Ya thats true when i look for dramas if they have tragedy as one of their genres i would already think nope never going to watch that and now i watch spoilers just to make sure there isnt a bad ending i started watching spoilers ever since i became aware some dramas have really sad parts that i hate and two of the dramas in this vid were ones i watched
Scarlet heart Ryeo has the most saddest, annoying and heart breaking ending: •From brothers to enemies bc of of power •Brother killing siblings •Baekhyun and Zhera’s ending was just the heart breaking, just when baekhyun finally fell in love with her, making it not one sided, they got killed by Baekhyuns brother •IU died leaving Lee jun ki by himself (like legit) •Everyone left Lee Jun ki •nam joo Hyuk and Seohyuns love story was also sad bc seohyun killed herself •No couple got together •IU woke up from her “dream” at the end and realised she left Lee jun ki and cried
Kaibaekxing EXO Bias Awwwww the part you said that no couple got together, which is true! 😭 it makes me think that it's hard to love during those times. Love in those times is sacrificial.
this is so true, this was the saddest ending ever ...wang so was alone at the end,all the couples were destroyed, tenth prince and wife died, the list is endless, its 2018 i still cant get over this drama
I was drowning in my own tears watching the ending of Uncontrollably Fond then we found out Kim Woo Bin had cancer the memories of that ending hit me and i was bawwwlllin
that makes that movie even more eerie - like did he already have cancer when he made that movie that made he acting through the roof. I sincerely hope his cancer goes into full remission
O_OsoPanda i mean they're played. Like... why putting a painful scene in a drama that's real.. he's just an incredible actor & maybe he knew he already had cancer back then so that's why he played his role in uncontrollably find so well
Why W's ending weird? It was the father's undonditional love for his daughter and to make her happy that he decided to sacrifice his life. A true hero Dad.
True. Not just that ...even in the drama Kang Chul says that the webtoon was not completely Mr.Oh's creation...rather it was a different world with countless lives just like in the real world....and that the webtoon was just a portal to Kang Chul's world..meaning Kang Chul has a life of his own. And hence he is not a petty character for which Eun Joo's father died.....This is my understanding💁
Scarlet heart Ryeo left permanent scars on my heart lol it was the most painful show I've ever watched. But its still in my faves list. Worth the heart wrenching tears for sure
Daylon LaCroix it tore mine to shreds - do yourself a massive favour watch Bu Bu Jing Xin for closure- it the Chinese version's part 2. M-o-n-t-h-s after watching it i discovered BBJX and even now when i think of Scarlet Heart i just go str8 to BBJX to heal. I just wish they could find it profitable to make a Korean part 2
It was the first kdrama i watched and I didn't know it was possible crying that much in front of a serie, at the beginning you think everything's gonna be fine then at some point it becomes worse every episode
For me Scarlet Heart Ryeo is one of the best kdramas of all time. I shed tons of tears when I watched this drama. The overall production, OST, and actors are all great! I will never forget this and I am still hoping for season two in the modern era with the same set of actors.
You're absolutely correct! There are bunch of beautiful Asian Dramas but Scarlet Heart Ryeo is one of a kind. This is my second favorite drama after Meteor Garden :)
Webcomic Lulu he’s in remission, fully recovered?🤨 I doubt it. He looks ok for the time being but I don’t think that the doctors killed every cancer cell in his body. Billions and billions of $$$$$ have been poured into the cancer foundation around the world for decades and decades to find cure for cancer and yet people are still dying everyday from it 🙄😡😡😡
For me it was "Uncontrollably Fond". I wasn't able to see the last episode in one go, though i did in chunks... as my eyes were like salty ocean which made every scene so blurred. I think i would never dare it to re-watch the last episode again, however hard i might try. On top of that, i could not help to think if Kim Woo Bin find it before or after or during the shoot of the drama that he has cancer. It breaks my heart even the thought makes me hell sad. Hope he will get well really soon
Money flower, an amazing drama with a killer script...ruined itself with the ending. From ep 1 one of the main draws besides revenge, was the love between the main characters - he loves her so much but for revenge decides to make her fall in love with someone else. And once all it in the open, the reason they don't get together because she feels their will always be distance between his heart and her....R U FUCKING KIDDING ME?! What a dumb ass way to end it! At least if they got together and then someone died their would be some conclusion...also it's not even clear if he even lives at the end (stupid stabbing roof scene - there is no indication that he lived either) which makes it the WORST WASTE OF TIME DRAMA EVER! Literally, it was an AMAZING drama before the ending - what a piece of shit ending man, ruined the entire show!
