Ahhh, loved this so much as a kid. I was maybe 5 years old when it aired on Nickelodeon but I did manage to rewatch it on RU-vid a few years ago.

@@vkmtvstudios That's a though one, but i think Kevin and if you put Kevin together with Stink, you have a very comical duo. I love the chemistry between those two haha. Honorable mention for Scarface, for all the nightmares he gave me back in the day. Somehow he was more terrifying to me then the t-rex from Jurassic Park😶.

Okay, but i seriously just did the whole thing you described at the beginning of the video: googled "the Nickelodeon show where the family gets sucked into an earthquake into a land of dinosaurs", found the 2009 remake, then the 1970s original, THEN this video that is an AMAZING exposé on the show that's been itching in my nostalgia for YEARS

I love that in the 70s original you see 3 sleestak at most in any shot because that's how costumes they made and somehow the revival was like, "Let's just have 3 sleestak." There were supposed to be thousands in the caves of the original show.

Oh, yeah... I vividly remember watching this show when it aired on Nickelodeon in the mid-1990s (I was born in 1990, and was thus too young to remember the show when it debuted). I especially love the theme song... PUT THAT SHIT ON SPOTIFY!

Great job on this! This show randomly popped into my head, and this is exactly what I was looking for when I typed in "land of the lost retrospective!" It's funny how absurd everything is looking at it as an adult. One thing I wonder about: it looks like this is the last acting efforts by both actors for Annie and Kevin. Wonder why, did this kill acting for them?

I remember this show. Hell, I consider the memories of 1991 to be synonymous with 3 events: my family moved to Langley in July of that year, my subsequent stay at the Children's Hospital in Vancouver where it was finally discovered my Tourette's Syndrome and the ABC Saturday Morning cartoon lineup consisting of Darkwing Duck, Pirates Of Dark Water and this. I've never forgotten this show, despite how cheesy it clearly is in retrospect. 2:30 LOL I remember that Saturday Morning preview special. Carl: " I got guacamole, clams and bean dip!"

The 1974 show was rerun on Saturday mornings in the 80s. I was born in 1974 and watched it in the 80s. Jesse Pinkman would have been about 30-ish in Breaking Bad which is set in 2008, thus he would have been born around 1978 and would have watched the reruns as a small child.

When the author of this video says the world is kind of depressing, those were my thoughts when watching the show, though for different reasons. Being trapped in some prehistoric world with a monkey man and an annoying dinosaur child with no way out just seemed terrible to me whenever I'd try to watch it as a kid. Plus, Jurassic Park was just better.

In case nobody has suggested this yet, take it from an old man: Go back and watch the original 1970s version. If you can get past the poor VFX, you'll find the stories much more entertaining, and delivering some decent science fiction plots by writers like David Gerrold, Larry Niven, Theodore Sturgeon, Ben Bova, D.C. Fontana and Norman Spinrad.
