@@lostgodling that's what I think at least, since all our weapons and such that we actually fold and unfold are either found by us or given to us after earning them, indicating we'd have a good reason to pay attention to what we have in order to keep it.
Absolver isn't done. I see things like folding and the shards as constant ingame reminders of this. A lot of things are still lost in Raslan, due to the downfall of the empire. Lore is subject to change over a games lifespan, look at Warframe. The rest is up to Sloclap. I can't wait for the first year aniversary, I expect some big announcement for the first year. I would like to know more about Jinn Meska and the Golden Bottle style, there could be some lighthearted storytelling compared to the sometimes dreadful rest. Thanks for sticking with Absolver content, I just unsubscribed to a bunch of channels which started to focus on Battle Royal BS.
The "living game" aspect to the Absolver lore is *definitely* a challenge in making content like this, since we really never know exactly what might change or be revealed in the future and thus we risk having all of our work completely discredited by no fault of our own. It's not quite like Dark Souls (which I have also spent a lot of time on forums/Reddit discussing) in which we were presented with a complete piece of work (other than cut content, of course) that allows us to find all the pieces and put them together, because we know *for a fact* that more story is going to be coming as we get content updates here, making speculation risky at best. No worries about me going Battle Royal any time soon, I'm honestly not a huge fan of the game style itself and none of the games on the market could hold my attention for longer than 20 minutes lol. Reviewing games I think merit some attention, talking about random stuff I think is cool, and digging through obscure lore is pretty much all I'm interested in!

It's one of those things where once you have all the dots connected, it's still a mystery, but if you miss a detail it can seem a lot simpler. VERY frustrating when it comes to piecing lore together (which is why I started making videos!). I hope we get a more solid answer on it soon.
One other thing I've also noticed is that in PVP we do get levels that are at night. Is this simply an arbitrary mechanic or does this also figure into the lore?
Those are technically holiday maps, added specifically for the Halloween event last year. Unfortunately, whenever anyone asks if the holiday stuff is canon, we only get vague answers that imply they are "fitted to the lore" but never confirmed one way or the other, maddeningly enough!
Technically those maps you're thinking of are holiday maps that were added as part of a Halloween event and Slo-Clap have been super vague on how much of the holiday stuff is actually canon (the best I've been able to get is a non-answer about being both lore-friendly but also not lore somehow). If they would just give me a straight answer I could have avoided adding that topic entirely! Good catch though lol
I don't think the essence being at the beginning of the game is the golden one. He is a figure that the guides respect, so it wouldn't make sense for the guides to call the ones that warship the essence being "pagans". The essence being seems to be Anlek to me.
I would be tempted to agree with you honestly (though I'n not convinced that being is itself Anlek, I also don't believe it's the Golden One myself), but it's one of the popular theories out there so I thought it was worth mentioning. Good catch though, that's something a lot of people don't notice right away!
Are they dead?.... or just lost we know in the coming dlc that we would be fighting a sort of mindless/mind controlled mass of enamies located beneath the tower of adal where that characters seems to have been hurled
Actually, the Essence Mines aren't located under the Tower of Adal, it's actually a distance away (you can look directly up in the related 3v3 map to see the sky, there's no tower or any other building visible). A lot of people mistake the Essence Reserves (the first area we see when we enter the Tower of Adal for the firts time) for the mines, but those are different places even though they *may* be located close to each other. It's hard to say. Personally, I suspect that the large doorway at the ground floor of the Essence Reserves is probably blocking the road the originally ran directly to the Mines so the workers could deposit the exhumed Essence there more efficiently. The artbook also shows a scene of the Downfall as it started, and it shows an explosion in the distance rather than in the center of the city itself, as another clue to it's location.
True but the game doesnt specifically say the essence mines its states "Arcell is spreading Gleam deep down in the Adalian mines," so I could be a totally separate cave system
Nathan Chapman The developers themselves *and* just the context makes it pretty clear that they're referring to the Essence Mines, as those are literally what the entire Adalian Empire was built around. Even more, it's stated that there are Lost Prospects down there as well, whom are *only* found within Raslan itself and are stated to be drawn toward the the Essence Mines in their madness. The dungeon portions of the DLC are directly tied to the Essence Mines, simple fact that even the developers have stated.
