bigger companies to shut down a production line for a day or more….

CGI now a days is good enough to pass fake people off as real, so why are actors still paid $50M? Especially in movies that have a shit ton of CGI already anyway. It's not a stage play on Broadway, so just completely make up actors that don't exist in real life, far cheaper. With a good story line and decent acting (even when it's done with computers and motion capture of generic athletes and green sceens) I couldn't care less about the name of the actor or if they are even real or not.
@Thros1
@Thros1 3 года назад
Because it's expensive to do it right especially for the entire film, even if it looks good enough people will still be able to tell.
@fvckyoutubescensorshipandt2718
@fvckyoutubescensorshipandt2718 3 года назад
@@Thros1 still far cheaper than paying some meat $50M per film, esp if it's a 10-movie chain. Pay an actor half a billion or make a fake version for 1/5th that and reuse it for 10 movies = 80% savings. Pretty sure the only reason it isn't common yet (holograms of waifu cartoon characters have given live concerts in Japan for crying out loud) is while visually most can't tell the difference when done right the voice still sounds synthetic if you listen close enough, it's why voice actors are still employed. Maybe in another 10 years.
@Thros1
@Thros1 3 года назад
@@fvckyoutubescensorshipandt2718 they would still have to pay the actor for their likeness if alive so why not use the actor, the tech isn't cheap enough yet to make it the go to option.
@fvckyoutubescensorshipandt2718
@fvckyoutubescensorshipandt2718 3 года назад
@@Thros1 so don't use their likeness, but an entirely fictional one (that can probably be superior anyway).

Anybody in the know, just knows that the real costs for movie making (besides actor costs), are massively exaggerated, like 'distribution and marketing' at 100's of millions?? ... just no. Movie companies actually own the plethora of small companies that are used to make, produce and market movies, from the camera rental companies to wardrobe companies, marketing poster company ... the list is endless. These small companies bill the larger company for the actual cost, but they expound the amount 10x's to 100x's to 1000x's of times. Why? Tax write offs. Movie companies dont pay taxes, havn't for a lot of decades. The amounts 'stuff' costs is boosted massively to ensure they actually make money back on taxes. Whatever you hear movies cost, its fairly safe to multiply that by 1% ... and thats probably the real cost. Regarding expensive actors, they are in on it as well ... but these are the top end actors, not the average character actor shmoe who earn an income. The prized top dollar actors though; its not the 'actor' person who makes that amount, the actors 'company' bills that much, and also have a laundry list of deductions, so they dont pay a lot of personal tax either. The movie business is a scam, never believe the amounts, the govt knows and dont care. Think of that when you fill out your income tax form.

Cause the film can't be shot without them. So they can essentially demand as much as they want, if the studio wants to make the film, as they know overall it's going to make profit. You could call it a form of extortion, or just see it as they're indispensable and can command any salary they want given the role can't be done by anyone else and the public want to go see it as they identify that actor/ress with the role. Edit: but yes, these are exorbitant amounts we're talking about here It's like footballers. Top-tier footballers in Europe can earn around £200,000 a week. ($275,000) The average being £60,000. ($82k) It's insane and there are no regulations meanwhile, people are dying of poverty, not a mile from these stadiums