Ok now lemme just say I didn't dislike the ending of "uncontrollably fond " it was realistic . Idk why people are always after happy endings even if they seem pretty unrealistic with the circumstances in the drama
Uncontrollably fond is an excellent drama. Even tho it has a sad ending, y'all should definitely give it a try. I've always adored woobin after watching him perform in the heirs. Uncontrollably fond hits different. It shows us the harsh reality of life. Not all stories have a happy ending but sometimes you've just got to accept your fate and make use of every moment. Make memories. And that's what I loved about it. The acting, storyline, chemistry everything is spot on. Hate how he got diagnosed with the same disease in real life as well. But luckily he's all good and healthy. Love you woobin♥️
I might be alone in this. But i really liked the ending of Scarlet Heart. It wasn't a typical 'everyone wins' happy ending. Instead it went a more realistic and in my opinion a more creative route. The emotions expressed by the actors were spot on. I bawled.
Perhaps if you looked a little deeper, you would be able to see that the writers decided not to simply satisfy readers and actually provide a realistic and suitable ending for characters in such an environment.
Yes, it was way more realistic. And the end was not 100% sad since Hae Soo achieved to keep him from killing his whole family by loving him. I think it's definitely one of my fav endings, even tho I cried an ocean after it ;-;
Tbh, the ending of scarlet heart ryeo was okay for me, It's not happy but atleast the main girl character survived and Wang so remain a good person at the end. Not all story has happy ending though, but as a viewer I must say I'm contented.
Uncontrollably Fond just made a scar in my heart, it's the only drama where I can't stop crying in front of my mother for the last few episode not just the last, and I'm a guy.
Yeah.... I'm heartbroken after watching that one too... I'm surprised why that drama isn't on the list.... and was searching madly if anyone had a left a comment regarding that... and found u
Scarlet Heart was AMAZING!!! The cast, the plot, the chemistry, the production, ost, everything!!!! Except that the ending was TRAGIC, not bad, but just sad, VERY SAD. I'll become old waiting for season 2!!!!
Actually I loved how Scarlet Heart Ryeo ended. It was really realistic and the drama doesn't have to have a happy ending to be a good drama. It was most of the heartbreaking stories in kdramas, but it was sooo good :)
Blue Lioness It's because many didn't understand the ending. The point of a story is to have conflict and then resolve it. There is a reason "and they all lived happily ever after" is an accetable ending. Because once the hardship has ended the rest can seem boring. W pointed this out. As long as there is something to fight then the hero can continue. By killing the villian, the hero/heroine no longer have someone to fight and so ends the story.
Uncontrollably Fond was a true heartbreaker! It's very realistic and impactful. Although it may not have better ratings than expected, it surely is a must-watch. A drama you'll never regret, trust me.
I think the most disappointing kdrama ending for me was "Who are you-school 2015"i didnt like how Eun bi ended up with the 1st lead i feel the 2nd lead was just tossed aside and i feel the love was surreal.Han yi an loved the other twin Eun byul but then all of a sudden he liked the other twin?i was so mad at this ending.Don't get me wrong they looked cute together but i wished the other guy got the girl.
Omg same. It would have been better if she ended up with the 2nd lead. It just feels like the main lead only liked her for her looks whereas the 2nd lead hated eun byul but loved eun bi. -_____-
Sulma ibarra then make sure you dont watch 'You are Beautiful' because in that drama also the second lead deserved the woman way more - i think thats maybe why they made Heartstrings - to satisfy the fans
Rice Days i agree tae kwang the 2nd lead actually understanded and accepted Eun bi but hated Eun byul.He actually did everything in his power to make her feel better when she was sad whereas the first lead didnt really know what was happening
like everyone who watched MOON LOVERS i believe that i've never shed that amount of tears. i cried until i started thinking that my tear glands must be broken. it was a great drama but i really hoped for a happy ending. now that i'm done watching it i really feel empty like i lost a big part of me ...
