I believe that Isaac Newton wanted to call his new theories about gravity "Crazy Math," however the board of directors and the publicity department decided that Newtonian Physics was catchier. Poor Isaac went to his grave feeling that people were going to get his mathematical theories confused with cookies. And that's exactly what happened. I, like you, prefer the term "Crazy Math." Look at those sliders shots and amazing lighting! I love the X-acto knife control - no cut fingers, why? Because you're a pro! I have never seen a 3.5 inch GI Joe look so GINORMOUS! Great video, Crafsman! p.s. I'm reminding you to talk about macro. : /

I got into minis about 3 years ago now and honestly I'd highly recommend it. I've tried to cast copies of swords and helmets that I really liked but I've never had any luck with it. There are others who have though. It's definitely possible And here are some lessons I've learned: Don't worry about mistakes when assembling, you can always hide them later with creative painting. Paint and assemble minis you like instead of ones you need for a list. Paint them in a scheme you enjoy. Nothing is worse than painting 40 dudes in a scheme that bores you to tears.

@@turnt_barbarian The lack of knowledge and price of the minis is really what's stopping me. I have always been afraid of messing them up. No painting skills and assembling required has always sidelined me, but I'm more about "what I like" than "what I need" because I don't play the games. Not by choice, but by living where nobody plays. LOL Thank you very much for commenting & the suggestions.

Thank you all here for watching and taking time to comment! :D Jay, that's a good question! My mind often thinks "how would I make a mold of this?" :D These would be fairly TRICKY, for sure, given the small size. Venting and pressure casting is likely essential to success here, because bubbles in those little points (like the tip of a knife blade) would present a challenge. Still, definitely possible.

I get people into these games by asking them if they played with army men or action figures as kids. I get them talking about those memories then I plant the seed.."you know there is a way for you to have that joy again as an adult" Going the other way explaining wargaming, they will be confused until they say, "oh, it's dungeons and Dragons". Then you need 20 minutes explaining why they are wrong...obviously this is a bad tactic... Hint crafman: tiny magnets make the arms replaceable and posable..

I really like the idea behind the plastic solvents that create more of a fused connection. That's probably the best way to go as far as integrity. The fact that a box of platic spue minis is considered cheap at 9 dollars is a sign of how obnoxious the pricing is by games workshop. My only concern with these minis is all these flat joints to connect pieces, that's not a good way to do it. You could use the fusey stuff, also can get a little pin drill and a small piece of paper clip too. Also the bases are a little small and plain but oh well.
@TheCrafsMan

You worded very well what I think! Taken as it is, with no knowledge of W40K, I would think that was way too much money for miniatures on a sprue. So absolutely, them being considered cheap is definitely relative to what I'm used to seeing. I feel they could all be much cheaper.

@TheCrafsman, as a videographer/animation maker and also fighting against depression myself I cannot stress enough how much I have been inspired by your channel ever since I discovered it a mere 3 days ago. I have been gorging on your vids every free moment these last few days. The persona, the voice, the production value, the openness, working together with Crafson, and evidently the expertise that obviously came from experimenting... I am hooked! ... But I hope I can probe your knowledge and creativity with a question... I took some time off work and am currently studying mixed media in art school. I would love to create some enlarged plastic fruit (scale 3:1 or 4:1) for a project but I have no idea how to do this. Is it possible to create a mould in 2 halves, "paint in" the plastic and glue the halves together? Is there a way to create a hollow mould somehow? Am I overlooking an obvious solution? I am willing to experiment (and to fail and try again) but I would love some input from the wisest sock-puppet I know... Thanks in advance! Best wishes to the whole Crafsfamily and happy holidays PS, for anyone else in the comments, feel free to offer your ideas on how to create hollow plastic fruits as well, thanks!

Thank you for making these fantastic entertaining, informative videos and thank you for being you! You ALWAYS warm my heart and have helped me through some very tough times. Wow! These figures look 'WAY more sturdy by nature than the Stickfas figures...Wonder what kind of plastic they used??

Crafsman I picture you taking one or several of them and making them bigger. Like make mold, and do the whole process of making the mold bigger and casting the figurines bigger.

Oh wow, when I clicked the video I wasn’t expecting it to be one of yours as you don’t generally do minis. I’ve been aware of the SG minis for a while now but never pulled the trigger and I think this has decided me, I wasn’t aware of the sheer number of figures you actually get out of the box, that’s incredible for the cost.

Stargrave/Frostgrave and Wargames Atlantic are fantastic producers of affordable plastic soldiers Now can those leftover sprues be used in your plastic injection machine?

CrafsMan! I just bought the crew and mercenaries pack at my local game store. I'm out of my element too, so as soon as I got home I looked up stargrave miniatures on RU-vid-and there you were! Steady craftin! Looking forward to putting these together for a solo game call Five Parsecs from Home.

8.90!!! Tell me you know about the neodymium magnets and installing them in the connect points between all the arms and gear?!!? Then you don't have to commit to what a soldier has, you can pop them off and change out infinitely!! Alright love you hope all is well.

I watch a LOT of wargaming videos and that is the sexiest I've ever seen sprues look. If you like kit bashing checkout Perry Miniatures and a little ruleset/ style called Sludge :)

I just ordered the new females' sprues from NorthStar, these minis are a real blessing for converting or outright scratchbuild your customized figure, my only complaint is the lack of separate weapons from the arms, I hope that they'll do a support weapons sprue.

Huh, I had no idea that you were interested in minis. Even intend to cover Warhammer 40K stuff? P.S. Those kits really remind me of the old stuff GW made.

Glad you found these models, Stargrave has great models especially for the cost and is a fun system to play as well. One tip though, you can also uses small neodymium magnets on the heads, arms, weapons, and/or torsos, to swap them around. This is a great way to get more value out of your figures, keep having fun coming up with fun combinations, and if/when you play Stargrave or other game systems, your not stuck with a model that doesn't adhere to the WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) issue with points or the rules. Good stuff as always!

Hey crafsman I hope you see this if you do I just want you to know i just enrolled into a very intense education academy(I’m 14, almost 15) and I’ve just been studying all day. Even on Saturday I have school and on Sunday I’m so exhausted I can’t do any hobby related thing, but seeing this video you helped me realize I not only have to make time but also keep these creative things in mind(maybe write them down) so when I finish this year(it’s a one year program) I won’t forget all about my hobbies and I’ll be a creative, chill, and all around nice person just like you rather than forgetting them and continuing to be depressed. in your youth, your field of work was different than your passion but you remembered and kept it in your heart and today you can follow your dreams. Thank you. I really look up to you.

Mr. Crafsman, bring me a dream 🙏 I would love to see you create The Marvelous Toy. You know, the one from the song. "It went zip when it moved, bop when it stopped, and whirr when it stood still. I never knew just what it was and I guess I never will." 🎶
