My best friend always tells me this story of how when she was a kid and went to Hallmark for the signature Siberian husky but a lady in the area hit up EVERY hallmark in the state and bought ALL of them.
yep. straight up scalpers mostly. i could care less if the specific ones i want (literally i got all of them) become expensive af. i would literally save up enough to get them. the cheeky dog, i bought from my friend for exactly around that price range. timber wolf, i own at least 3? and they were under the $100 price range. husky, i own 3 of them and they weren’t around that price range when i bought them actually. australian shepard is literally my all time favorite and the price wasn’t around the range with being around less than $150 actually. the prices change a lot during specific seasons and all actually.
*looks at my Narwhal sitting on the shelf, tag still in-tact* college fund... For real though, great video! Kinda surprised the Signature Arctic Fox wasn't on here since those typically go for around $150-$500. It's one of the most expensive Signatures nowadays. Many of the Signature prices shot straight up once they were discontinued, even the unpopular ones. I remember when the Husky was about $40 then two weeks after Ganz said Signatures were finished, it shot up to $120. Even things like imitation Signatures aren't cheap. The reason Webkinz like the Narwhal and Sweet Spice Cat or generally any Webkinz made after 2016 are so costly is so few were made. They weren't selling well, so production was cut down, hence why they stopped making the gen 1 plushies all together in order to rethink their branding. It's a shame because while those pets weren't selling, in my opinion lots of them are really great. The Cockapoo is pretty and soft, the Pebble Horse is brilliant, it's kinda hard to find someone who either doesn't have or doesn't want a Husky Pup. I have dropped a lot of money on these plush before, I believe the most I've spent is $160 which is kind of a drop in the bucket compared to a lot of people, but I think my days of that are over.
I haven’t played Webkinz in years but a little over a week ago, I somehow got curious to see if my old account was still active, and it was. I know that I thought that I grew out of it by now, but just going back for that thirst for nostalgia is such an amazing feeling. Just getting to relive a piece of your childhood shows that we do grow up, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t still love the things we loved as kids.
as someone who spent absurd amounts of money on webkinz signatures in like 4th grade i will tell you the reason i spent so much on a timber wolf was bc of webkinz wolf pack vids
A lot of these prices have shot up since this video. The Aussie's price has definitely gone down, but the Signature Husky, Signature Arctic Fox, and others have gone up. The Chocolate Milk Cow though is by far the most expensive pet ever sold, at a whopping $3K for one without tags. A lot of the demand for them comes from the popularity of the plush, how well it's been made, and the species. Or just the fact that few have been made at all, such is the case with the Narwhal.
Outside of a specific few widely-produced plush, I can't find a single Webkinz on eBay that doesn't go for upwards of $50 CAD with shipping. All those Beanie Baby collectors back in the 90s should've invested in NWT Webkinz instead.
Considering some in game items from titles like TF2 or CSGO easily reach the thousands for a virtual item, I'm honestly not surprised, 2,500 is tame compared to some of stuff you can buy online that's 'rare'.
Such a wonderful video as always!! I personally like the Moonlight Stag the most! I really do wish they would have made physical plushes for the Moonlight animals, I would have sold my soul for them in a heartbeat
Also, psst, I made you some fanart!! I've been a fan of your work ever since I stumbled upon your Iceberg video and I thought you deserved some!! Keep up the great work!!
given, the dodo is hard to find, but the value when i got him (wilbur) is pretty much like less than $100. around less than $60, which is a major steal
i actually still have a couple of the signature pets like the siberian husky, red fox,the red wolf one they had and the polar bear but with out the tags