Bad guy, Empress Ki, Scarlet heart Ryeo and Uncontrollably found hast the most heart breaking ending for me. Bad guy is the hardest one though T.T it left deep scar on my heart.
Everyone loves Scrlet Heart except Koreans. It was a big hit internationally but it flopped locally and idk why. For me, it's one of the best drama that I saw. The emotions it made me feel is just too much and I will never forget how much it moved me. Still waiting for season 2 after all these years.
Ya it's my favorite kdrama too but I don't want a s2 coz that won't be as impactful as s1 was. I believe deep in my heart that iu met everyone in future leading a happy life. Ofcouse in a reborn way.
Scarlet heart was a very sad ending, I shed many 😭 tears. I don’t understand why ppl where disappointed by it, after all IU was from the future - she had to go back. Scarlet heart was my first K drama and it was so exceptional that I have been hooked ever since.
*Autumn in my heart, Stairway to heaven, Tree of Heaven!* These are classics that breaks my heart so so much OMG ! P.S: Scarlet Heart Ryo is really one of the best drama ever 👌🏽
Uncontrollably fond, Remember and W. I've watched this three and the most dissappointing drama to me is Uncontrollably fond! W isn't kinda dissappointing because they ended up together. Remember is kinda sad and dissappointing but i actually liked the ending.
We still can't get over scarlet hearts ryeo.. I wish that the handkerchief part was true n they strt filming the new season. But recently the queen for seven days also had a terrible ending. after all that they went thru I thought they'll end together but they didn't .😫😫
La luna I'll try to watch it.. but since I feel more acquainted with the cast of the Korean version I wish to see the season 2 of the Korean version too.
Its true..dont know if they started filming season 2 or anything but Lee Joon Gi posted a video on his instagram celebrating the first anniversary of Moon Lovers and the handkerchief scene was in it so you should totally go check it
Uncontrollably fond made me cry so much like a baby and can’t sleep for a day. Don’t think I can re-watch the drama again. The last episode with the mom’s crying scene made me bawled, left a deep impact in my heart. 😭
As for me i had 2 different feelings for one drama, SCARLET HEART RYEO. This was the best kdrama i have ever watched. I really fell in love with the drama cast etc... Because of this drama also IU became my favorite actress and Lee jun ki favorite actor. I just love it! But sadly the end was heartbroking i still hoping for some movie remake or second season... I just can't let go...
Scarlet Heart has completely shred my heart into pieces and left permanent marks on it. I don’t think I can ever get over Scarlet Heart Ryeo and it has been 3 years now 😭😭😭 I’ve rewatched scarlet heart 10 times already and I cry every single time. This kdrama has seriously raised my expectations too high to the point that I can’t even watch kdramas the same way ever again.. Trust me when I say you’ll never get over this kdrama, I’m not exaggerating, it’s the truth. I recommend most kdrama fans to prepare themselves mentally before watching this show, I experienced emotions I never even knew I had. You’ll be in misery for weeks.
Yeah I think 49 days definitely should have been included on this list. It is the most heartbreaking kdrama I have ever watched in my life. Honest. It was also one of the first dramas I ever watched, back when I was 10. I cried a lot.
Rooftop prince anyone??? 😭😭 for me that is the saddest drama ending ive ever watch, i cry so much at thier wedding part when yoochun disappeared (not disappointed with the ending though) and their ost always makes me cry 😭😭😭
I'm sorry I love you is the best. because... So Ji Sub's incredible performance. This's the part that catapulted him into stardrom in South Korea. You can feel every emotion Moo- Hyuk feels. You can see his every thought. So Ji Sub's performance is so nuanced, he uses his face, voice, and even his body to act and emote. It's a difficult performance for anyone to do like that. He became an actor that everyone is accepting of his ability.
49 Days had the worst/saddest ending of any kdrama I've watched. I really felt I had wasted my time watching it and that the whole story and everything the main character did ended up being for nothing.
