All of these characters should be given a second chance at least to just be jobbers for other low tier character to make those low tier characters seem more of a threat
I still think True Under Dawg missed out on an opportunity for a Jax video. No longer should he be ignored and I feel like Under Dawg has the potential to do right by him. We need a Briggs video.
@@jasonblanks9224 right? He goes from having an American flag on his back for his MK9 victory pose to being a woke moron in 11. Wokeness is evil and stupid.
I believe Dairou is not a bad character! In fact they can bring him back and make him like Quake aka Daisy Johnson from Marvel (she was the main character in agents of shield)! He has the same powers as Quake so he can be useful! That disgusting Kira on the other hand is a trash that never needs to return
No imagine getting killed in a comic by scorpion in the most cringe dialogue or getting killed by the white boy Quan chi and being in two different intros
Ashrah is also a pretty good character that i’d wish they’d bring back, I think her story is really interesting and honestly if she got some tweaks she could be such a unique fighter
@@kman215 The same could be said about Frost being a bootleg sub zero and she's still amazing in her own way so... With some tweaks, Ashrah could be just as great, and she's by far the second best female character introduced in the 3d era
Kai was definitely a missed opportunity, just like Li Mei, Kai was the Earthrealm hero who was supposed to have the torch passed down. Hope he returns in some capacity
Li Mei is certainly one of my favorite characters and is highly due for a comeback. They clearly have been thinking about her by putting her in backgrounds and that big role in MKX. If they really expanded on her MKD fatality and give her a super quick pressure point striking rushdown style and even can go further and make her a contortionist because of her carnival kick move. I always compare her to women we see in classic Wuxia films like Michelle Yeoh in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon especially since we don’t have a character of that vibe right now, I even think of Ty Lee and Mai from Avatar when I think of comparisons or Neji and Hinata from Naruto. Can take her the route of young upcoming champion like she was before or the MKX route of a wise leader of her village with experience behind her. Her brief appearance in MKX actually had a lot of vharm to her they even gave her a fun dry sense of humor when it came to her basically making fun of Johnny lol. There’s also tons of weapons they could experiment with and I do believe wind and fire wheels could work amazingly on her or even smaller hidden weapons to keep a low profile protecting her village would be really neat too. I just really fell for this character growing up I always have a soft spot for the tragic character types. Plus her aesthetic in general is extremely appealing for me. It’s a shame she keeps getting completely shat on! Also people seem to forget the ONLY REASON SHE TURNT EVIL IN MK DECEPTION was because her soul was partially transferred to the soldier, Bo’ Rai Cho showed up a bit too late.
If memory serves me right, Kobra was treated as a joke even further. I believe in MKX if you pit Erron Black against Kano, Erron Black will say something along the lines of "I killed another one of your own..Kobra I think". Even in the new timeline he's a punching bag
Chameleon is my all time fighting game character because i loved his design and gameplay in mk armaggedon. BUT HE NEVER CAME BACK DUDE WHY HE WAS SO INTERESTING.
While they're not "forgotten" necessarily (too recent for that), I'd really like Ferra/Torr to return in future games. I had a blast playing as them, and hated that the last reference to them I could find was a throwaway line about finding their corpses in the Krypt.
Mokap has legitimately brilliant lore. He was the stunt actor that Midway hired to make the character animations for the Mortal Kombat games, which means he is canonically able to perform every move in the series. In Armageddon, he decided to enter the tournament himself because he basically entered and won multiple simulated tournaments.
I don't believe Li Mei was actually killed in her Deadly Alliance ending. She was rescued at the last second by Bo Rai Cho, but not before a piece of the soul of an undead statue had tainted her. That's the reason her Deception ending has her turning traitor. She was corrupted
I want Meat to return. Here’s how I see it You could have him be goofy as hell, fully embrace how odd of a character he is OR Make him scary. Emphasize the fact that he is presumably in constant agony. Truly showcase how much of a gory mess he is, one of which could only be born from the twisted thoughts of Shang Tsung. Idgaf if he’s a joke character, meat is awesome.