I guess I havent seen where they have specifically stated that I just love to speculate it's the dark souls player in me. Could you like the source of those statements so I could read them and learn more of what I can. Along with that how do you feel about the new fighting style. any worries that is might be over powered and or just a copy stance of windfall or stagger?
Nathan Chapman Most of the discussion with the developers has been through the Discord, so I don't exactly have the means to link to those particular discussions but even beyond that, all of the other context makes it very explicit that the Adal was known primarily for mining Essence and using it to create anything else they needed (one trait of Essence is that it's substance and hardness can be changed with the right chants, as stated in the Official Art Book) and thus, the "Adalian mines" are referring to the only widely known mines in Adal - the Essence mines. What's more, the 3v3 map referred to as "Essence Mines" is identical in appearance to the artwork/scenes shown for the new DLC, and both show large veins of Essence along the rocky walls. As to the new style (Faejin) I can't really make any judgements for sure until I see it in action, but from what I hear it's a much more complicated style to use than the previous 4, with each stance altering the way you defensive ability functions in relation to the attack of your enemy... which sounds like it could be a high-risk-high-reward kind of style, though I'm concerned it'll either be bugged and broken or just way too powerful in the right hands. With the semi-bugged state of Windfall, I can easily see the new style making my favorite style redundant if it's any good.

I never really noticed all of this or thought about it that way. I thought this game was called absolver to solve abs. Like making abs as in becoming stronger. And I thought they wore mask because to hide identity or something. XD but it has more to it, and I like it. Tha KS for sharing it. I like this mysterious game even more now
You should probably re-watch those scenes: They actually refer to *never* needing the Masks to revive, as - according to the developers - Tearans have developed their own connection to the Fold independent of the Guides. Basically, Tearan channelists (the term for people who specialize in using Essence) have their own way to revive people that doesn't require you to lose your memories or be under the command of another person.
I wish more people watched this stuff... It would probably increase the player base...I'm just depressed that this game just isn't getting the attention it deserves.
It really is a shame how short of a time Slo-Clap actually supported Absolver, but there was a lot of problems behind the scenes and in the community so here we are.

Not at all, though some people like that theory. If you care to point out how this is *confirmed* without at all being contradicted by anything else in the game (like, say, the developer's own comments, the artbook that gives explicit details on the timeline around the creation of Absolvers and the rest of the world, the presence of people who explicitly state they've come from elsewhere and aren't wearing masks, or how it's shown that teleportation of sorts is possible through Essence use at both the end of the game and every time we revive at an alter) I'd definitely be interested in seeing it. Overwhelming evidence refuting that theory would speak otherwise. It's an interesting idea to consider, but it's functionally useless as a storytelling device unless you're intending to end your story with a stoner-esque "IS REALITY EVEN REAL BRO?!" moment, and literally no part of this game even references that theme.
lostgodling I see how it's not obvious now, or even probable thinking more about it. The super popular story explained video everyone has seen I think nails it pretty well. The part I was confused by is when the character first puts on the mask they are instantly transported to a different place wearing new clothes. The character looks down at their hands in response to this. It really did seem like a virtual reality. I thought maybe the people without masks were just NPCs in the game lore lol. The last boss in particular does raise a few questions about it though. It seemed obvious she killed the character in the cutscene from the cinematography and whatnot. I thought maybe it was a matrix like thing, where disconnecting would kill you in real life. I still think there is some merit to the theory, but it makes a lot more sense that the games universe is is just unique, and the initial sequence was just more of a stylized time jump making it seem like a matrix like story short-term. After diving deeper I think your right, there are to many contradictions and not enough evidence for it. I think the main flaw is when you are teleported to the place in the starting cutscene to get the cloak. Seems like the same reality as when you put the mask on. Teleportation is the obvious answer.
A true shame, especially since the fault for the game's lack of success and subsequent death lays at the feet of the developers. They basically made every single misstep they could along the way. A real and honest shame.