Trinity Lane tbh I don't mind that part. It's the part where yi kyung actually turns out to be the couple's long lost daughter which annoyed the crap out of me.
Spoiler Warning: I actually loved the ending it felt realistic and helped out the message of the drama I don't think you will ever be able to gain your life back but the reapers don't know that since no one has ever succeeded before. Instead she was given time to insure that she can leave without regrets and that there are people left that will make sure she lives on even if she is gone I thought it was beautiful tbh but than I'm a sucker for anything psychological and philosophical so It's still my favorite.
Rosie You what's makes me annoyed the most is that yi kyung does not know that. as what i remembered, the sister and her family only know it after yi kyung left right? yi kung left with her quest unanswered on why did the last tears come from that woman. i mean she should at least know about her family before leaving!!
Yeah, I didn't really mind that the girl ended up dying anyways, either. And it wasn't completely pointless; she and everyone else found out about her fiancee and friend. If the "plot twist" hadn't been included, the drama would have been one of my absolute favorites.
I literally cried for a week because of Uncontrollably Fond. I've never been so heart broken by a Kdrama or any show at that. Sad that it actually came true.
I thought the show was a kdrama so you know I was like "oh there's going to be a happy ending, it's going to be a kdrama miracle and he's going to live." I can't explain how shook I was when he died
I cried for two weeks because of Uncontrollably Fond. And when I learned later of Woo Bin's illness, I cried some more. I'm glad it's 2021 now and he's fine and up and about.
sonali verma Yeah, Empress Ki 😢 After all that drama and sacrifices, the female lead only got the 'power' but not the 'love'. Guess that's what you got if love is surrounded with schemes and lies. 😭
sonali verma yeah I cried so much although he was very selfish and childish it was sad he died and he killed the king she loved. Although in history she spent money like it was all hers and the king she was in love with was a rapist and murderer.
Valerie Walker Yeah, well its very realistic... i kinda like these types of endings because not everything ends with happily. first; she loved both of them second; he had to kill the king to protect her. third; the king also agreed to die after hearing the news fourth; the frick fracking series could've ended in 40 episodes if it wasnt for Empress Dowager smh fifth; Someone did taltal injustice when cutting his bangs and killing him sixth; the writer reminds me of Steven Moffat
I really hated his character in Empress Ki deeply, as much as I love Ji Chang Wook. I shed a lot of tears when the king died. I was so angry at that. And I loved Tal Tal. So sad.
crazyjenny42 but l love emperor character ......the only thing he want is love ......,and as for the king in the whole drama his character is played like a sacrificial god but in real life life he loves to rape and kill women.............,crazyjenny 42 this is just my opinion don't take this seriously.
Uncontrollably Fond was such a beautiful Film. The end was so sad that I thought Kim Woo Bin really died. Because of this film, he has become one of my favorite actor❤️
I never cried so much like in the end of „memories of the Alhambra“ goshhhhh I died. *legit crying the full last two episodes* Hope there will be a second season due it’s a new drama... Bc the last scene confused me like hell
I'm surprised that W is on this list as it was a perfectly fine ending for me... and does anyone else see ji chang wook pop up at around 14:15? :-D Why?
Tru, i REALLY AND ABSOLUTELY LOVED the drama and became obsessed with it. The ending was tiny bit disappointing tho. They could have at least shown them while getting married. Im just glad that it was hapoy ending. It would have probably made me half or tiny bit depressed if it was a sad one...
Magdalena Midd so d main chara is still a webtoon chara right? since he can back to his world n real world. i badly want to discuss this in RL, but alas, none of my RL friends watch this orz
In W Two World ‼️‼️‼️‼️ The father died not just because he wants a happy ending for his daughter because he gave the murderer his face he could remember all bad things he did to other people and his daughter He says in one part that he cant live with all those memories and pleased kang chul to even kill him
The "Uncontrollably Fond" has the most saddest and heart aching ending. It was so painful to watch most of its last episodes knowing that Kim Woo Bin was diagnosed with cancer maybe after the drama in reality..and now he's fully recovered.