My words! If there are some characters, that need to come back, it’s Meat and Chameleon. They have a huge potential in the new games! (MK1) We recieved Khameleon, but it’s just not the same as Chameleon….
Well... Dairou has technically returned in MK1. But in a hidden, interesting twist-y way. --- Dairou being the new Havik is definitely interesting. Especially since one of his intros implies that *there is no Chaosrealm in this timeline.*
Uuuhm, just a little correction. Dan is indeed a parody of Ryo, but Ryo does not come from Fatal Fury. He's featured in KoF like mosr SNK characters, but Ryo comes from Art of Fighting, as well as his sister Yuri, Robert and King
Yeah alot ppl get those mixed up but to be fair SNK are always crossing over their crossings and always crossing over their crossings with other crossings and stories..........I know what I said
I'd like every failed MK character to get revamped and redeemed. Kai has a lot of potential simply because of his handstand/walk. I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned as it's pretty funny and the only thing really memorable about him. I'd love them to really lean into that. MK is best when it's silly.
Mavado, I kinda like his edgelord design. With right tools, he could be a nice new era character. Moloch and Drahmin, Why MKX didn't explored freaking Netherrealm. Onis are cool consept and they could be good sub bosses.
The Onis would have been such a good addition to MKX as opposed to having fight Goro as a sub boss EVERY time in the klassic tower, for some variety at least.
A Minor Correction: Ryo Sakazaki was the main character of "Art of Fighting", Terry Bogard was the main character of Fatal Fury. However Ryo showed up as a secret crossover character in Fatal Fury 2 Special.
Darrius, Li Mei, Shujinko, Nitara, Ashrah, Reiko, and Havik made returns with MK1, so it's highly likely other "forgotten" characters will make a come back as well. My hope is for both Chameleons to make a true and final entrance, rather than being the only 2 they cannot settle on the design and origin of.
I wrote this a while back. It was reimagining of Ashrahs story, combining her old story with some new elements making her a "religious zealot." Sorry if it's long: A demon of the Netherrealm, Ashrah found a chance at redemption when she stumbled upon a mystical sword she called the Kriss. With each slain demon, Ashrah felt the sword cleansing her soul, purifying it, and soon she was freed from the Netherrealm's grasp thanks to this sacred sword. But, in actuality, this was no holy sword. This was the infamous sword known as the "Datusha" and it craved one thing: Blood. Whoever wields the Datusha becomes entranced by it, worshipping it, and blinded to do its bidding. Ashrah was freed from the Netherrealm, not by virtue, but by corruption. The sword has manipulated Ashrah into cleansing the realms of "sin" so her soul would be purified enough to elevate her above even the heavens themselves. But "sin" comes in many forms and the sword cares not for who's blood it absorbs. Demon...or otherwise. Sadly, Ashrah is not purifying her soul as she believes, but rather securing her place in the Netherrealm with each slain innocent body. Should she meet her demise, the souls of those slain by the sword will forever torment Ashrah as she descends into a darker, more wretched plane of the Netherrealm for all eternity. And the cycle will repeat itself once more as the sword will find a new host. One that can satisfy its neverending quench for blood.
They can make so much more with Kobra. Special moves can be taken from Streetfighters Ken and his base moves and Combos an aggressive Karate style like cobra Kais karate. Make the skins better and work with the given Story and give him a New purpose
Coming back to this after M1K’s release, I find it hilarious how much of this has dated either very well or very poorly. Li Mei is back as an actual character with a real story. Darrius is at least in as a Kameo. Kai is mentioned in an intro, potentially for some manner of setup with him in the future. And your prediction about Dairou was actually very true; his name and story has been given to Havik, which means the separate character in the way he existed prior is never coming back.