I certainly hope so, at the very least I'm hoping to learn more about how the Fold works or even what exactly it is (rather than just running on my pet theory that *seems* to be confirmed by patch notes but I want to wait to be sure) so I can finally make a video about it!
One thing that i wonder... If you could fold and unfold such object like sword and warglove how about bo staff and spear or warhammer? I mean they did mention that weapon on the trailer before right? Is there a limit to how big or much stuff you can fold?
So far as we've been shown, the 'upper limit' for what physical items can be stored within the Fold and un-Folded back into reality is a rather large-scale person in heavy armor, and even then the item itself isn't really 'stored' inside the Fold so much as converted into the raw energy that makes up that dimension itself and then re-created out of Essence when 'pulled' back out by someone. The total number of individual items stored this way appears to be without limit. As to staff/spear/hammer possibilities, Slo-Clap had originally implied *very* heavily that new weapons (including staffs) would eventually make it into the game, even going so far as to actually complete most of the modelling/animation for staves, but eventually just gave up (which is pretty much the story of the entire game, honestly).
There actually WAS supposed to be staff weapons and staves in the game and yes, it was basically cut early after release when they realized they couldn't get the animations to work without serious clipping problems.
Honestly I saw it as the absolvers can live forever as risryn has been mentioned before as dead but came back and when she disappears she doesn't seem to die like the other characters and she says you have been chosen correctly or something, and from all the dialogue in the downfall dlc it seems to be that everyone you fight against has been corrupted by a god who wants to bring the reality in between together with the rrality that exists and all of the ruins are from doing so xausing some people to turn to stone and all of the essence left over is now corrupting new absolvers due in part to the god channeling his power through it and this basically leads to the games story
Well, that is... certainly an interpretation, but the vast majority of what you've concluded is directly contradicted by other in-game (and, in a couple of cases, out-of-game, such as the art book) content. If you're curious about it, you should watch through all of my other Absolver videos, as everything in this video was eventually answered (other than the exact nature of the non-Guide-empowered resurrection used by the tribe Cargal and Kilnor come from, but there are some implications hidden in flavor text that hints at a possible answer) and has been addressed in my other uploads.
Maybe you can only remove your Mask if you have the willpower to do so. As we know, the Lost Prospects couldn't bear the burden of immortality, to the point where it drove them insane. Perhaps that's why they can't remove their Mask - because they lack the mental strength. Risryn on the other hand is very wise. She once trained Prospects and now she kills them, showing that she's been on both sides and probably has valid reasons for her betrayal to the Guides. Knowing that the Guides send Prospects to kill Risryn suggests that she might embrace her immortality to protect herself from death. Therefore, she's granted the ability to remove Masks because she is deemed worthy.
I would love a souls like absolver game Keep deck building Update how moves are learnt Linear/semi Linear world-think ds1 Quality of life update: fast-travel More focus on pve More bosses NG+ And have pvp as an optional arena based combat I do like world encounters though so having that still be there in some way - invasions? I really like sifu but absover is still my favorite due to its lore, interesting world, deck building, player interaction, and customization options.
dude i have a question, i got my school reward but pressed circle by accident. do i still get the rewards even though i actually accidentally declined the rewards?
so right off, you should know that the school mechanics have pretty much always been a little buggy with weird issues the developers never seemed to patch out, but as far as I can remember you should still have access to the school reward in your inventory even if you 'declined' the rewards when it popped up on screen. however, in the event you don't see the reward anywhere, the only workaround I know about is leaving and then rejoining the school, forcing you to re-earn your rank but also letting you earn the rewards again too. sorry I can't help more!
lostgodling ok thanks, i just checked and now i can’t get it, it’s bc the season was gonna end soon then i made a school. then i waited till the rewards came in bc i was first and just started that school. but yeah i have to wait next season. thanks for trying. when i declined it, i was on my other account then i pressed circle by accident bc i went to see the timer of the season ending. but after that i went to go login in my other account so i can get the other rewards but it didn’t let me. after that i regret everything because i just missed out on 10,000 fragments and 10 rift disks! i really got mad at myself because i know it takes months to get that much stuff. anyways sorry for wasting your time. if anything i just have to play the patient game bc the season takes for ever to start again.
owch that's rough to hear, sorry to leave you high and dry like that. back before we had the rift coin things i spent like 40 hours farming a single mask, only to completely screw up and do what you basically did and immediately refuse the drop when I got too excited seeing my prize. i basically just gave up and spent the rest of the day using a calbot deck for self-punishment.