I just started watching dramas this year, and I've seen Cheese, Fond AND Scarlet thinking none were going to tear my heart out or make me so mad I couldn't see straight. The other part about Cheese is that even if she didn't end up with Jung, we aren't even told if she makes up with the second lead either. It was all about that sister getting her HEA which just poured salt in the wound. I don't get a movie when they could've just done a second second. As for Scarlet, I think majority are absolutely devastated about it, and I still don't buy they can't make a modern day version. It was a complete cliffhanger. Fond made me frustrated (as you said we knew devastation was foreshadowed but kept watching) because they knew he was going to die, so why not try to remove the tumor? I was going nuts over the fact if he was going to die at least try that approach but not until it was completely necessary. I will say Scarlet, Cheese and Fond were so well acted that regardless of the horrible endings of each, I would still recommend them because they are brilliant in terms of acting and chemistry. Just go in with a view that wasn't like mine blind. lol I would add Bad Guy because Wook's character deserved more than he got at the end. Wook was so good in a sub par drama IMHO that you were riveted by his performance, and there was so much his character had in terms of development that could lead to a sequel about his life and what happened. i would watch it in a heartbeat.
Honestly remember is the saddest kdrama I’ve ever seen, he completed everything he wanted to do in his life and loved who he wanted to love but in the end he forgot he even did those thing when the ending came I cried for a week straight it was so sad and even now talking about it it makes me cry
You are so right that KDramas have a tendency to have unwantd endings, or none at all. In all of my years watching, I have seen this happen again and again, but there is still one that stands above the rest in my mind. Rain and Shin min ah's " A Love to Kill" was the saddest drama that I've ever seen, so I expected that they would def give us the happy ending we all hoped for. WRONG! The ending was not only sadder than the drama, it made no sense to do so! Still the best acting from Rain that you could wish to see, but SO heartbreaking.
Teresa Vaughn Yeah, I keep bawling after the drama end. I knew it was supposed to be melancholic, BUT why should both of them choose to die in a cold snow when you don't have too??? 😭😭😭
As a fan I love the ending of W, Kang Chal has been through so much that it would be horrible if he didnt end up with the girl he spend years waiting to have their happy ending for.
i am sorry, i love you.... it had the most devastating ending.... it drenched every bit of me .... scarlet heart left a permanent scar on me ... but for some reasons, i think boys over flower was saddening too ... i cried my heart out for ji hoo....as if people like him are meant to be lonely ....even after 4 yeaaaars he was left alone ..... such a nice soul, who helped everyone genuinely, never got affection from anyone , remains lonely ... this is somehow familiar... n i could not take ji hoo's destiny that chose to stay beside her .....it was aching
I'm sorry I love you had me crying throughout. I cried in every single episode. And the song makes you wanna cry even more. It's the most heart wrenching drama I've ever watched.
One litre of tears... Okay, it's not a K-Drama actually, but a J-Drama. But it's the saddest drama out there. You literally cry one litre of tears, if not ten or more.
byTGM it goes through the life of a girl whose been diagnosed with an incurable degenerative disease at 15. It's based on a true story but the drama adds some romance to it
OMG so many sad-ending k-dramas, you need at least a part two and three! As some pointed out: 49 days, Fashion king need to be on the list. I will also add: Hong Gil Dong and Legend (still not over it after all these years), Sad Love Story (well the title said it all), Bad Guy (with Kim Nam Gil, well you can include almost every dramas with Kim Nam Gil tbh), Tree of Heaven (Korea and Japan join force in this drama collab to make you cry like never). Rooftop Prince has a bittersweet ending in my opinion, as well as Innocent Man and Scent of a Woman. I think that pretty much all the sad/bittersweet-ending Kdramas I could think of... and now I feel bad just to think about their endings :'(
For me uncontrollably fond is the most heartbreaking I wasn't ready at all the end make me cry a lot 💙 I think in this list we can add mirror of the witch
Scarlet Heart Ryeo is by far the most heartbreaking drama i've ever seen. I mean, the writer not only put a sad ending for the main couple, the sad ending goes with all of the elements of the story. It ends in the saddest way. I cried almost every episodes because the conflicts are too strong, the emotions are too pure, and the love story is the most beautiful-but-tragic of all. I watched other dramas but nothing made me cry harder than this drama. Salute to the writer-nim who is able to put me in such misery for the past years of trying to move on :(
Scarlet heart totally leave a scar in my heart...i never cry like how i watching scarlet heart...they make you fall in love with the drama at first by showing all the beautiful moment then suddenly they make you cry so hard till the end...not even give us some space to smile again...i will never forget this drama...