Jarek was always a joke character. His face was modeled after Herman Sanchez, who was a character designer for the 3d era games including MK4. That's why he screams "IMSOGAAAAAY" in his endings. I had no idea that Li Mei was meant to replace Liu Kang. Sonya also has the Bicycle Kick.
Li Mei's kind of an interesting case with all the things that happened with her: Deadly Alliance: Yeah, she died, for maybe like half a second before Bo'Rai Cho saved her. The short contact with Onaga's army corpse sort of raised her fighting spirit and loyalty to Outworld. Deception: I'll admit, I really hated this ending too when I was younger, because I really do like Li Mei as a character. Years later...it KINDA makes sense? Again, the transfer to that corpse for like a microsecond likely instilled some loyalty in Onaga, the ruler of Outworld. MKX: Because of all the changes made to the timeline, Li Mei never gets a chance to train to fight, because it was Shujinko that trained her as the events of Deadly Alliance was happening. She basically beat up Kano, gets invited to the fake tournament, then Shujinko offers to train her to fight to enter it. Because there's no Deadly Alliance with Shang Tsung's death and transfer into Sindel, there's no enslaving of her people, and she never has a reason to ever fight. I STILL don't understand why she's basically evil in Battle of the Realms, though. Or why she's fighting in the events of MK2. Also should have mentioned her being the first casualty in Armageddon. THERE'S some disrespect.
“Dairou himself is never going to return, and you can quote me on that.” Meanwhile in MK1, Dairou is out here pretending to be Havik while nobody takes him seriously
I just want Wu Lae from MK: Armageddon to be playable, and for his Tengu clan to be added to the new timeline. He's one of the most forgotten characters, and the most forgotten ninja.
Scarlett, Sareena, Kira, Nitara are basically the same goth chick. Developers keep adding a new black and red wearing female character forgetting to refine the previous ones. You could merge all of them into one and nobody would notice.
Tbh I would like to see all these characters come back and get redemption hopefully we get to see them come back or get other characters from the 3d era to come back I personally would really like to see Ashrah,Havik,Reiko,Li mei, and sareena come back
Losers only hate Kobra because he was easy to use so their mains got defeated by a bunch of newbies choosing the Ken look-alike, I have no evidence but also no doubts. More seriously I actually think that if any character has a chance of coming back is him, this is based entirely on the fact that "Cobra Kai" is a hit so someone at Netherrealm is probably thinking that maybe they could capitalize on it by bringing him back while voiced by William Zabka.
Netherealms should bring Jarik back and capitalize on his unintentionally hilarious ending and scream. They could make him a comic relief character. An over the top clumsy, self aggrandizing, screaming guy, who you beat up during story mode and can laugh at how pathetic he is. A lot like Dan from StreetFighter. Like imagine the ending of such a guy. He somehow kills the bad guy and claims the plot device and no one believes that he did it. So he wants to use the plot device on everyone else, only to somehow stumble and die. There could even be funny interactions for when other characters talk and mention him. Something like: Johnny: “black dragon must be going through some tough times” Kano: “how so business is booming?” Johnny: “and all you could afford was Jarik?” Or Jarik: “I am here to kill your and take over the Black Dragon” Kano: “no idea who you are. New hire?” Jarik: “I’ve been here for like 15 years.”
In every video there is a sponsor. But you present the products or their content so smoothly that everytime you do it I laugh. You are so smooth TrueUnderDawg. Also I didn't know any of these characters except Hsu how and jerek.I have spelt their names wrong. Also I like how you put tremor gameplay a little at the star so that noone will say anything about tremor in the comments especially me.Awessome video keep up the good stuff.
i'd add characters like Mavado, Drahmin, Moloch, Ashrah, Hotaru and Blaze to the list of forgotten characters. The first three appeared in MKX comics in very small roles, and the latter have only tiny cameos (exceprt Ashrah, she doesn't even have that) Also Nitara is on par with Li Mei as she did appear in a similarly tiny role in 2021's MK movie to Li Mei's in MK Legends. And Sareena too as she only has cameos in MKX and MK11. Out of everyone I listed above, I don't care much about Moloch and Blaze, but I'd like to see any of the others back and Li Mei too. And honestly even Hsu Hao. I guess I am one of those people who'd like to see him back redeemed.