Risryn tells us towards the end that “we will do great things together” And makes it sound like she will fight back against the guides Then after this they released a bunch of armor sets for “mountain warriors” Conclusion? Ffs come back and make a snow area for absolver man, you already have the tower where the guides live, just do man please come back devs....
There was a LOT of speculation and expectation that the studio planned on releasing content/maps that expand on the area around Towerpoint. A shame that they basically already knew that they had no intention of keeping the game alive even when they released their first (and last) paid DLC, so all the players got was some snow-themed gear and a snow effect on some maps for a couple of months or so.
The developers made a statement about a year ago informing us all that they would not be returning to work on Absolver, but that a single employee would be working on balance while the rest of them work on new projects (explicitly stated as having nothing to do with Absolver). Two balance patches released after a few months, then they stopped entirely. I'm so, so sorry to be the bearer of bad news my friend. Truly one of the most interesting and unique games I've played in over a decade.
Simply put, the Tearan people developed their own unique connection to the Fold, completely independent of Adalian or Guide influence. The secrets they managed to figure out on their own, in secret, showed them rituals which can allow their people to revive in a similar manner as Absolvers without the need for an enchanted mask. Oh man, I really *REALLY* hate being the bearer of bad news, but as of the official Q&A with Slo-Clap they decided that they weren't implementing the bo-staff weapons at all. There was some animations finished for the weapons and some base models completed, but apparently they could neither balance them correctly nor make the animations look natural enough to function in-game. It's disappointing and many of us have told the studio to remove the weapon from advertising *months* ago, but they continue to ignore us. Personally it feels misleading as hell, but most of the community seems to think I'm a jerk for saying so.

I wonder what happens to people you fold do they see what we see when we get folded we see a world of some kind what do they see the same thing or something different and also on that world the fold it changes (now that may just be so people don't get bored in downfall) but if it does for ever change then how would people that get folded see that world who heals their wounds and sends them back the floating man like thing the thing we see when we enter downfall or some other powerful force could be their mask itself?
The duo that you fight have their masks removed and state that they don't need it to live. You completely left that out, or maybe you didn't get that far.
Those two - often mistakenly referred to as The Twins even though they aren't ever stated to be twins, only siblings - aren't Absolvers or Prospects and aren't related to the subject at all, they're a different tribe of people who outright state that they have secret Essence rituals that were never even known to the Adalian Empire (who built their entire empire on Essence use). They've never undertaken the Mask Ritual, and thus aren't relevant to the subject of how the Masks work (which was the specific topic).

Well, there's currently a large update that has already been announced (with more info coming within the next couple of weeks) that will include an entirely new combat style, not to mention a co-op/repeatable PvE dungeon for us to explore, both of which should supply at least *some* further details on the world.
Most - if not all, can't say since some may exist I haven't seen - are often wildly inaccurate and are almost entirely guesswork. The most watched three have sections that are made up whole-cloth and have since been outright contradicted by the artbook, in-game dialogue (which they conveniently missed and/or didn't include it in the video), and the developers themselves. There's a reason I make these one subject at a time, because there's far too many speculation-and-complete-whole-cloth-fabrication passing as actual answers to questions people have in this game.

That video is outright wrong throughout most of it, it's been thoroughly torn apart in the official lore discussion forums and Discord channel. The person who made it clearly never read the artbook, missed entire pieces of conversation, and frequently makes entire portions of it up.
MANIA because after all it's a fun game, helping New players especially on ps4 rn, learning New moves, if you got all then you can make perfect Decks stuff like that also collect all outfits