I think 'School 2015: Who are you?' should be on this list. Literally the WHOLE fandom was disappointed with the ending when she didn't chose Taewang who was always there by her side and had more chemistry with her than the actual main lead.
Okay, 2 of them I've watched: Scarlet Heart and Remember. Scarlet Heart was disappointing for me. Like, that's it?! That's the happy ending I get? A flashback?! So they're separated and miserable. Thanks a lot. But honestly, I never shipped them. She's better off without him. Remember. Until now, it is by far the saddest kdrama I've ever watched ever. Seo Jin Woo is the most *pitiful* Korean character for me ever. The way it ended though, I didn't feel as sorry for him as I did for every other character in the drama. They all lost a good friend, a boy they cared so much about. But hey, he seems happy, wherever he may be even though he'd probably be alone for the rest of his life. And you're right, it does have an open ending. It's so possible for them to become friends again. I didn't mind so much about the romance, but the sibling-like relationship is much more precious to me.
Asma Khairul Azman I really support ur comment, remember is by far one of the best k-dramas i've ever watched, and the ending instead of being sad is happy, at least for him, That was what I was waiting for, And what they gave me, so I don't regret watching it.
Asma Khairul Azman from that drama I know namgoong min.. It's really heartbreaking to see he committed suicide and shed tears because of his father :'( ... then he became my fav actor 💛, in falsify and pretty ugly too. and yeah, the ending is a bit disappointing but not as much as scarlet heart ryeo 😅
Asma Khairul Azman - pls nooooo - i so wanted Wang Soo to be happy after all the misery he had gone through. For me he deserved happinest the absolute most in that movie. But i suppose it was his Karma for all that monks he slaughtered to buy his mother's love.
Um....what? is kang chul not a 'real' human??? did korean fans actually wanted the main lead to end up with someone OTHER than Kang chul????? I'm actually okay with the ending of W. only think that pissed me off was that the webtoon fans think he died a unfair death.
yeah I understand it's sad but the video said that the fans were upset that the main character didn't end up with a real human. now that would be tragic tragic.
same here...I'm totally fine with the ending of W two worlds.. though I was a bit sad that the father died.. but nonetheless I already accepted early on that there would be a sacrifice to end the webtoon properly...
How can people be disappointed in that? It's a drama, anything could happen. Even if Kang Chul was just a manhwa character, their love is not fake, and Yeon Joo's father acknowledged that. As a father, of course he would want the happiness of his daughter, especially if it's something he can give. The ending was all fine. There's a tinge of sadness with the disappearance of the father, but there's also happiness with a love that came through.
The only things I didn't like about the ending of W is that Kang Chul spent two years in manwha prison before crossing over while his love thought of him dead, and that we don't know whether his world carried on without him or not. What happened to his friends? All the people he cared about? Did they just stop existing? That's the biggest tragedy of it all. The drama made it clear that the manwha characters had real feelings, that their lives mattered too. I want to know what happened to them.
That explanation just made my day, thank you :) Phew! Re: still going between worlds, I don't know maybe? Same passage he took to join her into her world I guess?
cheese in the trap . missing nine and scarlet heart didn t disappoint me . they only made me so angry that i wanted to kill their pds. i mean the beginning of the drama is so good also the actors did a good job and then we are so disappointed with the ending
Not included in this vid but the ending of STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN is one of the saddest for me.. One character c ommitted suicide just so he can donate his eyes to the girl he loves. But in the end the girl still dies.. Sad, really sad ending..
I love sad endings it reminds me of real life its different than the happy endings because life doesnt always have a happy ending but i also like happy endings.
*I actually really love these kind of dramas, it shows us that we don't always have a happy ending. Scarlet heart is my favorite, it was realistic just like these dramas, they're realistinc*