I wish they gave Dairou more depth. I found him to be a good character to play as, one of the stronger one's in Deception. A lot of untapped potential.
Li Mei was one of my favourite characters in Deadly Alliance and I would love to see her return in a future MK as a playable character. This video doesn't mention Ashrah, who I think is quite underappreciated, mainly for her design and her storyline. She'd be great to return as a playable character.
09:35 the game is Art of Fighting. Dan is a mix of Ryo and Robert Garcia. They are the protagonists of this series. Ryo appear in KOF and Fatal Fury, but the Dan meme is because AOF has a lot of similarities with Street Fighter.
Oh you did NOT say that about Kira! XD She has one of the coolest backstories! She was a weapon smuggler in Afghanistan who disguised herself as a man to stay hidden. When she was found out, she had to fight her way out, and was found by Kabal who recruited her! She's also the most level headed and reserved member of the Black Dragon! (She could use a nice redesign though!!!) Would like to see some of the more obscure characters back like Delia or Argus - maybe making them playable would be a cool way to explore them? :D
So I remembered almost everyone on this list even if it wasn't by official name, but I absolutely forgot about Dairou. Holy shit what a placeholder of a character
i'm actually surprised li mei didn't return as she seemed even more popular than kenshi and having her replace lui? that could have been something if they'd gone on it. as for the characters i'd most like to return? nitara and ashrah. i really enjoyed them in deadly alliance and deception. so i'd love to see them come back
Will give you credit about Ryo being an SNK character... but not from the Fatal Fury franchise but Art of Fighting (which ironically takes place in the same universe, I mean, King of Fighters games have EVERYONE from the SNK verse.)
Everybody talks about Jarek as a Kano ripoff, with even a reference to it in the Netherrealm era, but I do think he got a little bit of his own personality and feel in Armageddon. They tried, at least, with him using a lasso in his special moves. I mean, it doesn't make sense why he'd use it, with his design not being anything cowboy, but it's something. Not even Erron Black got a lasso, as far as I know. I would love Ashrah to come back, though. She's often touted as a Raiden copycat, since her moves can be analogous to his for the most part (light ball instead of electric bolt, a spinning torpedo move as well), but if they wanted to start fleshing her out move-wise, they could lean into either her light-based moves (such as creating a bright flash that stuns the opponent) or her voodoo (I mean, she has a voodoo doll in a fatality, just have her be able to pull it out and give it a stab mid-match). Mokap is another one they could possibly bring back. Heck, they could do it in the movies, and not even have to add anybody. The latest live action movie has Cole set out for Hollywood to recruit Johnny Cage, so what if in order to ingratiate himself to the actor he agrees to do some motion capture work, as he's a martial artist (no matter how bad he is at it). Sure, his power isn't much like Mokap's, but it would be an interesting way to actually tie Cole in to the MK lore in some tangible way instead of feeling like someone's fanfiction character (I mean, completely new character, related to possibly the most famous character in the franchise, replaces Johnny Cage in the story, and beats Goro instead of Liu Kang doing it? That's not something you expect in such an established franchise). At least then he'd have the memes on his side.
Kobra was just ahead of his time. Cobra Kai is popular now and I think he deserves another chance. Plus, he was actually a lot of fun to play as and had a great fighting style, and good specials. Just give him a haircut to cancel the Ken Masters comparisons.
Okay honestly I don't really care about the forgotten characters at all, I've heard enough schlock that can last a lifetime even for Jarek and Le Mei. Speaking of which I wish she would never exist especially after Liu Kang's death! If anything the honors should go to Kung Lao, the next level, the living Monk, his replacement! Or better yet he should have some of Liu Kang's combos which could be fiery ones with his!! Like have both in one fighter like the Great Kung Lao! But have it as temporary as a brutality and causing double damage as well as lasting damage from his Burns!! Anything!!
When I was a kid l, I absolutely LOVED Drahmin. Even now, I find his character, lore, and abilities very interesting. I know he has been mentioned, but I still hope for the day he becomes playable once again. However long that'll be
"If you think these fighters deserve more love leave a like below." Uhh that is not what people normally do when they disagree with a video just saying lol...
I think they all have potential but I don't think NRS will utilize all of them which is unfortunate. Mokap will never come back because he was only put in as a tribute to Carlos Pesina (the guy who portrayed Raiden in the arcade games) Hsu Hao will never return but if he's so bad, why does Kano keep getting his gimmicks ? I really want Nitara, Kai, Drahmin, Li Mei, Havik, Shujinko, Ashrah and the brothers to return. They have a lot of potential.
Is he really, though? Since he’s just Havik now? If the character looks and plays nothing like Dairou and doesn’t even use his name, can we really say Dairo is back?
@@TrueUnderDawgGaming true, but then are other characters with drastic changes to their stories or playability really "back"? Idk, I just thought what you said was funny in hindsight 😅
@TrueUnderDawgGaming would be absolutely hilarious if everyone of these characters appeared, since 4 out of the 11 shown are in the game. Though honestly Mokap is very much doable as a Johnny Cage skin.
Nitara has a large fanbase. I think NRS is afraid to add her because of her wings. If not done properly, they will act bizarrely and clip if she gets thrown, knocked down, etc So I think she is likely to return for the next game, but maybe her wings will only come out during certain attacks? That would make things easier on the devs
I think Khameleon and Chameleon should get mentions, one is actually a pretty interesting concept as a zaterran like Reptile but still pledged her allegiance to Zaterra and not Shao Kahn. Sadly there wasn't anything elaborated on her character. Then you have Chameleon who's ending in Armageddon literally reflects how forgettable he was lmao
Imagine if we Got Hsu Hao as like an older dude who Commanded the black dragon before kano and then sold out his gang to go into witness protection and retire peacefully. But then some shit happens and hes gotta fight again
When I was very little, I played as Cobra because I keep mistaking him for Ken in street fighter and I truly didn’t know how to read, I had fun with him as a child, but I don’t want him to come back if I’m truly honest
Seeing how big games have gotten I'd love to see a standalone fighter go toe to toe with smash bros for roster and cast size, and I know Mortal Kombat has the universe to do it
Also, how come nobody is talking about Drahmin? how is that Drahmin is such a forgotten character? He's a rotting corpse, with a creepy mask, naked, surrounded with flies, with a fucking iron club for a hand, who can throw flies at you and beat you up with his iron fist like an inflatable punching toy. What more awesomeness do you want???
Think it would be cool if they did a Mortal Kombat Legacy or something and its HD versions of every original kombatant, no story, just blast from the past kinda thing. Or maybe the story can be some timeline convergence i dunno
I feel that Ashrah is so full of potential; she has a very standout design and a very cool concept. Even her background is amazing. She is the one character who Netherrealm needs to bring back
That Jarek clip. 🤣 Side note: Gotta love how they will massacre popular and beloved MK characters, retconning their excellent backstories for dog water writing, what is essentially trading in your favorite food for a soup someone loogied in. Having 11,000 retcons is NOT something to be proud of. They have these absloute nobodies they won't use as fodder nor even give THEM better stories from the constant retconning. But your fave character? Oooooh better not get too attached! No, I understand why. Just saying. Funny to me at least.
Respect for Ashrah and Nitara. The idea of a demon who turned to good is an interesting concept in Mortal Kombat even if she might be a little goofy-looking, and the latter had so much disrespect it hurts. I also liked Kai's design and he had so much potential , they could have done some cool stuff with him. I'm also shocked that they didn't use Sareena more considering her rich story with the Sub-Zero brothers.
